I have been reading the hobbit recently in anticipation of the film. I just finished Gollum's part, it is too short in my opinion. All of the character's in the series are very well written but he is one of the few characters that isn't one dimensional. The dwarves in the Hobbit are shit, they just get captured all of the time until Gandalf saves them, then call Bilbo useless
