Hey, I just wanted to throw my experience out there to anyone that has slight interest in the game.
Since the patch at the beginning of February, it seems like the entire world has changed for the better. SP gains became significant, no longer does it take a week to gain a rank. Progression actually feels rewarding, and not a complete grind.
The zergfesting is also beginning to disappear. Recently they put a limit to SP bonuses when grouping to a maximum of members. Essentially creating the 8-man Guildleve SP party as the main form of leveling. It was a welcome change, people have started forming groups according to their appropriate ranks. Doing so yields great SP. To me it's also a set up for more strategic battles.
Side-questing is being introduced tomorrow, which should bring back some of that FF XI goodness mixed in with modern MMO quest tracking. The AH functionality is basically now in the game due to being able to see price listings and being able to search the market wards for the items you want. A final mouse target option is also slotted in for the next patch, which looks like it will solve the last of the target issues.
Class Specific Armours have been announced as well, and are being rendered in the spirit of older FF designs, yet still look like they fit in Eorzea.
All in all, I am a member of a fantastic group of people in my linkshell. Any flaws that are in the game are bearable because we hang out and have a good time. Don't believe all the negativity, because XIV can be quite fun to play.
