Are all the Gilgameshes the same one?

Gilgamesh has the possibility of being the same one unlike other same name characters because we know he can travel dimensions.

I don't think they're ALL the same one.. Afterall, FFXII Gilgamesh has a fake Zantetsuken and we know he got the real one in FFVIII.
I think FFV, FFVIII's and FFIX's are the same Gilgamesh. After all, we get the note explaining where Gilgamesh got the Excalipoor in FFIX.

Thoughts?

I don't think they are literally the same one but just a reference to each other, or maybe a parallel versions or some shiz.

I beleive

I believe that Gigamesh is a recurring character, not quite nessarily the same person but like Cid or the Moogles.

HOWEVER, when you get too FFXII and face the mark Hunt Gilgamesh, he has replica swords from the different characters in the past FF games which he says he has been traveling around collecting...

Just a bit of info to bite at... ;)

I thought the replica swords thing was just a reference to FF5 where he had the Excalibur knock-off sword that had a one-letter difference in the name when you got it or something like that.

Yeah, that was the Excali-poor then for the shitty attack.

I'm not sure how much of a resemblence FFV's and FFXII's Gilgamesh's have, but he's always been that kind of '1-hit' kill opponent/summon/etc...

I recall back to FFV when he was the first re-occuring mini-boss and sure he could throw in a packed punched every now and then, but he was more of Ex-Death's bitch than anything else. Plus he was comic-relief at the end when he would cry after getting dissed or defeated. I didn't see that kind of "pussy-attitude" in other versions of Gilgamesh in the series.

Gilgamesh may have served as a comic relief character for most of the game but I seem to recall him having a badass moment at the end of the game. My memories a bit too fuzzy to recall exactly what he did, but I do seem to recall
that you had killed him and he had come back from the dead somehow. Then he was free of exdeath's control or something along those lines and sacrificed himself to beat some boss that was whipping your parties ass.

Yeah, I think you're right there. Sort of like he recognized that Ex-Death was corrupt and treating him along with the rest of the crew like shit. What he does at the end of the game sort of reminds me of
Galuf's sacrifice mid-way through the game
.

Why don't I remember Gilgamesh being in IX? D'=

However, from the other titles ... he's not the same character but I imagine he plays the same role, much like Shiva, Ifrit, the Moogles, Cid, Biggs and Wedge and such like.

gilgamesh is di same person he said it hiself he travel di world for weapons dat means he lives for very long time. He was a summon summons last a long ass time. He had multiple weapons of main characters weapons da two dat i saw mainly was buster sword and brotherhood. Off of ff12. and i think all summons can travel dimensions somehow to. dere summoned by many diffrent people so you can't just say dat Bahamut is different from dat one cause its di same.

Well, when you get the Exalibur II, you read a note on how someone left the Excalibur II because they thought it was junk and gave Gilgamesh the Excalipur.

I say the FFXII Gilgamesh is a different one. He has fakes. Gilgamesh in FFVIII has the real versions of his swords (Exalibur, Excalipoor, Massamune and Zantetsuken)

He doesn't have fakes. I've recognised the Buster Sword, the Brotherhood, the Tournesol, the Murasame/Masamune (I could never remember which is which) and I daresay the rest of his swords bare some significance in previous games. They're not fake, they're just different to previous games, which is entirely acceptable in a new game. ;D

That's what makes me think he's the same guy throughout the games, travelling all his dimentions and whatnot.

So yeah, I think it's the same dude

Then why does he have a different Zantetsuken?
I think it's the same Gilgamesh in FFV, 8 and 9, but different in XII. Though that's just me. Doesn't it say somewhere that Gilgamesh's swords aren't proven to be the real deal?

EDIT:
Bestiary Entry

Genus: Elite Mark
Classification: ???
"An ancient Man of Mystery, traveling the Dimensions with his lone Companion, Enkidu, in search of a legendary Sword. It is said he confronts all Adventurers he meets and challenges them for their Weapons. Each of his six Arms bears a Weapon of great Fame, yet there is no Evidence that any are the genuine Article Petitioned as a Mark by a Swordsman bereft of his beloved Blade."

The Japanese writing on the side of his Buster Sword in XII roughly translates as 'Replica' or 'Fake'.

Umm he is same Gilgamesh. He is same goofball in V as he is in XII. Gilgamesh is always same, he just travelling through different dimensions. Why he looks different in games is a mystery, maybe dimensions make him to fit with his appearance and as VI Advance suggests Gilgamesh is an Esper.

I love Gilgamesh, not only he is cool and has his own uber them he is also funny. I think he and Enkidu deserve their own game.

I don't see how the Gilgamesh from FFIX can be linked to any other Gilgamesh unless he's a toned-down, less hostile Gilgamesh.

In the previous games he was either the second-in-charge bad guy to Ex-Death or the summon who came in with one swipe and obliterated the enemy. In FFIX, he's jsut a treasure hunter...

I think that Gilgamesh represents somehow each of the games that has passed. With each new FF game, he seems to being wielding a significant sword from a previous game. Also his role is slightly similar in each FF game, making him have attacks that are instant kills.
