1. Who did you use and what were there main purposes?

I used Vaan, Basch and Penelo.

Vaan was a dps with melee and was my backup healing when things got really rough. He was also my main buffer (reflect, haste, protect etc...)

Basch was also a dps with melee but also used damaging magic.

Penelo was nothing more than a healer.

2. How was the last boss experience for you?

When the bahamut part of the game came into play, my guys were level 49. I went into the bahamut and basically got utterly destroyed by the constant waves of guards. So afterwards, I thought that the bahamut was going to be the last part of the game (which it was) and that it was going to be huge and take forever to get to the last boss. So what I did was I went to the ruins of Nabudeis (however its spelled), leveled up my guys to 60. I found out later that all you really had to do was take the a short turn when in the bahamut to get towards the last boss. Anyway to finish this up, at level 60 I drove through Vayne like it was nothing.

3. I have a weapons question.

Now I know each weapon type has there own purposes. Such that melee (swords, axes, maces, ect) are for short hand combat. Also, that staffs are used for magic and bows are used for ranged and to take out air monsters (and i dont think the arrows can be parried)

But what are the point of guns and 2 handed swords? What i mean is, I had never seen a two handed weapon in a shop that wasn't weaker than a 1 handed weapon. Also, every gun I had seen was terrible when compared to a bow.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I seriously missing something?

You are seriously missing something. Bring out an Arcturus and a pouch of Dark Shot. Shoot Yiazmat. Now get out, say, Sagittarius, and Artemis Arrows. Fire at will.
Guns ignore the target's defense, and if you have shot equipped that hits the baddy's weakness, that's major ouch. Read "Arm Thyself" in Travelers' Tips for more. Now, I don't know all the formulas and all that crap, but I'll give it a shot.
Arcturus=44 Attack +Dark Shot (4 Attack)= 48 Attack.
Dark Shot gives Dark element to all attacks. Yiazmat is weak to Dark. Double Attack.
Arcturus+Dark Shot is now 96 Attack. Figure in Strength or whatever. Deal that damage to Yiazmat. (usually about 6000-7000). Use this for enemies with a thick hide or insane dodging skillz- Guns ignore defense, and they cannot miss (but I think that weather affects it).

2 handed swords? You are joking right?

Excalibur, attack power 128, holy element.
Ultima Blade, attack power 118, no element.
Masamune, attack 93, but has probably the best combo rate on the game (with the exception of the Wyrm Hero Blade possibly), combined with Genji Gloves you can hit for some serious damage.
Save the Queen, attack power 100
Ragnarok, attack power 109
Toursenol, attack power 140
Wyrm Hero Blade, attack power 130, Holy Element, high combo rate

Then, this isn't a sword but it's two-handed

Zodiac Spear, attack power 150, the highest attack power weapon in the game.

So considering the strongest one handed sword is the Durandal, which has an attack power of 99, two handed swords are alot better.

Arrows can be parried by the way. Guns ignore defence stats.

Used all 6. ^__^

2. How was the last boss experience for you?

Gabranth- Easy

Vayne- Easier

Vayne Novus- Relatively easy

Undying- Almost impossible. I had to level up from lv.40- lv.49 just to beat this inflammable piece of flying...well you get the idea. ^_^

Vaan, Bashc, and Balthier to jstu basically go in their run and gun and knock the shit outta opponents. I gave them all the most powerful swords/spears and such and set their gambits to heal when anyone fell below 40% health and arise when anyone is KO'd.

The girls in my party are cheerleaders on the sidelines.

Lol same here. I agree with moogles rule when it comes to using guns aganist him but I also do the haste, beserk, and bravery combo on one of my characters with a good heavy weapon. That combo is generally insane and for me it cut down my time killing the Hell worm to less that two hours.

