For all those who need a grammar check-up, and some good old grammar, spelling, and punctuation therapy. :neomon:

There will be no nasty grammar bigotry here, just friendly corrections, scoldings, and lectures on how you're doing it wrong!!!! :wacky:

Excuse me, I'm in a weird mood.

I am somewhat dubious as to how successful this thread is going to be. Let us not forget that correcting the grammar of anyone at all is seen to be the epitome of rudeness. Seeing as I am taking English Literature and Language at AS level, it would be rather concerning if I needed grammar lessons.

However, it's a better idea than when I get weird moods. So 'nice going' in that respect.

P.S. Scoldings are not going to get this thread popularity.

Alright then, just so everyone knows. It is grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with the word 'but'.

The whole purpose of this thread is so that people can come to be cured of their grammatical ailments. Doctors scold people for doing naughty, naughty things such as smoking and binge drinking, you know. :wacky:
Let me guess, someone's going to label me as a hypocrite before the end of the day. <_<

(Obviously.) Make sure you know the meanings of all the words you write, whilst certain words may sound impressive, if they do not make sense in the sentence, you will be left looking daft .

On top of this, the meanings of words can change with the spelling (e.g. 'Two', 'to' and 'too')
Do not get confused.

Yes.

Two can only mean the number "2".
I.e. two, twice.
To may indicate a certain direction (e.g. This road leads to Zanarkand.); or that someone or something will perform a certain action (e.g. I'm going to kill you, I swear!). Make sure you use the correct tense.
Too is used either to include someone or something (e.g. I'm coming, too!); or to denote that something is insufficient, unsuitable, insatisfactory, whatever. (e.g. The hapless peasants were too weak to fight back.)

However you can use 'same-spelled' words to different effects.

An example of this would be the word minute: "Please could you wait for just a minute." / The pet mouse was abnormally minute.
