IGN Top 25 FF Characters

Cloud should have done better than Sephiroth IMO and also WTF was selphie doing on the list i mean come on she is crap!!!
 
The Major problem I had with the list, besides the obvious FFVII bias, is the amateurish, brusk, and poorly worded descriptions given for each choice. I mean even our posts would pass as better summaries.

They're two of the most popular characters because the fanboys look through fucking nostalgia goggles and would never ever dare admit there are better games and characters out there. That right there is a prime example of being biased.

And if one person speaks of them or even hints anything on them they're one of 2 ppl: biased, or they're "fanboys". I never understood how ppl are fanboys if they like FFVII.

It's fine if someone likes Cloud or Sephi and VII, it doesn't automatically make them biased or fanboys. But once they cross into the realm of "ZOMG SEPHI IS SO HAWT HES TOTALLY THE BEST VILLAIN CLOUD IS SUCH A DEEP CHARACTER AND HES SO MISUNDERSTOOD" then they become biased fanboys.

No shit sherlock. Like Derek said, they've been whored to death by Square Enix, so OBVIOUSLY they're going to be the most recognizable. Although I daresay that Yuna and Tidus are probably almost just as recognizable as those two fanwanks.

You either like the game deep down and can't bring yourself to say it so you constantly slam it when you get the chance. Or you have nothing else better to do and you just love to bash the game so you can get ppl fired up and mad.

Or maybe there's people who can look at a game's storyline and characters objectively and realize that, while decent, they're very lacking. The story is decent, but it's not epic. The characters are lackluster and have very little deep development to them. "K guise, here's Cloud. He has mental problems because he was experimented on and stole his dead friend's identity. Here's his friend Tifa, she works in a bar and was best friends with Cloud's dead friend and now plays along with Cloud's identity crisis to fool herself. Oh, and here's Cid, he was a pilot, ShinRa fucked him over, he hates them." Deep shit right there, isn't it? I like VII, but I don't fap to it and call it the best RPG evar.

I'm not angry, I'm actually laughing as I post this because you act like a 5yr old whining and pouting from not getting his/her way in the toy store.

I'll whine if I damn well please to. It's obvious that most of the people who voted on that poll are either newfags to FF and haven't played enough of the series or are wapanese faggots who drool over anything with spikey hair and big swords.

Ok calm down. Some people here do not agree with the list and they are free to state their opinion on the matter. Some of us do feel that a few characters were overlooked and that some should just not be there.
 
No Auron? Well... that's a surprise.

No surprise that Sephiroth is #1 though.

Thats fine and I have no problem with that. I know we all have different opinions, if we didn't then there'd be no point to this forum board. However there's a difference between claiming characters were overlooked, and being ignorant and bashing a game. I dont care if ppl dont like sephiroth or cloud, I personally don't care for them myself. However, I'm not going to sit here and constantly see one of my favorite games get bashed. I can't stand it, call me a fanboy all you like if you choose to. I've played VII,VIII,IX,X,X-2,CC, I have yet to play any of the previous games as I dont have a Super Nintendo. So it's not like I have only played VII and am like ZOMG BIG SWORDS AND SPIKEY HAIR RAWRRRR. No I'm not doing that. I simply just prefer this game over the others.
And again, no disrespect is intended to any of the posters on here. I just don't like this game getting bashed. We all have different opinions sure, but come on just because you didn't see a specific character get up there doesnt mean you have to create a wrath of hate on the game.

Not suprised Sephy and Cloud where up there, Im not gunna complain bowt that :neomon:

Uber defensiveness is a telltale sign of a fanboy. I don't know if you've been paying attention, or if your mind automatically jumps to "ZOMG TEH VII HATERS R RAGIN" whenever you see people complaining about Sephi and Cloud, but NOBODY here has actually insulted VII. There have been alot of complaints about Cloud and Sephi being so high, as well as some insults towards them and their fanboys...but nobody has insulted the game.

You might wanna read posts more thoroughly before jumping to conclusions.

I'm surprised Vivi was on there too, but it's a bit stupid Zidane or Kuja weren't on it. I'm happy about no Auron though, he sucked.

Auron is about as overrated amongst the X fans as Cloud or Sephiroth are, and seeing as how there are a ton of X fanfags out there, I was quite surprised he was on the list. Even more surprised Wakka made it. Ugh, even fucking O'aka III the merchant was more tolerable than him.
 
I'd like to hop the appeal for Wakka was his exceptional overdrive, attack reels just blew everything else out of the water....just a shame he had a god awful accent...I didn't really mind his character but the accent.....

He was always in my party anyway... :wacky:

Meh, I didn't care for his attack reels just because I suck at those slot things. I never bothered to get it past the first stage anyway since I couldn't be arsed to play blitzball.

He was a pretty good character in-battle though, I used him quite frequently....can't say for storyline. His religious-based bigotry pissed me off alot and reminded me of my mom. His design was kind of silly too, I wanted to give him a haircut.

So suddenly we're reading realism into a game where people can hold their breath underwater for upwards of 20 minutes, retain their bodies after death without decomposing, and summon souls that have morphed into giant beasts? Your logic is flawed.

Tidus likes Yuna anyway, and he's faster than Auron, so he'd just smack the guy in the jaw or trip him before he got to Yuna. And if we're going to read further realism into this, the argument of Auron being able to own them all is flawed simply because he would never even attempt to do that, he's a guardian.

On topic: what was Mog doing on the list? Yeah, he's cute and all...but he's far from a great character. And what was Tonberry doing on the list? I love Tonberries but they're not exactly characters o_O Geez, even the poll was flawed.
 
I was very happy and quite surprised that Faris made the list. ^_^. I think that she is one of the more interesting female characters in the series, despite V lacking character development. She was at least different from most of the female chartacters presented to us. She wasn't in love with any of the guys, she was independent, and she was pretty tough for being a princess. :P

Uh...why? He's just a dancer and a geomancer, an optional character, and has absolutely no bearing on the plot. Why, pray tell, should he be number one? Have you even played VI, or are you just shouting MOG FTW because he looks cute? Of course the poll is talking about moogles in general...so it's slightly less ridiculous to have them at the 5th spot. At least in IX and XII moogles play a rather large role.
