Personally, I would try to give it back to whoever owns it. But it's a tough one, ive never been in this type of situation before so it depends on how I'm feeling at that moment. Plus, it could be some hidden camera show catching people out haha...

What would you do?

I would stash it. If someone's careless enough to lose that much money, they must
-not care
-have ADD and didn't notice or remember
-is stupid... Far too stupid to ever be trusted with money
-or are rich enough not to give a damn.

It's only a G. Not much you can do with it, I'd try to return it, halfheartedly, then if that didn't work out, pocket it.

It depends.
If I find it laying on the ground with no one around, I'd take it with the mindframe that some jackass would tax me for my money too...

But if I saw someone drop their money, I would hand it to them, as I always do...

As Wulfe said...it's only a grand....
Anyone who carries a grand in cash is either well off to begin with, or just a total idiot who deserves to be taxed themself.

Being honest where would i find this $1000. If it were just lying on teh groung then that's that guyz loss. I mean who is honestly going to go back to where ever they were to get money they dropped. Knowing people nowadays.

Now if it were in his wallet i would return it and not mess with anything inside.

ok to clear it up, the money was in a bag, which belonged to an elderly person... this person was probably making some sort of payment and just completely forgot about the bag...

I think i would prefer to just give it to the police in the hopes that whoever owns it will go to them, and if they are suspects, the police will investigate... I'm not prepared to spend someone elses money. It would make me a hypocrite as I wouldnt want that happen to me and I myself has done something careless at some time in my life. I lost my wallet with 50 bucks in it once for example...

If I found a $1000....hmm......

I wouldn't even consider pocketing it unless the true owner of the money can't be found. But if it was something like a quarter or something, I probably would pocket it, but a thousand?? No way.
I actually practice the golden rule,....even though it doesn't always give back -_-

Since you're supposedly so awash in cash that $1000 is nothing but chump change to you, why the hell would you pick it up in the first place? You should be hiring someone to pick it up for you.

I think what he means is more along the lines of...
Wtf can you buy with a grand? A few material things? It doesn't go too far. When you have responsibilities like bills, payments, groceries to buy, etc...it isn't all that much.
On a typical basis, my bf and I spend a thousand dollars in less than 2 weeks; on things like bills and groceries...everything I mentioned.

A bigger test would be...finding 10 Gs...
That I wouldn't know wtf to do with. o.0

lol...if i found 1000$ I would take it..Run like hell was chasing me...and never look back..i know it sound gready but i dont care ...lol

Because that's a waste. No matter how much $ one may have, "A fool and his money are soon parted". Were I to follow your path of indulgence, I soon wouldn't supposedly be so awash in cash any longer.

And in todays world a G really isn't that much cash, believe it or not. Anyone moron with half a brain and no G.E.D. can earn the same amount of money relatively quickly. And for a well educated, intelligent person, it's even easier to spend said $$, on things like higher learning, car payments, mortgages e.t.c.

That's pretty much exactly what I meant.

How in the seven hells did I get all that information? If I knew all that, then I would also know who the money belonged to, and how to return it. As such, I'd return the cash to its rightful owner.

Sorry Booger, I posted before I read yours! XP! I do, however, wholeheartedly agree and have edited my post with a quote from you accordingly.

Look at me. I never graduated highschool; granted I do have a GED, but I can still manage to come up with a G in less than a month, and that's with only one job. You just have to be smart with your money and know how to talk your way into a decent job.
Not to mention that if you're a total ingrate, you'll get like a G from the government each month anyway. lol.

Thats the thing... you never know who it belongs to... it could belong to some drug dealer... but there is that possibility itt belonged to someone legit...

so one solution for me, give it to the cops if i dont know who it belongs to

And I bet you never got it returned.

I honestly see no point in trying to get the money back to the person. If it's a bag of money on the street, anyone could come and claim it for their own.
