Hi I started playing ff9 on my ps2 and I'm liking the game. However, when I fight Ark in Oeilvert in disc 3, the game locks up when he uses the attack "boomerang". My disc was just rebuffed and my ps2 has never had any problems and a similar problem would occur when I fought the Epitaphs in Oeilvert and they used "mirror". Is there something i'm missing or am I shit outta luck?

Since the disc was messed with, try playing it on the PS1, if you have it. If that doesn't work, I don't know.

I can't say I've ever had that issue before. It may just be a problem with the disk. :hmmm:

I've had this issue on my PS1. What I did was just open the top and close it again. It would think for a second and then get past it. But if you're playing on the PS2 then I think the system resets when you hit the Eject button. I would just use a PS1. If it still doesn't work, then hack a PSP 1000 series, download IX and just play it on there.

Defintely sounds like a scratch has damaged the data for one of the animations. The PS2 does have some strange glitches for PS1 games though, so you should definitely try it out on a PS1. If not, you should download the game from PSN or an emulator and the iso. Or buy the game again. Either way.

when you start up your PS2, press triangle on Browser. Go down to PlayStation Driver and press triangle again. Set Disc Speed to Fast and Texture Mapping to Smooth.

I can't guarantee that it will help, but it's done wonders for my copy of FFVIII I've had for 5 years, plus whoever else had it for the other 8 years.

Yeah trying it on your PS1 is probably the best idea or changing the Disc Speed and Texture Mapping on the PS2 Browser like L said as it does make a difference but I am not sure it would get you by that part, I have noticed that the PS1 games play far better on the PS1 rather than the PS2 but if you have a PS3 try it on it as well as all my PS1 games are running far better on my PS3 and I have had no problems even on games that wouldn't load for the PS1 or PS2
