Did anyone else get sick to the stomach by the laughing scene right before the Mi'hian Highroad? I have read on other forums or just basic reviews that this section of dialog had little or no character to it. Also, how about the returning theme with Tidus and Yuna with screaming and laughing when things got tough. Granted the technology was brand new for voice over of this quality and maybe they just messed it up, but it seems like this would be something that would be easily recognizable and quickly changed.
P.S. Has anyone played the Japanese version of this game without translation? maybe the dreaded laughing scene sounds better from the people who originally did it and not the translotors? What do you think?

Theres a fred somewhere with the Japanese laughing and IMO it sounds just as bad in that. It's just godawful and makes me cringe to the point I have to mute my tv :gasp:

Tidus's english voice really gets on my nerves(is that just me?) and that laughing scene made me really want to say:STFU! WHAT THE HELL IS SO FUNNY?!

I think Wakka's statement, "We thought you had gone crazy..." pretty much sums up how I feel about this scene. It didn't bother me to the point where muted the TV, but it certainly was bad. But I forgive Square because of Auron :P

Auron huh? Yea i guess i forgive them to, maybe if he had jumped in and told them both to put a lid on it, then the dialog would have at least been funny.

Tidus' voice in English was really awful. That's what tends to happen when you have a 40+ year old trying to voice a teenager. Doesn't work so well.

As for the laughing scene...yeah, that was awful. I remember cringing as well in a "Is this guy serious?!" sort of manner.

I never did beat FFX, because the voice acting was just...too much for me to handle. Had the sort of voices that made me want to carve out my own ear drums. D=

Yeah, the laughing scene was just really corny and...ugh...I guess

Although I think the voice-actors weren't bad to be honest

What does the Japanese version sound like though

(I can never find Japanese FFX videos )

I can actually imagine that:

Yuna and Tidus: HA HA HA HA...
Auron: Stop it...
Tidus: Aw, come on Auron. Let us just...
Auron: Shut up...or I'll shut you up myself...

That would've been epic :wacky: Auron is the best and coolest character on the game. Any faults that the game had, Auron made up for it.

The laughing scene induces thoughts of suicide in me. Right when I'm about to go through with it, a strange sense of amusement prevents me from...you know...ending the pain.

Nah, it isn't quite THAT bad.

It isn't funny enough to make me laugh at how bad it is. I just sorta stare in disbelief. Strange stuff.

It's just one scene where they laugh a bit. Granted it's a little annoying, however it's not a big deal. It doesn't really effect the game overall, I wasn't bothered by the voice acting. Plus it is a huge step up from not having characters talk. Teething problems are almost guaranteed. It's unrealistic to expect any game to be perfect. FFX is very very good Imo, so I don't know why everyone is so bothered by it.

The Flamer, you have it right, thats exactly what Auron should have done. I have actually resorted to saving a bunch of games right after that scene, so if i want to start a new game i don't have to go through it.

It did make me cringe a little, but then I found that whole aspect of the game quite endearing. And I agree, it was all so new, it wasn't gonna turn out perfect. I never got annoyed with Tidus' voice, it seemed to fit his character.

Perhaps the point of that scene was a bit of cringeworthy humour, I like to think so. But meh, I just enjoyed FFX in general so very little could have bothered me ^^

Tidus' voice did fit his character as you said IE, in fact all the voices fit the characters, even Wakka's. That's one thing they did right imo. Of course, once you get past said scene then the scenes are more bearable.

That scene is just awkward and was a terrible way to show Tidus and Yuna bonding. If a guy or gal wanted to bond with me in that way, I'd probably give them a dirty look and walk away.

I think the worst part of all is their faces, which just look freakishly contorted when they are laughing.

The scene was kinda embarassing to watch. It'd be funny if auron just walked up, slapped Tidus and said "Be quiet...this is not your story. Stick to the freeking script"

Hahahah I couldn't have said it better myself xD

As Rydia said, if some guy did that with me Id just be like WTF are you on?!

Fake laughter is just something that makes me cringe in RL aswel, I just want to slap them, then I laugh my head off at how totally cringeworthy it was :ffs:
