Flattery

Flattery, sucking up, kissing arse, it's practically the same thing, well at least to me anyway.

I think it's all a bunch of lies to get into your good side, which in a way it is, so I think that it's a bad thing. And to avoid being a hypocrite, I don't practice it in any way, shape, or form.

How do you feel about it?

Well, I think it depends on how it's used.

Flattery is good for when you like someone and want to be with them for a relationship.

As for kissing ass. That's so lame. I hate when students do that, it's annoying. Pfft. I just want to bash their heads in.

i'd say that watching someone suck up to someone really pisses me off. especially when im watching one of those tv shows like the bachelor and theres the one chick that does nothing but compliment the guy. people like that piss me off. now if i was being sucked up to, i would really still find it annoying. especially when people really do it and its really obvious...how irritating.

Uhhmmm...I don't know if anyone has ever sucked up to me...I don't see why anyone would unless I were a teacher or something.

I'd hardly consider 'ass kissing' and 'flattery' to be synonymous, Warb.


None really bother me to be honest. People have tried flattering me (I say "people" but it's probably just one or two...), so I can only comment on that as a person on the receiving end. I suppose there's been a few kiss-asses online, and they annoyed me a smidge. It was just so... often.

Anyway. I dislike it when people suck up to others. Do they want attention or perhaps get something out of it? Maybe. Most likely. Kissing ass - same thing. As for flattery...that actually depends. There's people who are actually genuine when they flatter people. And that's fine - I see nothing wrong with that. But when it's done so that it's almost as "sucking up" and "kissing ass"...I feel sorry for both parties.
