I've made this thread to discuss the possibility of another sequel to Final Fantasy VII as a result of being introduced to Genesis in Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. I've placed this thread here because I'm not actually going to discuss either game, but discuss why the events in each suggest we should expect another sequel. Warning: spoilers for both games are likely to be abundant.

For those of you who have seen the end to Crisis Core, you'll have been able to gather that the best of Genesis is yet to come. He was taken away by two men in a Shinra Helicopter - long story short, these two soldiers are confirmed to be Weiss and Nero, two very important characters in Dirge of Cerberus. When Weiss picks up Genesis, he refers to him as his brother. Similarly, at the end of Dirge of Cerberus, the character we know to be Genesis [hilariously played by Gackt :wacky:] also refers to Weiss as his brother and states that "it is not yet time."

Those of you with a keen eye will notice the ridiculously large wing attached to Genesis, which suggests that he is still degrading [and still alive, for that matter]. The end of Dirge of Cerberus does nothing but leave fans to further speculate.

So, unless I'm missing something really obvious, I'm convinced that there's going to be at least one more title after DoC - they can't leave Genesis and his intentions as such a mystery.
 
I definitely think that there will be another follow-up game. Although, I think it might be done in a different fashion. I think that Square Enix will create an all-encompassing game...which features FF7 from the beginning, to the end, on the PS3. It'll have Before Crisis, Crisis Core, FF7, Advent Children, DoC, and the ending...all rolled into one game.

That's my speculation, at least. But, there will definitely be some sort of FF7-game for the PS3. I think it's be cool if they do it like I hope they will.
 
Haven't played CC yet, but I've been spoiled enough to get the jist of some stuff, and having played DoC, there's definitely some loose ends to tie up. It's logical to assume that there's another installment, but in what form, who knows?

AC took place after FFVII, and DoC after that, but DoC never makes any reference to AC aside from the graphics. Perhaps because AC wasn't a game it wasn't included in the DoC story. So likely another FFVII game will come about instead of another movie.

Dah...Did that make sense o_O
 
Well it has been in the design for the compilation to last 'till the twentieth anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy VII. So it is planned to have many more sequels and prequels. The only catch is they wont keep going if no one is buying the games. Point being that since Crisis Core was a huge success for the PSP, SE is definitely planning to release another compilation title, whether this is a sequel or prequel or even a REMAKE I have no idea. I remember promising in a post about something I can't remember which it was.. anyways I guaranteed a sequel that will take place after the events of DOC. So I am 100% convinced that they will make a post-DOC title, and the proof is they still have 9 years to make one, and their is a big hole in the plot that has been introduced due to the secret ending to DOC. :) GO CANADA!! (NO OLYMPIC MEDALS :()

Just as Dreamer said, SE said the FF7 Compilation would last till their 20th Anniversary... meaning they still have 9 years to develop games. Now, I haven't played DoC but from what I heard there are still some lose knots... and I'm sure SE is going to use these to develop either a sequel or a prequel. I'm really not sure what they're going to do but I believe it'd be more logical for them to do a sequel....something after DoC due to Genesis's hidden intentions which apparently weren't explained in DoC.

But yeah, something is coming for sure. I read somewhere that SE was going to release another game sometime soon. Just don't remember where I read that:P So yeah, expect something in the following years! xD
 
I'm convinced there will be another sequel, DoC was just left to open what with Genesis flying off with Weiss at the end - Crisis Core just made me think it even more what with Genesis being properly introduced....

If hadn't seen the secret ending on Youtuber I wouldn't of thought anything of the end DoC but CC would have still got me on one because he gets dragged into thathelicopter

I bet it won't just be one sequel either -__-
 
of course there will be another sequel, just to round things off with Genesis. The hidden ending to DoC pretty much shouts that out. However its a strong belief with some people that Genesis will come back as a Protagonist or ally. If this is the case, I predict another coming of Sephiroth with the two settling scores as they always saw each other as rivals in the first place so its the logical way to go storywise.








I don't care as long as Jonny makes a comeback.

Keep in mind, he didn't die either, Kadaj did, and then Sephiroth stopped manifesting himself.
So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a sequal with both Genesis and the One Winged Angel too. ;D

That could be truly epic. Though, I doubt they'd use too much of Crisis Core's storyline, except more flashbacks.
I will buy a PS3 FFVII game, no matter if it is a remake, compilation, with the exception of a DoC-style shooter. No thanks.
 
One thing that I've always thought that SE might create is a sequel to FFVII, but a prequel to AC.

The story following Aerith in the Lifestream with Zack, Jesse, etc, and what they do to combat the Geostigma in the Lifestream caused by Sephiroth (if that's completely wrong, please correct me. I only have a vague memory of this.) It could lead right into AC, considering the plot of the mentioned movie.

But yeah, I've always thought that there would be another sequel after DoC. Genesis was just left out in the open ... no doubt Square are considering or even planning a sequel right now. But, I reckon it might be a type of game we've not played before in the compilation. DoC was a shooter, so this unnamed sequel might be something of a different genre of game as well.
 
I'd like to see a massive showdown between Sephiroth and Genesis, with Cloud and crew caught up in the middle, Sephiroth not allied to anyone, Genesis not allied to anyone, and Cloud & crew not knowing what exactly to do, take out Sephiroth at the expense of Genesis being able to carry out a world domination/destruction type of plan, or take out Genesis at the expense of Sephiroth using the planet to travel the cosmos like Jenova.

Sephiroth vs Genesis vs Cloud in a massive free for all. How it could be done I don't know, but it just seems like it could be cool.
 
^ That would be cool, and you can fight the one you didn't kill later. However, things should go back to the ATB. No shooters, no CC style, good 'ol fashion bars. ^^
