Is that so?, well this is news to me I thought you at least needed DlP or LCD television set to play.

No. You can configure the settings quite easily to maximize the output capabilities to match your current television and connectivity. I for instance, own an LCD television, however I lack the HDMI output cable. As such, even though I own an HD T.V. I've set my machine to perform via the RGB cable, because that's what it's currently connected to the tv with.