There's no point in using guns against Yiazmat; they have no combo rate. The Yagyu Darkblade should prove better considering its combo rate and element. (Although it is difficult to obtain) Even better than that, is the Masamune paired with the following: Circlet, Brave Suit and Genji Gloves. Cast the following buffs on the user: Berserk, Faith, Haste and Protect and stay below 6.25% health. This almost ensures a 100% chance of hitting 12 times in one turn. (Only with the Masamune) And the weather affects only Bows and Crossbows. (Moreso the latter)

Now onto the characters. Surprisingly, Penelo is optimal for the above strategy; Katana and Magic in general in fact. Vaan has the best stats overall, and Ashe is second.

The Undying is difficult if you don't know what you're doing. The bosses prior to it don't have much to mention about. The final boss attacks around 1.5% faster than you, and its impossible to lower the damage. (Guns ignore defense) I've also noticed that he levels up with you: At the Lv 90 stage, he was dealing 5000 damage without Bravery. Bubble Belts are a necessity there.

1. Who did you use and what were there main purposes?

I used all of them :) Kind of. I constantly kept Vaan on, just so he could get tons of experience. Then I rotated the other 5 just to keep them even. So for example, as soon as, say, Basch hit level 25, I swapped him out and put in a level 24 character. Except for Vaan, so I could have one really powerful character :P

I also made the characters identical basically. I didnt really think about it, but I guess it stemmed from being able to replace someone who was dead/dying/diseased etc with someone else and not have to change my strategy.

I also just focused on swords :P I'm not good at strategy, just raw force.

Blah. I sensed it was near the end. Got into bahamut, had so many people die and thought, gah! Why is it so hard suddenly? I was prepared to go to bed, but just for fun decided to run far into Bahamut to see how long I could run without dying. Then I met the bosses and thought "Oh. Is that it for the final dungeon?" Seriously, do you ever NEED to fight in Bahamut before the bosses? :P

The bosses were too easy in my opinion :( I'm not a great strategic expert with Final Fantasy games, I just do what I do to get by. This normally means I die at least ONCE on the final boss of any game. But with FFXII, I didn't die once at all. That means it was probably too easy :( I feel sorry for the uber-Final Fantasy players who expected some sort of challenge.

3. I have a weapons question.

Er... I dont :D

1. Who did you use and what were there main purposes?

I used Vaan, Basch and Ashe.

Vaan was the main tank, I had him use Decoy mostly while doing and taking damage.

Basch was the main dps, when I could, I let him cast Berserk on himself to add more dps.

Ashe healed and threw a few Protects and Shells on the party and healed when needed.

2. How was the last boss experience for you?

It was quite simple but I actualy enjoyed the fights except for his annoying comments when he did a move. The last boss was a tough nut since I was underleveled at the time but I eventually beat him like all the other bosses before him.
:monster:

1. Who did you use and what were there main purposes?

I use all 6 characters. Vaan, Balthier and Fran. Then Basch, Ashe and Penelo.

Once Vaan, Balthier and Fran level up, I switch to the other three and vice versa.

Vaan and Balthier are tanks, Fran is a ranger/magick caster/healer.

Basch is mainly a strong damage dealer, Ashe is part tank, part magick caster. Penelo is a healer and katana type weapon bearer.

I mentioned this in my first post in my thread about two handed swords. Axes may look strong, but the damage they do is random, so I wouldn't rely on their attack power rating, they can hit for huge damage with one strike, then the next they hit for very low damage, very inconsistant weapons.

One handed swords/daggers can be good for the earlier stages of the game, but later on, two handed swords I find are alot better, not only are they more powerfull, they are just generally better weapons. Guns may have low attack power ratings compared to say, bows, but they ignore the foes' defense stats, so aren't as useless as they look, but I hardly use them anyways.

Vaan was my main tank, as in I buffed him up and he took all the hits. He was equipped with the Zodiac Spear.

Ashe was my healer/buffer. She had Save the Queen I think.

Basch was my main damage dealer, equipped with Masumune.

The final Boss's were far to easy for me, I was waaaayyy to over leveled because I used that auto-leveling trick with Negalmuur.
