I love playing my Trombone. I've been playing it since 5th grade and I've probably been through about a million different trombones since, but I've finally found a pro-model that I've been able to stick to (as opposed to the peashooters and small bores with F valves I've been playing) and get a really good tone/slide action out of it. Sadly, I started to double on Euphonium my Freshman year which kinda took its toll on my tone, but it's all tenor brass and I'm decent enough at it with the ability to handle grade 5s somewhat securely.

anyone else here play an instrument? let us discuss!

Well, I play the Flute.... I used to be quite good at it, but then I took like, a year off, and became all out of practice. (Plus I missed it a lot, I really needed to join again>!) So when I did, it was in a much harder band and I was lost so easily! But I can't quit, I love it too much! I'm glad I have the opportunity to play such wonderful music!

Well I play the sax and enjoy but I got more interested in guitar and focused on that more passionately and had a falling out with my sax. I could do simple scales on my sax though but not like how I used to do 3 years ago...

I've been playing guitar for about 2 years now. Because of my job, I don't get a lot of free time to play and practice and such. /lame excuse I play casually, I'm too old and too involved to fulfill my dreams of being a rock star. I treat it as more of a hobby, considering my interest in guitar and my passion for it's sound. I suppose I can hang in there and do some decent things with the guitar, but I feel like my skill has grown at a very slow rate, relatively speaking, but it's still a lot of fun to play something you do know how to play.

Which sax? Tenor/bari sax beats all.

Also, I took like a year's break from Trombone and when I came back I wasn't too bad. I was playing Euphonium though so I didn't have many embouchure problems.

Well at first I played alto then after learning most of the notes my instructor gave me a tenor to play in concert then he even moved me up to baritone when the music desperately needed it. Only sax I haven't played is soprano but I greatly prefer the sound of a tenor over all the other saxophones.

I used to play the clarinet when I was little, but never was able to tongue it so I dropped out of band. Than i tried my hand at guitar, but I could not fret the damn thing to save my life. I'm decent at a piano though.

I really wish I could find a trumpet, because I find that instrument to be badass.

I play alto sax and guitar. I'm not particularly good at either, but I'm better at alto sax. Alto sax I've played since 4th grade, but I used to be barely into. Now that I'm in high school and we play good music, I practice a lot more. I actually know SCALES now, how about that?
Guitar I've played since June, but I practice ALL OF THE TIME so I'm constantly getting better. I can read music, but it takes me forever to figure out what fret is what note and all that. I know a few scales on guitar as well, but not as many.
My band director is making me pick up bari sax for the pep band, so we'll see how that goes. With songs like Thriller, it should be interesting...

I was also a trombone player who was forced to play the Euphonium Freshman year of high school, about 8 years ago. I actually found I like the Euphonium more. I've also been playing guitar for 11 years I have no "chops" it takes me much longer than I would like to play solos, but I can play Stairway to Heaven and I consider that a feat. I mostly play jazz guitar because I can play chords better than anyone. And I used to dabble in trumpet, french horn, tuba, and clarinet.

I got a mouth harp (harmonica) for my birthday a few months ago, and it's fun to play and you can easily improv something nice with it. I'm not that good at music theory however, so I probably won't turn in to a superb player.

I also have a bass guitar, but haven't touched it for some time now.

Don't play any instruments; my dad and brother are the musical ones in the family. I bought a "Korg PadKontrol" a couple weeks ago though. It's fun although I'm terrible at it. Would love to learn how to play the piano or guitar but it seems a little late to start now.

euphonium definitely has better concert parts yeah, but I really enjoy playing Trombone a lot more than Euphonium simply because the Trombone's awesome parts, even if they come up a lot less often than a Euphonium's, are infinitely more awesome than a Euphonium's. Trombone also takes a fuckton more air than Euphonium...

I'm more of a vocalist rather than an instrument player, but I have taken up violin and a bit of keyboard. :) BUT, I prefer to sing than play.

My experience with music goes back to the time where I was still 9 years old. At the age, I joined my school's Chinese Orchestra, and learned the ErHu- AKA. Chinese Violin. Basically, it's a violin like instrument with only two strings, and held differently as well. It's pitch is more unique too, and honestly, it's probably one of the instruments that gives oriental music it's distinctive sound.

However, I dropped it later on when my interest in it waned. Thereafter, I went without learning or practising any musical instruments until recently. After having nurtured a passion for classical music, I decided to go ahead to learn the piano. I have started classes since then, and have already learned how to play 'Ode To Joy', and a super-simplified version of 'Fur Elise'.
