Having been in development for nearly 4 years, Square Enix President, Yōichi Wada today announced when speaking to ITMedia that Final Fantasy XIII is proceeding well with it's development and is ready to attend Tokyo Game Show 2009 on 24th September, he also commented that the title will almost certainly be coming out in Japan by the end of the in which it's release date will be set with the next few weeks for the Japanese version.

great news i aint determining if this game will be good or not basing on the japenese version because they might improve on things for the NA version

That's awesome!! Hopefully the NA version will be complete early 2010. I'm guessing that if they give the NA version extra stuff/ fix glitches in the Japanese version, they'll eventually make an international version that's better than them all.
I've always wondered why American game developers do this kind of stuff?

Yay! At least!
It really took them long...
I wonder how many "weeks" it'll take though. Hopefully no more than 2 or 3.
And I hope the release date itself won't be far away.

After that, all we have to do is wait to the NA or PAL release (PAL in my case).
I'll be glad if they'll say something positive about the english version.
Like : Comnig Soon or something.

You'll most likely be looking at TGS itself for an announcement on the Japanese release date :monster:

It's Japanese developers that do that, most likely for a financial reason. FFXIII will most likely be a massive hit in Japan when it's released as it probably will be in NA and EU as well, you can thing of Japan's Internation Version as a Special Edition release :monster:

Damn man, I need to get a PS3, can't wait to play this game
OR a 360. It's not like it's exclusive anymore, people, even though you all treat it like it is still. Personally, I dunno why people would want to shell out an extra $600 to play it when they could get a cheaper system. Especially considering the price of the game itself may be too much on its own.

So we're reduced to being excited about the approximate date of an approximate Japanese release date of FFXIII? Oh well, I can't be cynical all the time, this is still good news- which indicates that it is going smoothly. I'm looking forward to trying the game out after I've heard resounding praises of the battle system.

Once FFXIII is out and the excitement of FFXIV dies out, the cycle will restart. A new numbered Final Fantasy (FFXV) will be in development and we'll be patiently waiting like we have been for FFXIII in the last four years. I have high hopes for the future FFXV because the number 15 is quite a lucky number for me. If FFXIII DOES do well, then the number 13 will not be so unlucky!

Because the 360 has a lot of hidden fees, such as the 50 bucks for Xbox Live each year. The longer you have a 360, the more it will cost than the PS3. I have both, and I paid

$550 for my PS3 (It also comes with a Blue-ray player and 20gb more memory than the 360)

$500 for my Xbox with Xbox Live.

Next year, I'll be spending another $50 on Xbox Live, while PS3 remains free.

$550 and $550. The year after that, my Xbox will have cost me more than my PS3. I gotta rethink this whole "Live is better because everyone has it" thing. :gonk:

The initial fee is high, but the Xbox ends up costing more. I still love it for the exclusive games like Gears and Halo, but Microsoft is ripping us off.

Yeah, because you feel like you HAVE to have online content, Microsoft are bad for making you pay. That's like somebody complaining about buying MMO's without checking out if it has monthly subscriptions. Personally, I don't do much with live, so I don't plan on getting it for myself yet. I'm more of a single-player RPG type, which the 360 is much more suited for, IMO.

But seriously, even if, because of how YOU do things, the 360 costs more, I still think it's worth it because it doesn't have overall shit exclusive titles (not counting Halo games, which I typically hate as a whole). And, on the other hand, what's the point of owning a PS3 because the internet is free if, as you said, 'everyone has Xbox Live'? I'd much rather play with friends who have xbox live than a bunch of nobodies I just play Killzone 2 with on PS3. Much like I'd righter play co-op with a bunch of mates alongside me on a couch long before I would play games online period. Besides the exclusives thing, the multiconsole games, when it comes to their PS3 versions, are normally crap as well because the system is so tempermental for game designers to develop for.

So, all that considered, as a game design major, single-player RPG, and 'couch co-op' player, I don't see why someone who likes similar things to myself can really advocate the PS3 at all. I'm a Sony fan, mind, but I feel they got a lot wrong with the PS3.

Finally! Now I'm just praying we'll get to see the NA version at some point in early 2010. FFXIII has been the center of my attention for a while now, so every little new bit of information about it always counts!

It's most likely because in the long run the PS3 has a lot more going for it, personally I don't think they got that much wrong, just the two main things they got wrong were massive, the price of it was the biggest mistake Sony have done and I'll think they'll learn from it, it became a premium console that was essentially for the more financially stable people whereas the 360 was affordable to everyone, secondly, the release titles were shocking, other than the Resistance I wouldn't be able to name any of them, furthermore, this brand new top of the range console had launch titles that visually looked like a decent PS2 game, not next gen. That's the short term over.

Long term, PS3 will out do the 360. The PS3 is what, £299.99 now? Still not cheap but Sony's 70% cut in developing it has shown well, people just need to realise it's not possible to a £450 console to £200 in one go without having major financial problems. Even then it's only £70 more expensive than the Xbox Elite and £140 more than the normal 360, the latter being out 2 years longer and substantially costs less to make and develop. You also have to look at that come the end of this year, beginning of next the PS3 will have better exclusives and I'll stand firm with that one, because no matter how many people argue against it, the PS3 is more powerful.
Furthermore, as the months go on, developers will find the PS3 easier to develop on which means it'll cost less to develop meaning cheaper games, more people buy the PS3 and Sony will reduce the price, the same thing happened with the PS2, all of a sudden things are looking up.

I have to agree with adventchildcs to a certain degree as well, I felt that I needed to buy Live to get the most out of my 360 and while it won't affect some people such as yourself not having it, for the people who are on the fence about getting it, you could save money long term by getting a PS3 and having free online.

You also have to look at the 360 is apparently looking at 2014 before a brand new Xbox comes out making it's life span around 8/9 years and the PS4 most likely around 2016 making that 8/9 years too, I bet by time the PS4 comes out the PS3 will have outsold the 360 by quite a bit.
