Right now in Southern Cal. it's about 4.50 a gallon. I'm forced to take an hour train ride + 30 minute bus/trolley ride to get to my final destination in downtown San Diego because I can' afford to drive all the way down there. :gasp:

Anyone else starting to make the transition to public transportation?

Nope, I'm still driving around and my car eats gas. I could take a train to work or school but it's a long walk. I usually fill up my car when it's half empty, so I try not to think about how much I'm spending now. =(

It's 4.50 here as well.

I can't say I hate them since I don't drive but I have noticed the prices are very high at the moment. I think a gallon is about 4.5 litres or something over here so for a gallon over here it works out to about £5.35 or $10.70...I think. :wacky:

I'll happily walk or get the train most places though.

I'ts gone over a pound a litre now, it's getting rather ridiculous, I don't drive either but it's bloody ridiculous just getting the bus these days (don't get me started on taxi's either) It's pushing the prices of food up aswel because petrol prices are so high

So yeah, I don't drive but it pecks my head something rotten because it's like some nasty little chain reaction of doom :gasp:

Ha! I still only get a half on the bus because I say I'm 15. :wacky:
I have been told several times that I blatantly look older than 15/16 though. xD

The bus prices go up every time I get on one though. -__-
...and taxis, well, they don't even bother telling you the prices have gone up, they've gone up like 50/60p in the past couple of weeks which is shit...although a positive side to that is that I've started jogging to 5 a side now because I refuse to pay £3.40 (about $6.80) just for a 5/10min drive.

It's called cost push inflation. There is also demand pull inflation:gasp:

As for petrol it's over $2 a litre. But our public transport is so shit that you have to drive everywhere.

My car is pretty good with gas, so I've just been driving it like I normally have.

The public transportation where I live is pretty awful, if not nonexistent. I'm taking a 6-hour road-trip to Tampa, and I'm still going to drive there, just because the train system is too expensive and slow in my state.

The only real change I've made with gas, is I try to carpool more often. When I go to conventions or visit friends who live many towns over, I try and get other friends to join me, to pitch in for gas. As for the price by me, it's $4.19.

It's about $4.09 in Maine. I don't own a car, so that part is okay... but when I get rides and pay for my friend/family's gas, it's still gets expensive, and the people I go with don't like using their car 'cause they know they have to deal with gas prices being like they are. I think public transportation, walking/biking, and/or carpooling are prime ways to go. I have a bike, I use my feet to get from A to B as well, and carpool.

Suggestion to those where this can apply:
Find a great local job, get rid of your car (or make it run gas-free), buy a great bike, and live the life without paying for a car, insurance, repairs, or gas... go green, get green... get it? Haha...

I'm actually quite glad I'll be losing my license so I don't have to bother with constantly rising fuel prices. I remember reading a while back when the price broke the £1/litre barrier that by about September it was estimated to be up to about £1.50. =/
But unfortunately, there's no way of avoiding it. As we use more fuel, the price is obviously only going to go up and up until it become pretty much a luxury.

Luckily, there's no need for me to pay for petrol. As I said, I'm losing my license in November, but everywhere I need to go is in within reasonable walking distance.

$4.50 a gallon? Yikes. It's about $4.00 a gallon over here.

I've gotten to the point where I just jog or ride my bike if I need to get somewhere (in town). Some people don't have the luxury of being several miles from town, though.

When I go to school, I suck it up and drive. No choice...seeing as it's a good 30 miles away.

My school's 50 plus miles away but the transportation system down here is pretty good so I can just catch the train and transfer over to a bus that takes me down there. It's $168 a month for a regional monthly pass and that pretty much saves me about $140.

Wow, 4.50 a gallon? That's crazy :gasp:

Where I live, gas is going for about 3.80 a gallon right now. It's as affordable as it's going to get I guess, so I'm still driving. I've cut back on how often I go out with friends and stuff though, and I try to carpool with someone whenever I get the chance.

lol, that's hilarious.

Even with gas prices (kind of) going down, it's 99% likely it's gonna climb back up again. Now it's like $4.00 a gallon, but I'm still not driving. I'd rather save $3000 a year by taking the train, but that just means I have to wake up at 5:00 am and get home at 8:30 pm. xD Effing 3 hour commute.

my insurance company is fucking me over right now with a $830 every 6 months cost so im being analy raped. Then adding about 3.65 to 4.25 gas change constantly its getting pretty annoying especially since i have to drive 20 miles to school for one class. I think we should blame george w bush since he is a cock sucking ass hole that is making the prices rise at least hes my scape goat anyway.

We're pretty lucky here in Boregon that the gas prices are/have been dropping. Although I don't drive that much, it's still painful to have to see 50+ dollars to fill up my little Honda Accord. >_> Iz onleh 16-ish gallon tank!

23 cents for gas?

Right now, gas prices are about 3.61/3.73 around where I live. Needs to be the $1.46 before Bush Jr. took office. :wacky:

A short while back, I asked my grandfather what gas prices were when he was my age, and he said that the first time he filled up his tank, it was 23 cents. :gasp:

How old is this Accord?! xD

My Chevy Camaro gets way more gas mileage per gallon! And that's a gas-guzzler too.
