I'm suprised I haven't seen this thread yet...

Whats your opinion on this amazing 80's rocker?

Favourite Songs -

Runaway
Lost Highway
Have A Nice Day
Misunderstood
In These Arms

Personally I feel that some of the songs are really over-rated (Livin' on a Prayer, You give love a bad name and Its my life) They are played sooo much and the band have such better songs!

I've heard some of his songs.

I'm not a big fan of his, though I do have one of his albums. Not sure which one though.

My partner is a big fan of his though.

You Give Love A Bad Name is the one that I remember being played the most at my old job.

We had a few CD's. One was a So Fresh CD and one was of all Bon Jovi's greatest hits and You Give Love A Bad Name was on both. So it seemed like it was always playing. XD

So yeah I don't mind his music, but I'm not that into him either.

I'm not really all that into him either, though he is a good singer. I think it's because he always seemed to be one of those people who have really, really good songs and then the rest are just there to fill the CD. The ones that would stand out to me are:
Livin' On A Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name and Bed of Roses. They were truly fantastic.

What do you mean they are there to just fill the cd?
I think that the songs on his albums MAKE the cd more worthwhile (that my opinion anyway)
But i have to say some of the songs on his newer albums arent great, a bit of a let down actually.

Bon Jovi is one of my absolute favorite rock bands. I can't really pinpoint a favorite, though Runaway is definitely up there. I enjoy some of his newer stuff as well, though was disappointed with the Lost Highway album. Was a bit too country and i'm a bit concerned he's going to fully convert.

I like some of Bon Jovi's 80's and 90's stuff. I've never actually bought any albums but I do enjoy it when they play his songs on the radio. My favorite would have to be "Wanted Dead or Alive." I absolutely love blasting that song in my car and singing along.

I may actually check out some of his albums, now that I think of it. I need some new ipod music. :hmmm:

Bon Jovi are a great BAND. Jon Bon Jovi on his own isn't that great, except for Blaze of Glory. He's not the same without Sambora, bar that one song.

Anyways, my favourite songs of theirs:

Something to Believe In.
These Days
Always
Never Say Goodbye
Runaway
Say It Isn't So
In These Arms
I'm All About Loving You
River Runs Dry (unreleased, only on the 100 Million Fans Can't Be Wrong set)

And probably more.

Got Sambora's Stranger in This Town album, it's pretty good. Father Time is an awesome song, best on the album imo.

I dont understand why so may people like always. Its a song that makes people cry! I can see why he made his money with that song, but personally it just brings a tear to my eye...I dont like songs that do that.

HAHA, I sound like i have a split-personality!

He's huge around my parts as Bon Jovi is from neighboring New Jersey and he owns an Arena Football team in Philly.

Good 80's band - lousy transition. Their new stuff has been awful (we get it Jon - it's your life and you wanna live while your alive - you don't need to put the same line in every song...) and his voice has gone to hell. Hearing him live is torture - no belly singing anymore - just nasal falsetto.

That being said - among celebrities and musicians - he's one of the good guys. Very charitable both in terms of time and money.

Dislike. Strongly. His lyrics are cheesy and corny, and the music itself doesn't strike me as very... interesting, for lack of a better word. It's just a little bit too 'light' for my taste. But you have to consider that I grew up just south of Seattle in the late '80s and '90s. So I tend towards the heavier guitar stuff with the darker/more complicated lyrics.

Bon Jovi... just.... meh.

If you want a darker Bon Jovi, I recommend the "These Days" album. Lyrics are pretty dark if you take them in while listenning.

For example, from "Something to Believe In"

I lost all faith in my God, in his religion too
I told the angels they could sing their songs to someone new
I lost all trust in my friends
I watched my heart turn to stone
I thought that I was left to walk this wicked world alone

Tonight I'll dust myself off
Tonight I'll suck my gut in
I'll face the night and I'll pretend
I got something to believe in

And I had lost touch with reason
I watched life criticize the truth
Been waiting for a miracle
I know you have too

Though I know I won't win
I'll take this one on the chin
We'll raise a toast and I'll pretend
I got something to believe in

If I don't believe in Jesus, how can I believe the Pope
If I don't believe in heroin, how can I believe in dope
If there's nothing but survival, how can I believe in sin
In a world that gives you nothing
We need something to believe in

If I don't believe in Jesus, how can I believe the Pope
If I don't believe in heroin, how can I believe in dope
If there's nothing but survival, how can I believe in sin
In a world that gives you nothing
We need something to believe in
