I've decided to abandon my other story and start working on something new. It's something I've been planning for some time, and I've finally had chance tonight to sit down and plan it all, and write up Chapter 1 ^^
Please keep all feedback in this thread ^^ Feedback is much appreciated!
At the moment the title is a WIP...but this is what I'm sticking with at the moment.
It is the year 2038 and the world is once again at war. Communism was never overthrown and the Soviet Union never disbanded. Disgusted at the gluttony and superficial attitude of Western Culture, The Soviet Union formed an alliance with China, and together, they waged war against the West. Shocking an unprepared world, the forces of communism secured swift victories over the vast majority of Europe and the Asian territories, who have surrendered and converted to communism. While France, The United Kingdom, The United States of America and the Commonwealth Countries are the only states not under Communist control.
The Washington Conference of 2018 saw to it that Universal Nuclear Disarmament became a reality. This new war is one fought without Nuclear Weapons, or Weapons Of Mass Destruction. After all, the Eastern Powers do not wish to rule over a destroyed Earth, and the Western Alliance do not wish to exterminate countless innocent lives.
This war is fought with startling new developments in human evolution. Mutants. These are extraordinary humans born with amazing powers. Both sides hope that, by utilizing these people, the war can be fought efficiently and cheaply, with as little collateral damage as possible. The Eastern Powers have already shown how damaging a crack team of Mutants can be, with a small task force easily disabling entire countries.
There is a problem, though. Mutants are rare, and some can’t control their powers. However, both sides are seemingly evenly matched and locked in a stalemate; huge trenches and fortresses being built within France by the Western Alliance, who are using the country as a base for their military forces. While Germany is being used by the Eastern Powers for this same purpose, while the two forces aren't engaged in combat, arbitrary bombing takes place. Although it looks as if this conflict will never end, a young girl born with the powers of prophecy has seen the end of the war. Yet it is currently unclear to her as to which side will end up victorious.
It is almost certain though; that whichever side can most effectively harness the destructive capabilities of the mutants will have the upper hand in this conflict, and tip the balance of power back in their favour . . .
Benjamin Hawke: A young millionaire with the powers of Telepathy and Telekinesis. He co-operates with the Western Alliance after he convinced them to abandon a vicious Anti-Mutant policy. He provides a home for the mutants working with the Western Alliance, has a special relationship with Sonnet.
Sonnet Kitamura: A young Asian woman working with the Western Alliance against the eastern powers. Her Father was a politician who spoke out against the war and was murdered by the Chinese regime. Able to harness the powers of both Fire and Ice, Sonnet remains terrified of Fire after her home and parents were burnt to the ground.
Rose Aria: A young girl orphaned by the horrors of war. Scared of her weather channeling powers and unwilling to fight, she is one of the most powerful mutants on the side of the Western Alliance, however, her refusal to fight is a constant source of conflict between her and government officials.
Nero Tenebrae: A boy, who was always on the run, it’s unsurprising that his mutation granted him the special power of super-speed. Having lost his parents in the Battle for Italy, Nero is full of anger and wants revenge on the Eastern Alliance, particularly against Alexandra Roberts, the General who spearheaded the invasion of Italy.
Daniel Mason: His powers of Electrokineses made him a highly valuable mutant. Captured by the Eastern Powers, with help from Mirandri, he is now forced to power their factories of death. It is not inconceivable to think that, should Mason be rescued, the balance of power would tip back in favour to the Western Alliance.
Serena Noir: The newest mutant discovered, and perhaps the most significant one yet. She possesses the power of premonition, as well as other powers she can’t control at will. However, she can’t control her premonitions, leading to her parents having her placed into an asylum. Her most frequently reoccurring prophecy is one that could shape the fate of the world . . .
Mirandri Cascade: A shapeshifter working with the Eastern Powers, she’s managed to seduce and murder many a politician, her motives are unknown, but she’s top of the government’s most wanted list.
Alexandra "AJ" Janet Roberts: A Top General in the forces of the Eastern powers. Her powers of Healing, Super Strength, and Reflexes are unnatural. The government were experimenting on children to create super-humans, and AJ was the first success. However, she has no emotions because of the process, and is essentially a slave.
Tyler Romero: A young man who passionately hates everything the West stands for. His only desire is to see the Western Alliance burn. Controlling the power of fire, he is the one who executed Sonnet’s Parents.
Zora Merces – His parents are political prisoners of war, put under house arrest when it was discovered they wanted to join the Western Alliance, believing Zora could help Western Alliance War Efforts. Now, against his will, Zora helps out the Eastern Powers, knowing that, should he refuse, his parents will be put to death.
Damien Hallow – Coming from one of the poorest countries in the world, Damien gladly co-operated with the Eastern Powers when they invaded. Closely associated with Mirandri, Damien often uses his powers of teleportation to aid her. Damien's control of the wind means that, without Rose Aria’s co-operation, the Western Alliance is unable to bomb Eastern War factories.
Katerina Petrova – One of the most powerful mutants on the planet, her power of Metallokinesis makes her virtually indestructible. Having survived several attempts on her life, Katerina remains a truly destructive force. Vital in the Russian army for achieving several early victories single-handedly, Katerina is one of the most feared mutants in the Eastern Powers arsenal.
