Just Started Playing FF8

Don't worry about using which characters. It's all about preference I think because some people say that you should use Squall to hunt Cactaurs. From my own experience, I had to use Selphie.

Also, just a little hint, when you get Odin, if you want him to appear more often, just raise your luck. I recall that one of the girls had 255 Luck and Odin appeared plenty of times.
 
Thats the ultimate gunbalde, you dont have to worry about it now, only when you reach disc 3, but if you want I can tell you, but it requires rare items that you can get by defeating a certain monster in a certain place(I dont wanna tell because it contains spoilers)
 
Lol, you know what I found out. I don't think you need to upgrade your gunblades at all. I played through most of the game using just Squall's first gunblade. Near the end of the game, that's when I upgraded Squall's gunblade to his final one, Lionheart.
 
FFVIII, is one of the easiest FF Games for me, but it was so fun, maybe it's because i was so overpowered, each lvl only need 1000 EXP, I was around lvl 50 at the end of disc 1 0.o And already lvl 100 during disc 3 0.o XD
Anyways, the monsters level with you and I trained so so much so dont worry, lvl 20 is perfectly fine.
Also if you thought disc 1 was short, wait until other discs, I think disc 1 was the longest...
 
I just finally played if for the first time too... tried once before but couldn't get into it... Not really impressed with it this time either... I really like the fighting system though, so I mostly just wandered around battling. I don't like Rinoa, so that made the story line not very good IMO
 
Aww give her a chance, lol. I like her, she's awesome. Annoying at times, yes. But hey, that's your typical teenager for ya'. ^_^
