First of all, I looked on the directory and found only a Beatrix Fanclub (which is nice and all). if there is another FFIX club already, feel free to delete this topic (and please let me know where that other club is so I can join :D). If anyone is willing to make a club image, it'll be appreciated. If not, a standard image will be posted here on the first post.
Final Fantasy IX
In this club, honor all your favorite characters of the ninth installment of the Final Fantasy series. Here are the do's and donts:

Dos:
  • Honor all of your favorite characters with praise, not flame.
  • Compliments about a specific feature are welcome (i.e. Zidane's tail or Garnet's hair).
  • Feel free to post a favorite moment about a certain character, or the game in general.
And anything else that is fine and dandy with the fans themselves. However, here are the....

Don'ts
  • Do not spam.
  • Do not make small posts. Put every effort into every post, or it'll be counted as spam.
  • No flaming other members.
  • No trolling
  • Do not make angry or hateful remarks about other characters. Yes, many of you hate the thong on Kuja, but no one needs to hear it.
  • Provoke other members into arguing. It'll be counted as flaming.
And also note that all forum rules still apply here. If one of you decides to disobey the rules, you'll be warned just once. It you break a major rule (like the flaming one) I'll notify an Admin immediately.

Alright, so that does it. Let's get started with the signups! Once you see your name on the list, don't forget to add this club to the list on your profile! (UserCP>Edit Profile>Clubs)

To Admins: I didn't know if it was okay to just start a club like this. If I had to notify you first, you have my apologies.

you meet the requirements. :wacky:

I'll join! I'm currently playing FFIX for the first time and I'm totally addicted to it already! x3

The characters are engaging and there's not one I don't like so far. (I'm in Gizawhatsits Grotto xD) I'm not very far but still.

=3

I LOVE ZIDANE'S TAIL! AMG :woo:

I'm totally down. :mokken:

FFIX is my favorite Final Fantasy game and it my honest opinion, is the best. I love the world the game takes place in, the culture of the people that live on it, and the abundance of races that the game brought back.

The story was down right genius, and Kuja is one of the greatest villains imaginable. Zidane is the true definition of what a Hero should be, Garnet is a strong female lead, and Vivi is one of the best character that SquareEnix has EVER CREATED.

With one of the hardest optional bosses around, great mini games, a fun card game, and loads of side-quests, FFIX easily gets my vote as the greatest Final Fantasy HANDS DOWN. :mokken:

The game had a wonderful cast of characters. Even the minor characters had a rich and developed background. And if you don't like the thong on Kuja... Well frak you. His ensemble was a tribute to his own self-centered ness.

Not only that, this game had something that most other Final Fantasy's had few of, and then completely lost after FFX: PLOT TWISTS!

Damn fraking right. This game had so many plot twists that it would have made M. Night Shamalamalon cream his pants.

Then at the end of the game you had Necron, which a lot of people give the game hell for because he had no business being there. SCREW THAT! Any final boss that quotes Yoda is FINE BY ME! :mokken:

Then the ending... Fraking priceless. I won't spoil it, but the ending left you feeling good, and it totally awarded you for a job well done. I loved that the class system was back, and I actually enjoyed the Trance system, even if it was broken.

Trance was defined in game as an uncontrollable state that someone enters in a time of need or when a loved one was in danger. Not being able to control when you go in it was understandable. Then Trance with Zidane... HOLY SHIT. Talk about awesome looking ass moves galore. Grand Lethal anyone?

The summons were awesome. Leviathan and Buhamut NEVER looked better. I still prefer the way Buhamut looks on FFIX than any other FF to date. Not only that, Odin looks fraking great as well.

I'll edit more later. I'm tired, and I could talk about the flawless gem all fraking day. :mokken:

EDIT: Oh, and SUPER MAD REP for Leon. I would rep you twice if I could. This club should have existed a long time ago AND HOW DARE EVERYONE ELSE for not coming up with it. Leon, you're fraking awesome in my book. :yay:

I know I'm not part of the FFIX name change theme right now - but that doesn't stop FFIX being one of my personal favourite Final Fantasy games. Well let's see - where do I start? :hmmm:

I am currently playing FFIX the third time. I should be nearly at the end soon. Currently I am at Terra bumping into the Genome nobody remembers - Mikoto. Anyway, there are a lot of aspects that I love about the game. Firstly, I love Gaia. The world is just an interesting place to be. I admit, I wasn't hot in the idea of having Mist all over the world map at first - but I came to realise the significance of it and I appreciated its presence. It added something sinister to the world map.

