Hey, I just wanted to throw my experience out there to anyone that has slight interest in the game.

Since the patch at the beginning of February, it seems like the entire world has changed for the better. SP gains became significant, no longer does it take a week to gain a rank. Progression actually feels rewarding, and not a complete grind.

The zergfesting is also beginning to disappear. Recently they put a limit to SP bonuses when grouping to a maximum of members. Essentially creating the 8-man Guildleve SP party as the main form of leveling. It was a welcome change, people have started forming groups according to their appropriate ranks. Doing so yields great SP. To me it's also a set up for more strategic battles.

Side-questing is being introduced tomorrow, which should bring back some of that FF XI goodness mixed in with modern MMO quest tracking. The AH functionality is basically now in the game due to being able to see price listings and being able to search the market wards for the items you want. A final mouse target option is also slotted in for the next patch, which looks like it will solve the last of the target issues.

Class Specific Armours have been announced as well, and are being rendered in the spirit of older FF designs, yet still look like they fit in Eorzea.

All in all, I am a member of a fantastic group of people in my linkshell. Any flaws that are in the game are bearable because we hang out and have a good time. Don't believe all the negativity, because XIV can be quite fun to play.

That's good to hear something good about the game, there's not an FF I don't have but I was disappointed to here it would cost... I mean XBox has their subscription fees but they involve every game, and then, similiar to xBox, the PS3 you have to buy updates... but the rest of the online gaming is free, this is like the first game to have monthly fees on PS3 :(
But it's nice to know, should we choose to get it, it'll be worth it, thanks for posting this, has convinced me to get the game :)

Actually DC universe you have to pay monthly also fwi, and I think more MMORPGS will do the same for the consuls.
Anyways back on topic.

I'm actually happy to hear this, I kinda wanted to get it, but I tried it at a friends house when it first came out and it was terrible. Glad to hear that Square is trying to fix a lot of stuff, but sadly I think it will be too little too late when the other MMORPG's that are coming out soon hit stores...

Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is just that. The game was released early, and because of that they have to work twice as hard to keep who they have playing, plus somehow swing people back to try the game out again. At the very least, I have not paid a dime for the game since release.

I can say however that since the new director took over, things have been on the up. We've been everything that has been promised, the player polls are shaping the game and it's evident. The last 2 months have actually seen players return to the game, which tells me they are doing something right.

Im still waiting for the PS3 version though...lol I could wait ages for when that time comes........I dont think I can afford the time and money for this game when it comes on ps3..I still want to play it ..sigh..

Hurray we'll be back online by the weekend it seems! I've missed my linkshell quite a bit, though we've all been keeping touch on our site and voicechat.
