i think they could have made it better BY:

1) getting rid of the DMW. it was such a boring, repetative system and towards the end of the game, became more of an annoyance.

2) turn-based battling rather than turn-based free roaming thing they had going on there.

3) locations. the locations didnt feel nostalgic enough for me, probably because we didn't see Midgar properly, at least that's what i feel. i would have liked to visit more places in Gaia (the FF7 world) and had them look at least similar to the way they were in FF7.

I mean, Wutai, you couldn't explore the island, you just got to take out loads of army guys. ah well.

4) the relationship with Aries. they never even shared a kiss or held hands yet they were supposed to be amazingly close. i think this is more of a way of showing affection rather than it just being in the mind. either way, i still liked the way it was done.

5) Sephiroths involvement in the game.. At times he seemed like a nice guy, yet we know he's one of the worst villains ever.

in fact, this is where i have a question, i think i'll ask in my other topic.

anyway, what do YOU think could have improved CC?

I didn't like it at first, but I did get used to it and it was something different, only thing I hated aboiut it was the random factor in levelling up. oVerall though, I thought it was a nice touch, and in a way, made it that bit more realistic because it wqas ll in his head...or w/e :wacky:

I really liked it, felt it made it flow abit better, if it was turn based, it would of drawn the game out far too much, especially with onlyhaving the one character

Agreed, since when was the shinra mansion so big......and Wutai, Id of at least liked an area I recognised... I'd of liked to have seen more areas aswel, only place that really lived up to anything (looks wise) IMO was Nibelheim, but even that was abit....meh. Kalm would have been nice, as would Rocket town, y'know, going to see the failed Rocket takeoff, Im prety sure alot of people would have turned out to see it take off....or not, as it were. So yeah, Im with you 100% on that point

4) the relationship with Aries. they never even shared a kiss or held hands yet they were supposed to be amazingly close. i think this is more of a way of showing affection rather than it just being in the mind. either way, i still liked the way it was done.

They made her too annoying for my liking......flower wagon this, flower wagon that...UGH. Also, according tho Zack in VII I got the impresion they weren't actually all that close (from that scene whe3n you revisit Shinra mansion after cloud finds himself) they just dated for a while. And Cloud asked did you love him or something along those lines and she answers 'no, but I liked him for a while' Or maybe that's just me......

5) Sephiroths involvement in the game.. At times he seemed like a nice guy, yet we know he's one of the worst villains ever.

Id assume he WAS a nice guy before he cracked up in Nibelheim, made him seem more human and whathaveyou. I rather liked him in CC

anyway, what do YOU think could have improved CC?

Yes. as stated in afew of my points above. Also I think they included to many extra characters that just werent ever explained or seen of in VII (which, obv they wouldnt do) and I just think that ruins it a little. I would have been ok (just with Genesis and Angeal, but Hollander? Whhhhy complicate it. He jsut wasnt necessary AT ALL. It could have easily been Hojo doing whatever it is Hollander was meant to be doing.

Also Cissnei. Just dissapear of the face of the earthdid she? She isnt in any other game aside from CC (oh and BC...but well, mobile game ¬.¬)

I think there is quite alot they could have done to improve it, but I also know that it would have made the story shorter.....eugh. Im sure if they actually got their heads together they could have thought of something -__-

yep totally agree, the random leveling up was a bit of a pain, but i need to point out that the DMW didn't actually seem all that 'random' to me. There were times when it would help you and times where it wouldn't. It seems as if they have coded the game to help you in places and make it more difficult in others.

that's true and probably the reason for it

the Shinra mansions size didn't bother me too much, i actually liked it to a degree, my only gripe was the surrounding area and the photos that were taken by the photographer. They were not 100% like the original and the consistancy issue arises again but overall it was nice enough. But yeah, like you say, it would have been in Squares best interest to show the Rocket attempting take off since there was a prototype (or it may have been the exact rocket in the Exibit Room).. but ah well.

If you look at Nibelheim in this picture from the original FFVII;

they did get it pretty much spot on, but as we have said, why could they not have created more towns for nostalgia purposes? maybe because they don't want to spoil it for the remake of FFVII on the PS3?? haha i wish.. :D

COMPLETELY agree, i picked up on this too. Aries is known as 'the flower girl' but they made her sound stupid and all loved up. I mean, 80+ letters sent to Zack and in the original she said 'no but i liked him for a while'. That's another consistancy issue. I REALLY need to play FFVII again because i am probably missing even more points out about the love triangle.