The townsfolks really made me laugh at times. A coexistence of humans and anthropomorphic animals was a breath of fresh air. It's just too bad we haven't see that since. Places such as Treno and Lindblum are fascinating places to be in - full of interesting detail and features. I love the characters as well. Steiner cracked me up. I chanted "Awww" out loud for Vivi many times. Zidane's antics at times are really amusing - and he is one of my favourite protagonists. I love Beatrix as well. She is a great supporting character.

Most importantly - it has Moogles! A great abundance of Moogles! I was so overjoyed when I first played through to see Moogles so commonly around. :jess:

EDIT: Did I just type all that for a non-post count section? Oh well - it will be worth it. :mokken:

The first FF game I played, and the reason I got into the series. I was hooked almost from the start. And it's still one of my favourite FF games. Love the characters (especially Vivi and Quina), love the storyline, love the music (Melodies if Life! You Are Not Alone!), IT'S GREAT!

Er....yeah, I think I'll join XD

Thanks for joining, guys! Here are my thoughts.

It was the first FF game I ever played (I just wish I had it; I had only borrowed it from an older cousin). I was only about 12 years old. I can remember how old I was because it was New Year's Eve when I fought that machine that chased you as you were about to enter Fossil Roo. Man, I never forget that.

Since the day I gave back that game (I never finished it :( ) I wanted to play it again. Since I could not find copies of it in any store, I settled for FFX. Then I got FF Origins, which had remade versions of I and II. If I hadn't played FFIX, there's a chance I would have ignored those last three. I'm glad I did play them.

As for the game itself, I liked EVERYTHING. I was just a prepubescent sixth grader back then, but I just loved the game. I actually had a crush on Garnet back then. At first glance, Zidane looked like a girl, but I really liked his personality. Words can't describe what I felt for Vivi. Steiner made me chuckle. When I first used Freya's Jump skill, I was FASCINATED! It looked so awesome to me back then. Quina was strange, and I never got a chance to appreciate his/her Eat ability. Never had the chance to see more cutscenes for Amarant, but he was okay. Finally, right now, I still think Eiko's adorable! She's my second favorite female character, right up there with Garnet.

I loved the battle system, which introduced me to the FF series. The soundtracks were perfect (Eiko's Theme FTW!). Trance couldn't be controlled, but it was awesome to see. Tantalus scenes where amusing. The ATE feature was well put, though I think it was the only time it appeared in a Final Fantasy game.

The summons are awesome! Maybe the Ifrit in that game is not as awesome as he was in VIII, but Bahamut's Mega Flare was guaranteed to wipe out a weak enemy party. My favorites are Bahamut, Ark, Madeen, and Phoenix, though Fenrir comes very close.

Finally, the plot. I loved the entire plot. The ending was satisfying and does not leave room for sequels, though I sure would love a multi-platform remake (I only own a PS2 :( ). People who played the sci-fi installments like VII and VIII never really appreciate this game. I'm very glad it was my first game. This one went back to its original roots, which really gave me a great impression on the whole series. I sure wish no one would hate it simply because of the graphics, certain characters' lack of development, Necron's randomness, heck, even Kuja's thong.

All in all, it may be my favorite game of all time. It's right up there with KHII, Mega Man X, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, and Super Mario Bros. 3

P.S. Dagger, you may be referring to Gizamaluke's Grotto. It was a major block for me on my first playthrough. I was so underleveled and still had a plain dagger equipped for Zidane, so I simply restarted the whole thing. I had so much to learn back then.

Let. Me. In!!!! please?

FFIX is one of my favorite games, and it was the first one I actually played. The music was great and the characters were awesome. The graphics were actually pretty good (for a PSX game).

The summons were cool also. It sucks that you can't use them early in the game, but they are still cool. The sidequests were amazing and really addictive, especially the cards. The ending was great and there were multiple ones to get.

I have played through this game so many times, I know where almost everything is at. Some people may call me a freak, but I don't give 2 shits about those people.

