Anyone ever get intimidated by any of the monsters in this game?

Did anyone ever think they were going to lose a battle really quick when you first saw monsters like Elder Wyrm or Demon Wall, or Judges like Bergan (who you just saw took out Drace in an earlier cutscene)? I mean some of them are definitely pretty terrifying, most notably the wyrms and the Hunt Wyrms. They're huge. :monster:

I actually thought I was going to go lose that battle with Bergan. I thought he would wipe me out in one fell swoop, and when I saw he had allied judges, that only worsened the feeling.

Intimidated… Nah, never got intimidated. However, right off the bat I knew I was going to loose against the Demon Wall… Kinda went into it when my characters needed more training - a lot more training.

I was disappointed with the Judges, actually. They just didn't seem as hard as they looked...

Yeah, for the most part the Judges were alright in battle, but not near-impossible like some of the other bosses that Square was able to pump out.

One thing too: I hate how in the Bestiary it seems like most descriptions contain some line that says 'whose hide is impenetrable even to the sharpest of blades' and it goes on and on for about 50 different monsters.
I mean, dude, that can't be right. xD
Funny thing is, I always think that they would've been more intimidating if the creature descriptions were given before the battle or whatnot.

I got intimidated by Basch. My, was he a strong-looking guy.

Actually, I got intimidated by the last boss. That was hard... >.< The elementals were a pain in the ass too. I always ran away when I spot them, especially when some other monsters advance towards you.

lol, yeah, the elementals are kinda scary. I remember encountering one of those things in Giruvegan, which if you remember are like 2 times bigger than the normal elementals, and I just ran. But then I figured out that I can't advance downwards unless I killed him so I went for it. Took me a while. xD

I also hate it when a couple of Behemoths or some other big monsters gang up on you and beat you up. There's a good chance that you'd get out of it alive since you can switch members, but it's pretty intimidating, admit it. xD

Lol... Kinda off subject, but have you ever played Shadow of the Colossus - for the PS2?

Now those are huge beasts to battle with, truly intimidating... If you've played it, then you'll understand where I'm coming from.

Anyway, I played that before FFXII, so it kinda ruined any intimidation factor that XII had going for it in the way of large beasts.

The judges always intimidate me since i know they'll wipe the floor with me.

Um...when i was at lower levels those teleporting mares scared the crap out of me, but now that i have 3 melee fighters with Deathbringers i could care less.

Everything else...yeah...pretty much just meh about.

Though they don't look it, Baknamys can be menacing when they approach in groups.

I once ventured into the Necrohol of Nabudis with my frontline at level 39 and reserves at level 10-16 in hope of retrieving the Zodiac Spear. From hindsight, seeing as how I could dispatch several Hellhounds 10 levels above me in Golmore Jungle at once, I didn't see why these midget level 46 Baknamys wouldn't follow the same fate. But damn, did I get a nasty welcome by the residents down there. All it took was a minute or under for them to virtually annihilate my party of 6 even when I had the Protect status activated! As a result, they handed me my first game-over of the entire game. B******s! Since then I always held a grudge against them and what a way to punish them with the magic they most hate: Ice. Ah…revenge is indeed a dish best served cold.

There were times I'd see a huge monster in the plains or something and I'd think "Oh no!" Then they ended up being the weakest on the field. Well, looks can be deceiving. =]

I felt intimidated by a number of the bosses, yet when I got into battle I found them easy enough.

When i was in the nam Yensa sand sea place, the one with all the long walkways and red platforms.....you only fight those crappy little orc things.....i saw one of the entite things, big glowing balls, and its level was waaaay higher tham my guys, i was relieved when it was one of those enemies that doesnt attack until provoked, unfortunately, one of my chars had an attack closest foe gambit, or something, so yup, the entite turned nasty and i had to run like hell...

As far as I'm aware, they are only provoked if any of your characters cast magicks near it, whether it be status buffs or healing magicks. An attack gambit only works on those that display the red (hostile) life bar near them not the green (neutral) bar.

I dont really remeber how it happened, i was a newb at FFXII back then, probs someone cast cure, or i actually ordered to attack it.......but im sure there is a gambit that targets the closest foe regardless of its nature...

Nope, there's no gambit for it, the only thing that sets entites off is magic. Although i HAVE noticed a glitch where sometimes one of my characters will start attacking a friendly monster anyway...that might have been what happened to you.

And Feng Yun, i forgot all about those stupid Baknamys, the same exact thing happened to me >_<

As for places that are intimidating...the Necrohal of Nabudis is pretty scary, so's the Feywood.

I never get intimidated i ussualy just hammered at them and get killed jaja so what then i trained hard to kill that who killed me. Like the first time i saw a entite those big element balls i had my ass kicked so hard. jaja.

I have become very weary on my rerun through Vagrant story. Since my game got wiped i started again. Its very intimidating when you are in battle with a monster that you can do no damage to. Struggled doing the ifrit when i stumbled on him. I had to go all out. I did it in the end, but missed a lot and did minimal damage, i am more cautious now. The last boss in the game i thought was unreal when i first encountered it. Very quick and powerful.

I always did by those Dinosaurs probably because I tried to take one out early in the game and got mauled.

What's this got to do with FFXII?

This is aimed at at TranceGenesis

The dragons in this game were rather intimidating. And those damnable entites. I really hated those. And I'm pretty sure I remember being attacked by them a few times without having cast any magicks. Once I was leveled enough, I started killing them on sight though.

none of the creaturs were imtimidating well maybe hell wyrm or yiazmat
the one thing that imtimidated me the most were the areas such nechrol nubudis and the nubreas deadlands but once i was high leveled all fears were lost

My humble apologies.

In that case it would have to be any of the huge dragons in the game. King behemoth was hit and miss. But for sure disbelief it was the mandragoras for me that put me in my place. The boss' that is. Hard to hit and lots of status magic used against me.
