Anything I need to change? More levelling? Better equipment? And any tips and info I should know before venturing into Giruvegan?

You're waaaaay over leveled. I was in the 30s at this stage. I don't understand where your problem lies - You have bubble belt at this point.... The only thing I can think of is give Basch the Diamond Sword. The strength of the ammo won't have a drastic effect on your actual damage, but if you want, you can complete the Barheim Key quest to obtain some Wyrmfire Shot.

Could you post your gambit setup please? That ought to give me some information on your battle style. Just incase, I'll tell you that 'Party Leaders Target - Attack' is much better than 'Nearest Foe - Attack'; you have more control over you party characters.

If you're still somehow finding it difficult, you could take a visit to the Necrohol Of Nabudis and buy the Maximillian and Magepower Shishak armour. If you didn't open the forbidden chests, you can pick up the Zodiac Spear whilst you're there. The rare game; which is lured out by defeating a number of Oversouls(can't think of the exact number) can potentially drop the Grand Armour.

Im doing quite well actually. Ive just defeated Tyrant.

Heres my gambit setup:

Vaan:

1- Foe: nearest visible - Attack
2- Ally: any - Esuna
3- Ally: any - Raise
4- Ally: HP < 40% - Curaga
5- Self: MP < 20% - Charge

Balthier:

1- Foe: Party leaders target - Attack
2- Ally: any - Raise
3- Ally: HP < 30% - Curaga
4- Ally: any - Esuna
5- Self: MP < 20% - Charge

Basch:

1- Foe: Party leaders target - Attack
2- Ally: any - Raise
3- Ally: any - Phoenix Down
4- Self: MP < 20% - Charge
5- Ally: any - Esuna
6- Ally: HP < 10% - Curaja

Any good? :P And have I nearly finished Giruvegan having just beaten Tyrant? Thanks for the info too. Im gonna go and try get the grand armour and complete the Barheim Key quest too.

Your equipment and Gambits seem fine, though I don't understand why you gave Basch the Phoenix Down if you all have Raise in their Gambits.

Your healing set-up is good, and considering your level and general armour... you shouldn't encounter too many hairy situations in Giruvegan or the Crystal. Furthermore, no, you're not close to finishing. The area you're about to enter is almost labyrinthian if you don't know what you're doing, and the monsters can potentially pack quite a punch if they're in groups. Simply maintain Protect and Shell for an easier time.

Bear in mind that Giruvegan isn't an easy location to go through, so I wouldn't expect my chances of success or loss to change much. If you haven't already, go back and take on some new Hunts for special equipment.

Ok, set those Gambits according to the following...although I recommend having no gambits for Vaan; that way, you have complete control over his actions. Regardless, I'll adjust his Gambits.

Vaan:

1- Ally: any - Raise
2- Ally: HP < 40% - Curaga
3- Ally: any - Esuna
4- Self: MP < 20% - Charge
5- Foe: nearest visible - Attack

Balthier:

1- Ally: any - Raise
2- Ally: HP < 30% - Curaga
3- Ally: any - Esuna
4- Self: MP < 20% - Charge
5- Foe: Party leaders target - Attack

Basch:

1- Ally: any - Raise
2- Ally: any - Phoenix Down
3- Ally: HP < 10% - Curaja
4- Ally: any - Esuna
5- Self: MP < 20% - Charge
6- Foe: Party leaders target - Attack

I adjusted the order of your Gambits. Never place attack first - if you're in need of healing, your characters won't heal you instantaneously. As for the Foe: Nearest Visible, I don't recommend that; what if the nearest visible was some shitty bunny rabbit, and some uber deluxe dragon trudges towards you? You'll still attack the bunny wouldn't you?

You don't have to change it..just keep in mind that all battles will be easier if you abide by the altered ones.

Thanks for pointing out about the phoenix down gambit Lurid. :P Im in the crystal thingy place and I dont know what the fuck im suppose to do. Can someone help? I seem to be going round in circles. Im finding the monsters really easy btw. Thanks for the Gambit help too Gabranth. Im altering them now.

I can't remember, but can you get faith and bravery yet?
You don't really need them, but if you are having trouble, they would help.
If you can't get them, then just cast negative status spells on the monsters; blind, poison etc.
Edit: Like Lurid said, the crystal is just a big fucking maze, just keep going to the waystones that are descending.
Lets say you start at 6, go down the paths until you find waystone 5, and just repeat that.

There's no map for this area, however, you're supposed to turn on certain switches to activate pedestals; this allows you into the next area.

The above link is a map of the Great Crystal. It may look confusing but don't worry; you don't have access to all areas of your first visit. If you follow the pedestals you should end up in the bottom circle. So keep heading south.

Thanks for the map Gabranth. Im sure thatll help me lots. Right now, Im in Bhrum Pis Pratii XD And yes, I do have faith and bravery. :D So after this maze, I fight Shemhazai? Is there a save crystal before the battle? XD

For further information regarding defensive equipment, I'd suggest following this link:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/459841/47397

It provides a comprehensive armour/helm list, and indicates at what point you'll be able to access that specific piece of equipment. As for The Great Crystal, you may find this useful:

Edit: beaten. :gasp:

There is a save crystal shortly before said battle; you needn't worry about this. She's not too challenging either - just whack her with physical attacks and she'll soon fall. Might want to protect against Silence/Blind though, or simply keep up Shell to reduce the chance of the effects occurring.

Thanks again. :P The only problem im having now are Oses using Hell Blaster. They keep ganging up on me! Any treasure in the great crystal that I should look out for?

As far as I can remember, yes, there is a save crystal before the battle with Shemhazai. But believe me, its much easier than Hydro - the Espers health will deteriorate in no time.

For the map I gave you, you can see that the Excalibur is located in the Great Crystal. Its rather deep in, but its worth the effort. After completing the The Pharos, you'll gain access to nearly all areas. I recommend venturing through the newly accessible areas and looting the items. Some chests require you to equip a Diamond Armlet to obtain the best it has to offer. I might add that Cerobi Steppe contains some of the best chests this game has. However, the items all have a 5% chance of appearing.

Ive found the save crystal. I shall battle Shemhazai soon. Where can I get the Diamond Armlet btw? Ive heard soo much bout it but I dunno where I can get it.

The Unlucky Merchant in the Estersand (SB Village) sells them later on in the game (not sure if they are available after Great Crystal or not)

I liked Giruvagen, for one reason only, travelling across the Feywood, Giruvagen & Great Crystal, there are no shops or merchants about atall, so by time you've finished in the GC, you have ample amount of loot to sell, meaning plenty of gil for your troubles. :D
