Game Over?! Oh Wait...

It took me a while to get used to. I remember when facing The Twins, I died and was like OHH MY GOODDD I HAVE TO DO THAT ALL AGAIN!? Then to my suprise, "Retry" appeared and it put me just before the battle.

What I'm really have trouble adjusting to is the healing after battles... after a hard battle, I'm like, "Ugh, gotta heal up..." then to realise it's already been done... :awesome:

I just started playing this tonight and got up to the part where they're about to try and fight the Falcie or something. I dunno wasn't really paying attention because I started to dose off. *sleepy*

But yeah I died and then was immediately asked to retry or quit and so I hit 'retry' thinking I'd have to go back to my last save point but no! I was back to where I left off pretty much.

Nice surprise that was. Gets frustrating when you have to start all over again from where you last saved at.

It is very useful because in battle with a boss, you can leave it and enter the Main Menu and update your Crystarium. It's very good, and very handy.

I ain't complaining.

Having to have Hope as Lead sucks ass, everything circle jerks on him 'cuz of his low hp. >_>

I figure it's the least they could do if they're going to do something as annoying as make you walk around as the jailbait character, with his fail and gimpy amount of hp. :monster:

I think it makes it too easy. There are already a mess of save points, so I don't think retry was needed. Then again, I'm only 3 hours in.

It makes things far less frustrating. It was a good design choice because they knew that this game was a difficult one. The game can be pretty punishing towards players and thus having to go back to your last save point would have been very annoying. This way they can make every battle punishing, but take away part of the frustration by making the player start exactly where he/she fell.

to be honest,
i quite like the added and improved feature, it speeds up gameplay and avoids un-needed repitition.

It's good that they have that feature, considering that you get a game over if your leader dies. I can't say I understand why a game over happens if the leader dies when the rest of the party is still living, I think that's a really bad idea. It just frusterates me to no end at times. And being the hardcore FFer that I am, I never choose the retry option either, even though I should have a few times.

I didn't know about the retry option because i didn't get my first game over till chapter 10 coughheckatoncough, anyway its a nice option to have i think.

I liked how every so often there was a save point because i never knew what was going to happen next once i past one so i saved each time i ran into one.

I never knew this at first, and keeping with my Final Fantasy traditions, I saved. Every. Time. But now that I know it isn't the end, I'm pretty happy and loosened up with the saving.

If i remember, this thing was also on lost oddysey,or magnacarta 2,i dont exactly remember but it was a pretty recent rpg game.anyways for this game to have this is decent,it prevents you from crying out loud when you forgot to save, they should do this for all rpgs.plus, the enemies and bosses in final fantasy XIII are pretty hard to beat or at least, could be hard to beat.
