Help with the Golden Chocobo

I have spent four hours trying to get this. I keep getting a Green Choc, but for some reason, I cannot get a Blue, I've tried a million times. I have a good, and great of both genders.

All the guides on the internet are horrible, everyone seems to contradict one another. So I figure through real time you guys can help me in more detail.

Blue Chocobo: Mate a Great Male Chocobo with a Good Female Chocobo.

Green Chocobo: Mate a Good Male Chocobo with a Great Female Chocobo.

Black Chocobo: Your Green and Blue Chocobos need to be of the opposite sex first. Then you must feed them Sylkis Greens until their stats stop increasing. Next you must keep racing your Chocobos until they are at least Class-A or better, Class-S.

Gold Chocobo: Feed your Black Chocoboo Sylkis greens until its stats stop growing, then race with it to at least Class-A. Capture a Wonderful Chocobo and do the same as above, except that it needs to be Class-S rather than A. Mate the two with a Zeio Nut, and you should get your long awaited Golden Chocobo.

There is a alternative and Easy way to get one. It would be beating Ruby Weapon, you instantly get one, tought without KoR it would be a tough fight. Unless you have a tought Party and Omnislash.

See I'm pretty sure I have a good female, and a great male, and for some reason it keeps giving me a green. Maybe I should just re-catch them. But I keep getting green.
 
Just perservere....it doesn't matter which is good or great, it can be male or female, just save - breed- reload until you get what you want. And it also helps to race them aswel.

Just pulled this from the guide, and it worked for me so...

To get a mountain (green) ir River (blue) you need to mate a great or a good chocobo using a carob nut. You can steal these from Vlakorados that roam the woods near Bone Village. You can also increas your chances of breeding a special chocobo if both the parents are S class racers...tbh though, the chances of getting great/good chocobos to S is slim at best, I normally get them to B or A if Im lucky and that normally does the trick

I think I had 4 chocobos anyway, I didnt want to wait the required time before breeding again, so it might help just to re catch the chocobos......seeing as you won't lose anything....actually,maybe because you got that colour in the fiorst place, you might just keep getting it....so yeah, just catch another pair of birds

Oh and do I really need to race them to get these? Some guides say it helps but is not required?

So even if I keep getting green with a pair, I just keep trying until I get a blue? Even if it takes like 50 tries? Because if so, I will do that, and stop running around re-catching new choc's

Not sure if you noticed my edit, but I think it might be best to get another pair of chocobos.....and try again. Just use the save/reload trick til you get there

So gender does not truly matter between the good and great?

If so thank you for all your help. No way could I defeat the ruby weapon, I'm trying to get KOTR so I can beat him lol.
 
If gender DOES matter then I've been extremely lucky so far ^^
 
Thank you again. I'm just going to get two new ones, and breed again and again and again and again, until I get the blue. Hopefully I stop getting green, because I can get green, all the time, with this one couple of chocs, and its getting me mad, cuz I can get them so easy.

:wacky: Everything was explained in the above post, i just mentioned the alternative "EASY" way. :D lol
Well pretty much everything is explained already.

You can find Zeio nuts in the small islands near the Sage's house, by stealing Goblins those are needed for breeding a Gold Chocobo :P
 
how many of the s. greens should i feed the green and blue to get them up to class b, or a? Then how many should I feed the black and wonderful to get them up to class s?
 
Keep feeding them until you notice no change in the stats, my memory is abit fuzzzy on that, but it might tell you it cant increase any further, if not just check to see if the stats stop rising

But to actually raise the class, once you have finished feeding them up, you will need to go race them
 
Thank you all for your help, all of you have been kind. I keep getting yellow instead of green, but I guess I will just keep resetting until I get that stupid blue lol.
 
If I still can 't get a blue choco with the great male and good female, should I up them in class, feed them a bunch of greens and race em? Will that help chances?
 
Well, I was playing FFVII again recently (in German) and bred most of the chocobos with Cid. But when I went to breed the blue one, I kept getting a normal chocobo until I fed one of them some Tantal greens, and then it gave me a blue one...I don't know how that works. I doubt it has anything to do with the fact that I gave him Tantal greens specifically, but it could be a bit of the luck stat (having luck plus might help) or the fact that the chocobo's stats went up. I think maybe it's supposed to be harder to breed chocobos with Cid because you can't go to the Gold Saucer with him and race the chocobos, so all my chocobos were at rank C until Cloud came back. Then when he came back, I got the black and the gold ones no problem.

It's strange. Most of my normal chocobos are around rank A by the time I breed them, and I don't really have a problem getting either the green or the blue chocobos--I don't even have to catch new ones either; the same ones still work.
 
So your saying I should get them both up to class S, and maybe i will have better luck.
 
Maybe. But I've never gotten them to class S before, so I doubt that helps. A is good enough, and a good or great chocobo won't even have good enough stats to get to S rank--unless you're really good.

But getting your special chocobo to S class wouldn't be a problem; they're usually faster and better than the normal chocobos, and you'd need to kill some time before breeding them again anyways.
 
Okay I will get them to A, I've maxed out the good female and great male on stats, so I will hopefully get them to A. Then breed, and hope to get a blue. Because for some reason I can get Green like no problem. Not blue though.
