Playstation Firmware 3.0 issues?

with the new PS3 firmware just being released i was just wondering if anyone has found any major or minor problems with the new firmware.

one problem that i have encounter is that playing uncharted today, it repeatedly crashed on me, at first i thought it was my game so after cleaning the disc, i put it back in and it still crashed. has anyone else had issues with uncharted or other games for that matter.
 
I actually haven't downloaded the update yet because of this thread. Thanks for the link to the PlayStation board.
 
Overall, I wouldn't worry about the 3.0 firmware is fine apart from the Uncharted problem, and the diabolical grey-looking friend list, chances are they'll patch it at some point, other than those two you should d/l it anyway, which you'll most likely have to do if you plan to play online.
 
Yeah... I remember there being some issues about an update making the system freeze up about a year ago, but they literally had it fixed later that day, so the patch I downloaded was the "fixed" version. I don't have Uncharted, so I'll probably download/install this update tomorrow.

I just happened to have an urge to play Uncharted again just after downloading the patch... Bad timing, right? :brooding:

It kept freezing.. Again and again. I was growing quite concerned that the disc was cracked, but eventually I read on the internet that others had the same problem and that it was to do with this patch. No idea what it is that seems to pick on Uncharted... Then again I believe it might be a few other games too. I can't remember which but I was playing another game which crashed. Neither Uncharted or this other game had crashed prior to the update.

Urk... I groaned when I saw that for the first time. I loved how the friends list looks so smooth and took up so little space... You could see the background behind everythign clearly. Now it is all chunky and just looks chaotic to me now. Not much of an improvement at all in that front.

In other aspects though, the patch is pretty awesome. BBC iPlayer is pretty awesome to have.. And I like the news part. I've came into contact with some good interviews etc through those about games I'm interested in. So I would say it is overall a good patch.

I hate that, too. And that weird box around the date and time in the upper-right corner is ugly.
