Hello, my name is miro. I have never played a final fantasy game, although i have been playing games, for like ever, in world of warcraft, i have 3 70s, lineage 2, 2 80s, and i am currently playing age of conan. and have played many many many, single player games. FF has recently been drawn to my attention, because i love rps in general, and ive been craving for a rpg fix, ever since i beat Jade Empire, i am currently getting my rpg fix from the game called Mass Effect, and although its really good, it doesn't really feel like "epic" good like "never winter nights " or "KoTor" Somehow FF has slipped past me. anyway, there seems to be a http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/images/smilies/holyshit.gif :holyshit: many many final fantasy games.. and i really am not sure where to start =/, i dont play consoles, PC only. so my good new friends, where do i start? really i wish to know. I want to experience the best FF has to offer, THX

Well it looks like you enjoy Online RPG's a fair bit, so I would say XI as it's the only Online RPG like World of Warcraft. However I haven't actually played FFXI myself so I don't know how good it actually is but I heared no real bad things about it itself.

From the main seires, I'd probably suggest something like FFX or XII, as they are the newer releases. If you like what you play then consider delving into the PSX-era of VII, VIII or IX and then maybe even the old Nintendo games if you've become a fan.

Good luck :D

lord flashcard, i really enjoy the "story" of a game, some games give you that "story time around the warm campfire in the woods" kinda feeling.(a game that comes to mind is Legacy of Kain, and Blood Omen, series lol) Keeping that in mind, and the fact that i wish to play the games from a good start to finish story line perspective, what do you recommend? btw.. your avatar...its...incredible o_o

Not FFXII then.
FFX is a must really. I'd also recommend FFVIII, though I'm more than a little biased.
And FFVII, the graphics aren't all that good so if you don't mind that then it's worth playing.

FFX for sure then. Majority of the game is told as a story around a campfire as it goes :P, and the game itself is quite linear so keeping up with the story shouldn't be too difficult as there is little distraction.

IX also has a good campfire tale to tell as does VIII. FFVII has a quite complicated story, but if you can get your head around the Legacy of Kain seires then you should do fine. I don't think you'd be dissapointed with any later games as far a storys go.

Most numbered FF games are completly seperate (all set in different universes and do not cross-over) from each other so there is no need to start from a specific point and carry on. Exceptions of this is the sequel to FFX and the group of games that surrond FFVII.

interesting... and if most of the games are in separate universes, how do the games relate to each other? or would that be spoiling it... =o..actually sorry stupid question >_> just because something is called the same does not mean its the same thing, w/e lol i think ill start with the FFX game then =) thx for the replies

They don't. There are characters with the same names, eg Biggs and wedge, and cid.
And the summons are in most of them.

All of the games are seperate.
It's like books written by the same author but about different things, with different characters.

i think i saw two FF movies ones... they were both interesting, how do those movies relate to the games? after what game should i watch those movies? or were those movies, just a remake of some game?

Two, Advent Children and Spirits within?

Spirits within has nothing to do with any FF game.

Advent Children is part of the group of media that are about FFVII that Lord Flashheart mentioned before.
It's a sequel btw

Many share common elements that define the seires (ie the first 5 games had Elemental Crystals, all important to the storys except II) and the general gameplay is similar. Story-wise there is no link (though there are many theorys going about by fanboys, and some of the newer games do have subtle or hidden reference to the older ones but its all fan service).

ok, thx i think im good now =) i ordered FFX..interesting its ps2.. lol whatever i have a ps2 stashed somewhere in the garage >_>

Spirits within has nothing to do with any FF game.
Unless you count the Chocobo cameo :P

For future reference; Compilation of Final Fantasy VII Media in chronological (or nearest too) order....

- Before Crisis. (Mobile phone game, only in Japan)
- Crisis Core. (PSP game)
- Last Order (Shortish OVA retelling a paticular portion of FFVII)
- Final Fantasy VII. (The original game)
- The Maiden Who Travels the Planet and On The Way to a Smile: Case of Denzel, Tifa and Barret. (Short storys that bridge the gap between the original game and Advent Children)
- Advent Children. (Feature length film, sequel to FFVII)
- Dirge of Cerberus
- Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode (Mobile phone tie-in)

Pretty much what he just said, although you would need to invest in a ps2 if you don't already have one if you don't play console games

As said before there is XI for the pc but I have never played it either, well, I started it, decieded I didn't like it and never looked at it since

Anyway, you can't go wrong with X, the story is top notch, the graphics are pretty and the sphere grid is just epic!

Edit* Shit, I missed the secong page, how the hell did I manage that :gasp:

Anyways, glad to see you are investing in FFX :monster:
