Freya and Zidane

When you first see Freya in Lindblum, it becomes clear that she and Zidane already know each other. I always wondered in what way they met.

Any ideas on the how?

I actually wondered this earlier, since I'm replaying FFIX at the moment. Didn't Zidane say she used to live next door? O_O

Or, the most logical explanation in my eyes is that he met her while he was having his adventures with Baku and his crew ;D

Yeah I wondered that myself. I dont think they did anything because I just dont see anything there concerning them both. maybe theyre paths crossed when Zidane was doing his looting lol.

Well Freya was in love with Sir Fratley but she hadn't seen him in a while. So maybe she was just lonely and depressed and the charmer plyed his trade...

As great as the previous bump-and-grind theories are, I believe they met while participating in the Festival of the Hunt. Its quite a logical theory in my opinion...

...or being the ladies man Zidane is, he probably saw how depressed Freya was over Sir Fratley and he tried to comfort her...with his penis

I imagine they just ran into each other at one point (and/or had to help each other) as both seem to have done a lot of travelling around the world. I would point Zidane is 16 during the events of FFIX so he probably met Freya when he was a little younger, and thus was underage, so I can't see any romantic involvement between them without things sounding really dodgy XD

Note also that Freya casually mentions if Zidane will be participating in the Hunt "this year", indicating that they've at least liaised regarding said Hunt on one separate occasion previously.

Seeing as Zidane said he'd been all over the world, probably not literally but still, he could've met up with Freya any time since he hits on any chick he sees.

What makes it seem weird for me is that at the time of FFIX, Zidane is 16.
When talking to Freya, he says it's been 3 years. So he was 13 when he first met her? Wouldn't have she just looked at him as a little boy, not this womanising bandit everyone views him as.
I swear Square makes the majority of the FF characters way too young for their intielligence/maturity?
I.e. Zidane seems to me more like a 19 year old, not 16. Yes he can be immature, but not as annoying as a average 16 year old. He has a lot of independence, and likes the women to much for a 16 year old imo lol

lol I always thought that they may have had some sort of relationship considering how Zidane is and how offended Freya was that Zidane didn't remember her name. Though that is kind of a strange image.... I won't even go there...

I'm sure that even if they didn't have a relationship that Zidane probably did flirt with her.

I'm gonna go with the likely conclusion that the two just met each other at some point while Zidane and Freya were traveling their own ways. While Zidane was trying to find his home and Freya her lover, I'm sure they developed a mutual sympathetic bond of some sort.

And yeah, Zidane's a charmer, but how many lovelies is he gonna charm as a preteen, eh?

I just assumed that they had met in Lindblum ion the past, seeing as the tantalus guys lived there and there was the festival of the hunt, either that or they just met on their travels, like when he was travelling with tantalus or something.

The idea of them being in a relationship of any kind didn't even cross my mind, especially as she was so hung up on Fratley, he even asked if she had found him yet, so nah, I don't reckon anything happened there
