What do you prefer looking at pictures and sketches, or movies.
I personally prefer black and white because:

1.) I just about suck at coloring my drawings.
2.) It's much better suited for linear drawings -- which is exactly what I do.
and
3.) It's a challenge to show emotion in black and white.

As for color, it could be because...it's the exact opposite of the above, plus it's more livelier.

I prefer black and white photographs and colored drawings.
It doesn't matter if drawings are colored badly, it's just the variation in color that leaps out at me. =]

I love looking at how shadows are demonstrated on objects. Specifically the ones that have no color to them. I feel it brings them more to life.

No color.

I prefer black and white when looking at pictures and sketches, then colored when watching a movie.

Black and white seems to bring more realism. For instance, if I do a sketch in pencil or non-colored charcoal, I can definitely make it look realistic with a few techniques here and there. To me, it's not really a challenge to make the picture look realistic.

I kinda have a hard time making things look more realistic by using colored art tools though. That's something I need to work on. I guess I'm just used to using pencils since it is my preferance. Black and white.

Also, I feel that looking at black and white photographs brings more character. Like, it reminds me of the "past" in general. Old memories.

Yeah, it probably don't make any sense to you guys, but that's just how I feel.

I would have to say colored. Unless it's an old picture or movie, then I would prefer it to stay in black and white.

I prefer color to black and white. Black and white though is alright sometimes, really artsy for photographs and such, but I don't know when I see black and white, it looks so depressing sometimes, reminds me of oldness

Photos of women? B&W. They're so much sexier that way. For some reason.

Artwork? Colours, colours, and more colours!

When it comes to sketches like my sig below, I like black and white. Movies however, I like them in color except old classics, then B&W.

Color shows the true image of everything, so I picked that. Sure black and white is ok to show vintage at times, but colored illuminates almost everything and makes it more vibrant.

Definatly black and white, I think it conveys a huge amount of emotion if done correctly. Look at the films Rumble Fish and Schindlers List. They would not have had anywhere near the same impact if shown completely in colour. Both did use colour in a limited way with the fighting fish in Rumble Fish and the little Jewish girl in Schindlers list, but this just made the films black and white more startling.

photos in black and white convey to me an endless quality be they of a wizend old man or a young child, a windswept seascape or a boiling desert land. I find them magical.

For drawing....I prefer black and white. I don't like using color pencils because I know I'll mess up some how. I'm lazy too to color as well. Also, drawing in black and white presents more shadows and depth than color.

i like colours, because i love things to be vibrant and lively!

Color does add the vibrant quality to work, but so can black and white if used correctly, no?
Same goes for the colored drawings, if it's misused it's probably not going to look too vibrant, so I guess it depends on the artist of whether or not they get that quality or not.
