Adamant is planning on doing a totally different game because he feels the present game has a lot of flaws. I would like to know how the players feel about it.

The following are his proposed ideas.

There isn't much left to do with the RPG, as we all know, yet there are still quite a few new players that would probably be interested in the RPG if it wasn't so complicated and party oriented. The RPG we designed was based on what we could do in the Beta release- we have a lot more tools now, and we can make the game a lot cleaner. Plus, you have some other major problems going on with the game, like the following:

-NPC's are not coordinated, meaning many conversations do not make much sense
-Monsters stats are over-inflated because of the enormous advantage dual wielding gives
-Stats are enormously unbalanced away from HP and MP
-PvP battles result in mostly one hit kills
-Depending on the world map to move everywhere is a major pain

Here is my "solution" to some of these issues:

Players should start with the following stats:
HP:100
MP:100
STR:10
DEF:10
MAG:10
MAGDEF:10
DEX:10
EVA:10
SPD:10

The max stats should be as follows:
HP:1000
MP:1000
STR:100
DEF:100
MAG:100
MAGDEF:100
DEX:100
EVA:100
SPD:100

The attribute increments should be as follows:
HP:10 per attribute point
MP:10 per attribute point
STR:1 per attribute point
DEF:1 per attribute point
MAG:1 per attribute point
MAGDEF:1 per attribute point
DEX:1 per attribute point
EVA:1 per attribute point
SPD:1 per attribute point

Each player should get 5 attribute points per level. The theoretical max level should be Lv. 100.

Hand equipped weapons will almost ALL un-dual-wieldable, except perhaps a very weak weapon that a player can gain far into the game. A player should not be able to EVER do over, say, 200 damage with equipped weapons. Spells should do a maximum of 600 damage, and up to 1000 if it is a poison effect.

Spells would be virtually ONLY damaged based spells, though they could have other effectors, like a "poison gun" could lower the opponents DEX. Potions will come in permanently limited quantities- they will serve as “ammo” and “medipacks”, and will come only from NPCs, but players can hold an unlimited supply of them. The only inn will be at the very beginning of the game, it will be expensive, and it will be relatively far away from a location you can get to from the world map.

NPC's would function only as "advisers" that tell you basic info about your mission, and possibly give you bonus items. They would ALL be controlled by variables set by a "master NPC" at the beginning of the game (which would be further controlled by a "has not visited location X" condition.

Components, enchantments, and pets should be completely removed. They are not necessary and complicate a perfectly fine battle system. Defensive armor will come in “sets” and will ONLY serve as a means to increase the player’s DEF after certain story events. Attacking weapons will also be limited but will mostly be found through non-essential NPC’s.

The majority of locations will be hidden. There will be a few specific “warp rooms” in strategic locations that players can access any time through the world map. A helper NPC will appear in each of these rooms. They will unlock new warp rooms once the player has fulfilled specific mission objectives.

Enemy monsters will follow EXACTLY the same level scheme as players do. If an area needs to be tougher, more bots can be added. Honestly, making bots that have tougher-than-player stats is completely unnecessary, even for bosses.

Do you agree with these plans. Do you really feel the game has the flaws he mentions.

How do you feel about the game being reset?

I'm assuming you could guess what my response would be, since it would mean that i had just wasted the last 3 months of my life. The idea itself sounds good but maybe it would have been a good idea to have done that in the first place?

I dont like the idea cause it seems to rule out alot of the intresting stuff like pets and components
If there was more quests in the current one it would be cool

And besides it took me ages to lv up like this

Well I don't agree with reseting the RPG since it took three months to make the current game. Also it would be unfair for those players who haven't reached the Castle Pandemonium yet. Honestly I don't believe that there aren't many flaws that there were mentioned and also the idea of improving the RPG Inferno with the next version is to add new features to the game not take them away.

Also I would like to see another thing besides that useless List Box that was used for Clans in the RPG Inferno 2.4...heheh that was random but I had to say it, that box WAS useless...

HEY, GUESS WHAT BUD, GOLD VERSION IS A HELL OF A LONG TIME AWAY FROM BEING RELEASED. YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO LEVEL UP YOUR CHARACTER.

Plus, there are a LOT of stuff we can do now that we could not do in the past- that's why we didn't have these changes in the first place. The new triggers that got added in Alpha 5 and RC1 come to mind, ZT may be adding even more once gold comes out.

And Koloth, please don't repost the mod threads here again. The reason I PUT it there is so there wouldn't be some "the rpg is coming to an end" rumor going around. It's not, I just really hate how the defaults have been set up. Since you didn't ask about this, I think I have the right to change the HP default to 20, where it belongs. Good day. :)

Tiel, STL and I discussed this with Darkblade first. He felt that either tiel, STL or I needed to start a poll about it. Since you had some plans for a new game, I chose to post your plans. This prevents any rumors. It puts possible ideas in the open.

Darkblade felt that the members should have a say in the matter.

Also, ZT was planning to have Gold released by the end of the month. From a later post, of his, it could be longer. But I do not see it taking more than a month to release Gold. But I could be wrong.

Yes, any new game should be using added features instead of taking features away.

I don't care one way or another. I don't really participate in the RPG at the moment because of inactivity and lack of posts, but whatever needs to be done to make the RPG the best that it can be, than I am all for it.

Koloths Perfect RPG- Only the top 10 players are allowed to have any serious chance at competitions, newer players who did not start early have no chance of ever being able to finish the game.

Adamant's Perfect RPG- Everyone has a shot at winning competitions, though higher leveled players still have a noticable advantage. Any player can go through the entire game at any time with or without a party.

As a member who has just started playing, which would you rather do?

I could live with it.

Something different, and another form of challenge.

And since there's still some time, I have a chance to beat the thing still, right? :P

Maybe come up with a compromise? like reset it to make it fairer but give the players who really have worked on it for the past 3 months an extra advantage at the start?

Of course. You would have plenty of time. However, I think with the new stat setup, I may not have to reset it after all- I could just offer players the option of choosing a game to play through when they start an account.

Remember, people, read his initial idea. He was initially planning to remove the option of using some of the game's cool features. Do not let his fast talk pull you in.

OK, How about the Mods just be quiet for the moment and let the members tell us what THEY want because we are making the game for THEM in the first place. Having us bicker about this is stupid and trying to use cheap words to make members agree with us or not is wrong. The basic idea of this thread is to get the members opinion of whether they want the RPG reset or not. So let them go ahead and voice their opinions already and stop fighting.

Removing some cool features, he may do... But it also sounds like some others could be added. I'm curious, really. <_<

Besides, once you're done with this one, there isn't much more to do, aside from levelling and such.

... Which brings me to wonder where the Shadow Weave is... <_< :P

The stats and restrictions don't sound appealing, as it drastically cuts the variations in monsters. The max stat there would just make the game far too tedious. 100? Come on... >.>

I haven't played a great deal, but I've seen most, if not all, of the features. Removing any of those would just seem stupid. Slight modifications, perhaps, but nothing drastic.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the way it is now... well, from my point in progression anyway.

Guess I'll say a little something. I like the new stats idea. It follows most FF games by going up to 100 for each parameter. However I would like to keep the party system, as it adds a little mor fun into the game. And I would like to have the summons stay. I personally like summons, and they to add to the fun. Components and enchantments are also another thing I find, well fine. Crafting your own equipment is really fun and you get to give them their own unique names. I wouldn't mind it being reset if those things stayed.