FFIX FTW!!!!

Alright, Cardiac. You're in!

Also, I want to remind everyone that if anyone seeks the secondary leader position, PM me so I can personally ask you serious questions about the game. If more than two people apply, the person with the highest score wins. In the case of a tie, I'll keep asking different questions until someone gives a wrong answer.

Thank you, that'll be all.

I have to mention another trump card about FFIX (I'll try to post more about my first experiences playing the game at some point) - having Moogles as save points and featuring a lot in the game. They're too sweet and I love their role in it.

Tsukianei wins second leader position! He's proven to know quite a lot than nay other candidate.

If I'm ever absent, he's in charge of the club. Also, he gets to add rules (as long as they're fun or fair).

As your second leader, I promise to lower the prices for airship passage from Alexandria to Lindblum! Coming from a working class family, I know how harsh the prices can be.

Also, I will set forth new areas in the city for the trading of Gyshal Pickles ONLY. No one likes their smell... No one.

I will abolish the need for a pass through the gates from Dali to Treno.

No more poaching in Chocobo's forest.

I will concentrate on making engines that can run without mist available to the public at a reduced cost.

Offer all Black Mages and Geonomes full Gaian citizenship!

I will also be offering the services of Tsukianei Inc. HALF PRICE to all Gaian citizens.

Live long and prosper. :yay:

So...Mr. Second Leader.....

.....how high do you plan to raise our taxes for the reconstruction and regeneration of Burmecia?

And what kind of restrictions do you plan to put on aggressive states to prevent them from attacking other countries?

And also - what will you do about crime in Treno?

I can answer that.

For that Burmecia bit, I will now declare that from this day onward, new jobs will be opened for people who won't mind helping out in Burmecia's reconstruction. Taxes will increase by 5 Gil for any purchases done at the Lindblum and Alexandrian weapon shops.

In order to prevent attacks to other cities, I will hire Zidane to execute Grand Lethal on any of the hostile entities that wish to declare war. That should end it before it even starts.

Finally, I will pay Tantalus 300 Gil an hour to watch the streets of Treno for any criminal activity (and I can see the irony in that).

Tedo has handled this the same way that I would. The 5gil tax on weapons is a great idea. I will also be placing "emergency response" airships near other, less defended cities in order to attempt to stop further attacks.

As for Treno, the auction house is hit hard at least 3 times a week. Therefore, I am assigning Steiner, and his Knights of Pluto outside the auction house doors, to prevent muggings.

Also, Moogles shall now be paid for their troubles in chronicling the journeys of the masses. Therefore, they shall all be paid if they seek payment.

You know... For a fanclub... We're not talking about the game that much. So, in order to initiate a conversation...

Do you believe Vivi to be dead? Also, who do you think he had kids with? Those little Vivi's had to come from somewhere. Is he Asexual? Or did he get his Black Mage on with someone?

Discuss. :mokken:

I believe he is indeed dead. But since there wasn't any hint or hints that he had the hots for someone (perhaps only Garnet), it's more probable that he is asexual. That's what I think anyway.

I also believe Vivi to be dead. There is too much evidence to support the fact.

However... I don't believe that he reproduced asexually. He was very unique when it came to his looks. All of the other Black Mages were taller, and dressed differently. Vivi was the only Black Mage that looked any different. The "little Vivis" that were running around were dressed the same, and about the same height.

Also, if he could reproduce asexually, why didn't any of the others. If you go to Black Mage Village, you see two Black Mages trying to raise a Chocobo as a child. If they could reproduce asexually, why would they be raising a Chocobo and not a Black Mage Child?

In fact, if they did reproduce asexually, you would think you would see more Black Mages running around towards the end of the game. O__O

So I really think that Vivi got his Black Mage on, fired up some candles, played some Rick Astley or Marvin Gaye and showed someone his Mages Staff. :kinky:

But then again, that's just me. I've always had difficulty trying to figure this out. :hmmm:

Looks like "Master of TMI" should bey our next title.

But Vivi was a prototype, after all. He could have reproduced asexually. THAT makes more sense.

However, if he was the prototype, why would there be others before him? Shouldn't he have been first? Or was he the prototype for a newer model?
