Basically at first i thought ide be happy with quistis over rinoa, but then i decided ide much rather use rinoa, im at FH in disc 2 and im wondering if theres any way i can go out and JUST level rinoa to catch up to squall and zell?

No. Squall must remain in the party, you're not allowed to sub him out.

You may be able to use just the two of them however.

You don't even need to level up in this game, but if you really wanted to, you could let Squall and Zell die, and have Rinoa defeat the enemy herself. I'm pretty sure that allows only her to get EXP.

What they said ^

Although levelling up in this game actually makes standard random encounters and boss fights harder throughout the game.

But yeah, if you're looking for more of a challenge or somethign like that, see above.

well i love me a good challenge so thats not a problem, but why would becoming stronger make fights harder?

Fights are "levelled" as in, if you get higher, enemies also get higher meaning they have access to better spells.

Ruby dragons, for example have much more powerful spells (disproportionately so) at higher levels than at lower levels.

So fighting certain enemies at lower levels means that you avoid getting hit with extermely high level magic, but of course means that you can't draw said magic from them.

I would recommend going near Esthar and training there... That or go to Odin's tower and gank the Tomberrys... That's just me though...

Enemies level up with you in this game. As long as you have good junctions and draw 100 magic from enemies you don't have to worry about it. My suggestion is if you know the monster won't kill you... go to config and set you Cursor to memory. Then when in battle draw one time what you want your characters to draw. After you done that tape down the ok button and eat a sandwich. Your characters should draw the magic until one of them get 100 of the spell. Switch spells to draw and get a drink or read the news paper. In time you get 100 of the magics you want while you are also occupied.

Oh yeah and even if you kill Squall and whoever don't they start with 1 HP next battle? Or is that another game?