Id assume he WAS a nice guy before he cracked up in Nibelheim, made him seem more human and whathaveyou. I rather liked him in CC

yep, thats my only explanation too

Yes. as stated in afew of my points above. Hollander, i still dont fully understand his roll in FFVII, wasn't it to do with Lucrecia? it gets so so complicated

Cissnei seems to be a character Square-Enix have created, i am 90% sure Square-soft didn't have a Cissnei being mentioned in anything other than the Compilation of FFVII games. I mean, her role in CC is wasted because in FFVII, Cloud NEVER mentioned her, or even acknowledged she existed. What became of Cissnei? Because in FFVII she wasn't with the Turks.

I think there is quite alot they could have done to improve it, but I also know that it would have made the story shorter.....eugh. Im sure if they actually got their heads together they could have thought of something -__-

oh and one more point. Another inconsistancy, in FFVII, the mansion was right behind Nibelheim but in CC, you have to travel quite a bit uphil then round a corner with lots of mountains... hmmmm

At this time I feel like commenting on the DMW and at first, I didn't like it for the simple fact that it was so different... but I discovered something neat and it sometimes gives a few tidbits of Zack's random memories... like Sephiroth giving Zack a quick lesson in swordsmanship, Aerith laughing at Zack's haircut, Cloud's concern while in Nibelheim the night before the reactor mission....

It seems that if you just tap on the square button it increases the chance that you will see it and it will keep one in progress from being skipped.

.... Well, I love real time game play. In the PSX game I turn on the ATB (active time battle) mode which turns off the the concept of 'true' turn-based battles. (this was later implemented in future Final Fantasy Games but not as an option.)

Well the rest... I honestly have no real opinion on... the game was linear so the maps were of course limited, and Aerith has a game mechanic where the amount of affection shown. Then Sephiroth... it just showed how he was when he still had his humanity, that's all.

The only real thing I have beef with is the Mission's. All incredibly boring and tedious. They should have cut the number of missions down (your only doing them for the rewards, and most of them are rewards you already get elsewhere) in order to make the rest longer and actually have some sort of plot line or something. Not just 'go to random area, kill all enemies and get the treasure'. Lame.

Other than that it was a top-notch little game.

that's a point i haven't really touched on. The missions got extremely boring, especially when you find out they have nothing to do with the main story, they're basically there for leveling up and Square-Enix said the game is a 100 hour game........well, the side quests are yes, but the main game isn't that long.

i didnt like the missions and kinda wish they were either trimmed down to just 50 or 100 missions or completely removed.

I found the part about the wagon really, really boring. I stopped playing the game some at that point. I know it's to push the storyline along, but it just slowed down the really fun parts like the beating the living hell outta the enemies.

I also felt the DMW should have had some way to control it. It was so random that it felt like you could beat some of the game through sheer luck, and while a bit of lucky stuff is fun, I'd rather have some control of how that luck plays out.

Otherwise, it's an amazingly fun game, to me.

Well they could have made Crisis Core much better by making it longer with extended parts. I mean they should have made other charcters playable besides Zack. Like lets say Tseng could have been a really cool playable character. More summons would have been good and if you can actually play as genesis during the fight of the 3 warriors. Aerith would have been a good playable character also she could have assisted Zack with more healing powers and if possible speels.

The missions were boring but at least some of them had a point(The war with Wutai,Genesis forces,Yuffie,ShinRa missions etc.).Others were extremely stupid and pointless(Item searching,Materia hunting etc.).

Making it more like a game and less like a movie would certainly help. And I agree about the DMW... they were cool to watch the first time, but there really should have been a skip option.

There was a skip option.... just press O for summons, and X for the memory cutscenes.

My main gripe: less missions - they were boring, nothing was ever new about them. They just reused the area, put in different monsters and rewards and that was it.

They wouldn't really need to add any storyline or anything, but with all the space the missions probably take up, it'd be nice if they added something more exciting in its place. Perhaps the Goldsaucer snowboarding/motorcycle minigames or something.

I think it could have been better if you were allowed to summon the gaurdian forces, ex ifrit like you do in final fantasy 8. The being able to run around was a new thing unlike most of the games

The missions could have been less repetitive and they could have cut the amount of missions in half. They shouldn't have made Zack go after Genesis after he escaped from Shinra manor and Genesis shouldn't have appeared at the Nibelheim incident.
