Irrational Phobias?

Soliver and snot. I know that anyone don't take kindly to either, but I screw if people sneeze near me without covering their mouth or turning away, and I detest it when people I'm walking or hanging about with randomly spit like footballers on the fields -__- Exerting yourself there, mate? Hardly doing exercises or running, yet they still do it >.<. If they got flem, do it in a bin or corner with more discreet or something.

Good call, that really annoys the hell out of me too. Weird thing is, that I always feel like they're doing it to slight me in some way, which makes me want to turn around and knock their lights out. So far I've been able to control that little impulse of mine though :P To me it isn't really a phobia though, it just really annoys me.

I don't have any real phobias, but a friend of mine freaks out if he sees a frog, and a girlfriend of another friend is afraid of balloons to the extent where she can't be in a room with them.

As far as unrealistic phobias go, I'm really afraid of cats. No seriously, I've seen too many kids in my past that were brutally scratched by their cat, and it stuck with me how vicious a cat can really be. I fear a cat more than a nasty Pitbull. My fear has sort of waned in time, but they still tend to raise a small fear inside me when there is one present.

I was at my friends place a few weekends ago, and his cat loved me, even though I didn't give it any attention. Kept jumping up on my lap and such, it's a little unnerving.

I hate to admit it but I'am terrified of ants ! they are like the creepiest creature ever. When I see them crawling on the ground ( which happends pretty often, believe it or not ^^ ) I start shaking as hell , I hate it . Seriously , what is wrong with me ? xD

Sewing machines, turkeys, getting a broken neck from bad posture, and tarot cards. Only because I can't think of any other paranoid ones of mine. So. Yeah.

Not death or being buried alive, no sir. Ohohohoho :dave:

We already have a thread on phobias...but if we are talking random ones, I might just leave this for the time being, if this turns into a chat on phobias in general Il merge them...

Anyway, as for irrational phobias, I can feel Patsys pain up there, snot is DISGUSTING, it makes me heave, I scream and wretch if anyone comes near me with snot, I cant even handle my own kids snot....I just yell at her to get tissue :gasp:

But, my biggest most irrational fear ever is fans....them guys you get in wind tunnels or just big ones in like generators and shit, Im TERRIFIED of being sucked into them, and the noise they make is scary too -_- ...if I ever came into live contact with one, I swear Id die of shock, I cant even watch them on tv....they are just.....awful. I could do without ever having to see one of those, thanks -_-

Pigeons. I LOATHE them, absolutely and completely LOATHE them. They TERRIFY me. I can't even watch TV if they happen to be on it. I was watching Distraction last night, and they had to put the top of their head into a box full of Pigeons, and I totally utterly freaked out. I couldn't watch it, but was too paralyzed by fear to change the channel >< I just can't stand them at all. They scare me more than anything else, even needles.

It's totally stupid too, because apart from being really gross disease-carrying rats with wings, pigeons aren't so scary. ><

I HATE snakes. With a passion. Their so damn creepy and weird, ugh. I was with a buddy of mine and his gf and we went to the pet store, to look around. He wandered over by the huge glass they have to see the anaconda. Told me to come over, so i did, for 2 secs. HE said he wanted to get it when we get a place.:wtf:

I actually get freaked out by grasshoppers. One jumped on me before and I swatted it with a magazine and started running. Feeling something like that on your skin just kind of grosses me out. They just feel so......prickly when they move. Weird part is, other insects or bugs don't scare me or creep me out like that..........

I am absolutly terrified of moths. All shapes and sizes. Ever since seeing the mothman prophecies.

I have what they call 'Arachnophobia'.

I've always had it for as long as I can remember.

I can't even look at one without jumping ten feet backwards in order to get away from it.

I just go into panic and after I've seen it I go into shock then run and then stand far away from it still in shock.

It's the worst thing to have really, especially where I live. We're prone to getting them a lot out where I live in the bush.

It's not going to be a healthy thing to show to my future kids.

They may either think I'm completely stupid and never develop the phobia I have or they may follow my lead and think that it's natural to act that way.

It's going to be hard when Steve is out at work and I'm home with the kids and an incident like that occurs. XD

I'm emetophobis which means I have a phobia of getting sick to the stomach along with a fear of others around me getting sick. It ties in with my OCD and I obsessively wash my hands all the time. I also have a fear of bees, not really a phobia but whenever I hear them buzzing near my I kind of freak out. lol.

It may be irrational to a good number of people, but I am deathly afraid of flying. I will not step foot in a plane if I know the thing plans on taking off (you'd be hard pressed to get me on one even if it wasn't). I don't know why this is either, because only 6 or 7 years ago I had no fear. Perhaps I can simply chalk it up to an unnerving bout of turbulence at one point and just couldn't face the reality of how planes work, how high they are in the sky and how fast they go.

It does kind of suck, though, to get panicky whenever I think of them. I have a hard time when family and friends fly, too. In fact, every time my mother gets on a plane I demand that she call me the moment she lands. D:

i wouldnt exactly call it a phobia more of an ocd. but the tv volume has to ALWAYS be on a multiple of 5 xD
otherwise i freak outtt

I used to be afraid of barfing...then I had my wisdom teeth removed and barfed blood.
It actually wasn't that horrible. Now I don't really have a problem with it.
Bugs bother me though. All of them. Spiders the most, and the spiders here freakin' jump.

I was afraid of flying. This is because when I was a little boy and I was on a plane ride I asked my sister why she was so afraid, She then screamed at my face "THE PLANE IS GOING TO CRASH!" That...scarred me for life.... I used to enjoy plane rides. Thanks sis.

Spiders. I have this fear of them to the point where I can look at them, in any form. Or even read about them. I get all freaked out, and I'm all paranoid, so I'm constantly looking around for them, afraid I'm about to be attacked. And I can't sleep at night, because I'm laying in bed thinking about spiders crawling over me in the night. Yeah, I have a problem with them. I think its an irrational fear. >_>

To that degree, I could see it being irrational, but a simple fear of spiders isn't really all that strange, when you think about it. The same goes for snakes, too. It's natural to fear anything that can cause harm to you, as it helps you survive, since you'll avoid the things you fear.

Also, the average person will probably laugh and not take me seriously, but when I was younger, I couldn't stand being hugged. I'm not sure why, really, but that's how I was from around, I don't know, 7 to 13, maybe? Good thing I got over it, too, because that's one thing I wouldn't be fond of having to explain every time someone tried to comfort me or whatever.
