This is probably the first time I've ever legitimately completed the game (.i.e, without cheating) and I have to say I'm surprised at how easy the game is when I had so much trouble with it before.

I'm not sure why, but I seemed to think Customization was a very big deal... But this playthrough I didn't really use customization a lot, in fact the only thing I used it for was to put Water Eater on Rikku's Victorious and Sensor on a few weapons.

Using Rikku as a healer + Alchemy (earliest I got was Wantz, before the battle with
Seymour
in Gagazet) made the game incredibly easy. If you are wondering yes, it took a lot of spheres to make Rikku not suck as anything else but a Healer, I almost instantly used up all friend and teleport spheres (a few skill spheres too, Break Armor etc), but Entrust is the perfect ability for Rikku since her Overdrive blows without rare items

Speedy, great utility, mediocre damage (but decent for the role filled) and Healer. I only wish Auron could keep up with Rikku and Tidus... with his 16 Agility. :ahmed:

did anyone know yu yevon is susceptible to doom? :neomon:

Lol, I never tried, its a fucking insult that fight anyway

Must admit the first time I played it I struggled to fuck :rage: I do customise alot of my shit tho0ugh - well, my armour anyway, never really bothered with the weapons in any playthrough tbh

customisation was what made it easier for me next time round

Hmmm on my first playthrew I didnt seem to have any problems realy, with costomization(wich I always find fun except in XIII) or anything, well tbh Lulu's ultimate weapon was a lil hard to find .
I did have a a good time playing the game though^^ and I didnt use cheats .

That's because
the person who became the Fayth for Anima was his Mother.
.

I've never bothered with customization, ever. It just seems like something that adds unnecessarily to the gameplay when that isn't the main thing I enjoy about this game.Oh,not that I don't like it.It's just that I like the story of the game so much that I find I want to return to it ASAP,without spending most of my time on the game itself(is that weird,I wonder?).I really never get tired of the cut scenes(yes, even the HAHAHAHAHA).

I usualy have the most trouble with the Seymour Gagazet fight,it's hard to survive Ultimate Annihilation without many HP upgrades.I'll probably pay more attention to customization next time I play, though.

Most of the game is too easy. I'm inside Sin at the moment, and with a few ultimate weapons on show, it's a bit of a blitz. I got to Jecht and he threw himself down before me and begged for mercy. MERCY DENIED.

Yeah, I just finished Omega. I've been becoming really disappointed with the challenges presented outside of the Arena.

...He only got one turn and didn't even KO anyone =|

I did really like the Jecht fight when I did it though, I wasn't even expecting to win. Stamina Tablets and Mega Potions ftw, totally would have dragged on until i was out of items if i didnt use them. :neomon:

But I dunno, maybe it's the combination I'm using that's making the game easy... Quick Hit spam (All 3 characters have) just owns stuff.

really? the only incarnation of his I had problems with was Omnis.

it all just boils down to how prepared you are when you go into a fight

I was massively underlevelled (or whatever the FFX equivillent would be) when I got to Omega, it was a massive drama getting to him, fuck you marlboros, only to be buttraped when I faced him. On more than one occassion as well :rage:

I think I always enjoy my first playthroughs the most, even if half the time is spent looking at game over screens, and squeezing the control pad in frustration im always underequipped and unprepared. I know whats coming my next lot of playthroughs so i always go in well equipped, so what I struggled on for hours on one play through is a walk in the park the next.

I love the challenge of a first playthrough because i just know i wont be doing anything other than aiming for the end of the game. I never want to risk over levelling and ruining it for myself. though, in the case of FFIV, that shit just has to be done :rage:

In most RPG's I play, I power level occasionally just...because. Don't ask me why, I just do. Maybe I like dominating pixels because my life sucks XD. But that kills the challenge if you do that in the Omega Ruins. However, I wasn't even aware of it my first playthrough so Jecht kicked me pretty good. I eventually won, but it wasn't pleasant. Second time through, everything was stupidly easy.

Yunalesca was my first real challenge in the game. Which is sad since that's pretty much at the end of the game. Seymour at Gagazet was somewhat difficult, but leveling for half an hour on the hill solved that. When it comes to customizing, Yunalesca was the only reason for me to do it. Which I did, as annoying as it was. Then it's getting the final weapons unlocked that I can be arsed to do. Never tried with Kimahri or Lulu.

But I'm gabbing on like a moron. Despite being a pretty easy game, and somewhat short for a Final Fantasy, I find it strangely entertaining having replayed it a few times. Guess I liked the story and graphics. Yuna dancing on the water will probably always stick in my mind. And I have yet to find a FF character I love nearly as much as Auron. Cid (FFVII), Squall, and Lightning have come somewhat close...somewhat. XD

Going back to the OP, I can relate with the whole cheating thing. I did tend to give myself infinite items, caught all fiends for the Monster Arena and so on. I'd always replace empty or weak nodes with Strength/Magic (etc) Spheres and get massive stats really early on. It's a wonder I liked the game at all.

Replaying it without a single cheat was completely refreshing, though it highlighted the general simplicity of the fights - even some of the later, supposedly stronger bosses. Yes they did hit harder, and started attacking the whole party at the same time, but it was nothing a little planning couldn't sort out.

Also re: Yu Yevon, I dislike the justification for that fight to my core. Giving you permanent auto-life (where the feck would that come from?!) was a cheap kick to the crotch too. Like you could lose at that point.

So like yeah. I never customized the first time I played the game. Ended up being a lot harder for me than I could imagine. The I just trained for days and days, and unlocked Rikku's ultimate weapon, and shabam! Easy winning.

Fun times.
