Square Enix said that Last Remnant would be multi platform. And it certainly was, having been released on both the Xbox 360 and PC.

But the other target platform for the game may not see the light of day. During an investors meeting today, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada made some comments that suggest PS3 owners could be out of luck.

Makonako posted a summary of the shareholder meeting today. While much of the talk was about earnings and dividends, a Q&A session during the second half of the event saw a question about the status of the PS3 Last Remnant.

To recap Makonako's summary, Wada responded that although it's tough on the development side of things to say that you'll release a game on multiple platforms but end up not doing so, Square Enix has to think about profitability. If there's a gap in the release of multiple versions of a game, and if the first version didn't necessarily see such great success, they have to think that there won't be a change in performance on a new platform.

While Wada's response doesn't contain a straight no-go on the PS3 version of the game -- it doesn't actually mention Last Remnant by name -- it looks like PS3 hold-outs should look into getting the game on either the Xbox 360 or PC.

I didn't recall The Last Remnant being that good anyway. I couldn't stand Johnny Young Bosch's voice most of the time- so PS3 owners aren't exactly missing much.

SE have a good argument though. Why bother releasing a game on the PS3 after perhaps a year or two after the PC and Xbox 360 versions- when there had been plenty of time for the PS3 owners to be foretold that it isn't very good?

Many predicted a sequel due to the ambiguous ending. Doesn't look very likely now, does it?

It's going to backfire on SE at some point if they pull that kind of bullshit again though :monster: They'll eventually just lose the Sony fanbase they have then see what kind of financial situations they're in. :awesome:

Well that sucks. I haven't played Last Remnant yet, but I know I'll buy a PS3 in the future for at least a few of the games, so I was sort of hoping to wait on LR too.

But more and more I'm looking at the XBOX 360 for wanting to play Star Ocean 4, and now this title seems to have been added to the list >_>

You know what I say?

it's goddamn karma for all you sucky PS3 owners.

We get The Last Remnant
You get FFvsXIII

Kick in the nuts I say, for both sides, 2 very good games.

Except, Last Remnant isn't very good according to the many reviews.

Final Fantasy XIII Versus isn't out yet, so I can't say much, but from what I've seen it looks great.

Yeah, can't say I'm all too bothered by this. Considering word about the game being pretty shit.

Only thing I'm learning from this is don't bother holding SE's words as proof for anything.

It actually was one of the games I was planning to buy for the PS3...

I think they should have released it on the PS3 first. Because it is probably very simple to find a hacked version of the game on the PC/Xbox and thus many people simply play it for free, without buying the game.

On the other hand, PS3 isn't hacked yet (according to what I know, and I don't really know much). So at least at the beginning, anyone who would have wanted to play the game, would have to buy it and this is a profit for SE.

I'm an Xbox 360 owner, and even though my expectations for Versus XIII are rather low, I'd still rather have that than Last Remnant :P I doubt there are many PS3 owners crying themselves to sleep at night over this.

I'm not so sure about the fact that Ps3 owners are crying about the loss...The Last Remnant sucks...

Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone ( I got Ps3 and 360 too) but the only tears I've shaded was for spend my money in a horrible way like that...It is boring, banal and a bad copy of RPG games.

>_< Sucks for PS3 owners. Last Remnant is a great game. I'm in the middle of it myself. Only real problem i have is Rush >_> he's annoying.. Only thing JYB has done that sucks though.

Something me and my boyfriend have thought about as to why Square's PS3 games are seeming to be delayed or cancelled... We think that they may be having a problem writing games for Blu-ray. If you have noticed, Square Enix does not have a SINGLE release out for PS3 at the moment, besides Crystal Defenders, which was Released via PSN. Doesn't it seem odd that Square Enix doesn't have a SINGLE title out on their flagship console, yet they have no problem releasing games on the 360? Its very probable that They are having problems programming for Bluray. I thought that it may not be true due to the fact that Advent Children Complete was just released, but as my boyfriend said it probably wasn't too hard to copy a film that was already made for DVD and just put it on Bluray. :monster:

i have a 360 and a wii,my ps3 broke,i cried,so what,last remnant wasnt that great,i had more fun making a puppet out of a paper bag(it was a bunny^_^),but ps3 has infamous,mgs 4,little big planet,and ratchet and clank,and 360 has mass effect,halo 3,and blue dragon,so i dont know what you guys are getting mad about

I have to agree, I'm really enjoying it so far on my brothers 360 but primarily, as a PS3 owner I'd happily buy it for that again, although I'd want the technical problems sorted such as the lag when it takes about 3/4 seconds to load the top quality graphics after the area's already loaded, it's not really much of a disturbance to me, especially after installing it to the harddrive, but I am surprised it was released with those problems.

I think it's more to do with SE's inability to develop though the PS3 in general has been noted to be more difficult to develop on, though some of the exclusives like MGS4 which look visually amazing makes me just think Square Enix are either too lazy to develop games on it or just don't know how, with the game engine they had anyway. They clearly had difficulties with the Unreal Engine 3 as it's obvious in TLR though when fully loaded it looks amazing though there's hope for SO:TLH to be on the PS3. I think we'll see a fair few games after FFXIII and FFXIII Versus solely down to the fact SE are using their own built Crystal Tools engine which means they'll know how it works, and how to do it properly D;

Well, ugh. I've been looking forward to this since before I bought a PS3 a couple of years ago. I've never played it, but it always looked fun to me.

Since you want it for the PS3 then trust me, you want it to be remade first, I bought the 360 version but I'd happily see it ported over to the PS3 as that's my main playing console, but in the technical condition it's in, it should never have been released other than that it's great, technical wise, if you ever played Assassins Creed or read about what it was like without the patch, TLR is similar >.>

Thanks for the info. I'd heard from some others that there were some loading problems that weren't that bad, but yeah, I'd like it fixed if I ever see it. Which is probably never. Oh, well.

You always can try the PC version.
I'm afraid to try it because my PC is... *cough* no that good *cough*

Advent Children looked great.

Its the worst movie I've ever seen, only second to the Grudge.

Eh... Square Enix is a Company, not a Person.

In all the time I've played Warcraft....

I have never once trusted anything Blizzard has said about the 'possibility' of something new being introduced so a class doesn't have to be so shit for their PvE / PvP balance.... When a major content patch comes, Paladins start screaming WHERES MY MS WTF WHY DID MAGES GET MS?

With blizzard.... A possibility like the latter is about a 1 to 3 million chance, lawl. It's not going to happen and they're just manipulating you.

Most companies probably do the same.

It's difficult for me to trust one person, let alone an entire group of people.
