IGN Top 25 FF Characters

What in the fuck are Selphie, Wakka, Jecht and Steiner doing on that list? Ugh, I seriously expected the list to be more logical coming from IGN. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say whoever worked on that list was tripping balls.

But at least they had good sense to include Delita, and hurray for Vivi being number 2, I wasn't expecting that

Although Sephiroth was the most obvious choice for #1, but this just proved to be a a VII fanfest. I was glad that Steiner (IX), Laguna (VIII), Celes (VI), Faris (V), Balthier (XII),and Cid (VII) were on the list; they were some of my favorites.

The best part of the whole list was Vivi >>>>>>> Cloud. Vivi is my all-time favorite character; I'm glad he was #2.

Just makes me churn a little inside to see that Cloud and Sephiroth are up so high. They're only good for their looks, and Sephiroth isnt all that great looking.

I went into the list without reading any of the posts by anyone here as not to spoil it but I pretty much suspected Seph at #1. Oh that Sephiroth.


Interesting that Cloud is up so high, I wouldn't expect that, but oh well. But yeah, Go LULU!

Now I have NO idea how the hell Wakka was voted into that poll, he's one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen in a FF game. Or Jecht for that matter, he looked like he just crawled out of a trashy trailer park. I can see that look being a novelty in Japan....but not in America x_X

I think not.

I agree with you about Selphie. But unless we're talking about sheer badassery, Yuna beats Beatrix. Her character is substantially more developed and Beatrix has the standard role of "loyal soldier doubts master, eventually realizes the truth, switches sides." It's a pretty common archetype and Beatrix just happens to be cool enough to make it forgivable.

Oh, and Yuna would slaughter Beatrix in a fight with either Holy or a summon. By "badassery" I meant Beatrix's attitude and ruthlessness. Her move set was rather disappointing, considering how legendary she was in the world of IX.

I figured Auron and Squall were particularly popular. Definitely more so than Wakka...

There were some others that made me go "wtf," but I'm too lazy to go back to the list and hunt 'em down.

I saw a few FFXII characters in there. Should have been a quick indicator that I wouldn't be agreeing with much.

One-dimensional? We see quite clearly how Auron originally was and how his travels with Braska and Jecht changed him into tha man who travels with the party. We saw his sacrifice, his emotions for his lost friends (even ex-friends like Kinoc) and generally he had the perfect blend of badass and emotion.

It was the first one that I played and I loved the game. Maybe some ppl fall in the same boat as me, I dont know. No I'm not saying you can't have your own opinion. It's a free country I know that. I was voicing mine and saying how I'm tired of all that fanboy stuff if you like VII thats what you are. Actually 2 things I agree with you on you said about Zack being a better main character. I loved Zack in CC. I loved being able to control him and see his storyline, background, he's a sweet and loving person.
Another is Hojo, and I actually watched a video on youtube about FFVII. And this person was talking about Hojo being the villain behind the villain. I never really thought about it like that, until then. So kudos man.
