The earlier mentioned Final Fantasy XIII web novel leading up to the events of Final Fantasy XIII has been put up on the Square-Enix website today. Sadly, the first three chapters and indeed the whole thing, are all in Japanese but someone is bound to translate or at least give us the jist of it soon.

Gah, it's a tad annoying that it is only in Japanese. But naturally an English version (either official or fan translated) will pop up soon enough. I mean how much effort could it possibly take to translate a web novel?
 
Could be a lot of effort, actually. It isn't exactly a quick or easy job.
 
Awwww fuck I want to read this so badly and im hoping it gets translated in the coming week! It looks great and I look forward to reading!

Really? Wouldn't it just be a matter of getting someone who is fluent in Japanese and English to interpret it?

Or have I only scratched the tip of the iceberg? :wacky:
 
Well certainly an english-speaking person who is fluent in Japanese would be able to translate it, however it will probably take some time on their part.

Tip of the iceberg. Don't assume that translators can just pop this stuff out quick and that's that. A lot of them put a lot of time and effort in doing what they do.

I understand that there are different concepts in Japanese which would be hard to explain in English an' such. But if certain people can translate a conversation between two people who are speaking different languages as it is happening, you can certainly understand why I think that it really wouldn't take that long to translate a web novel.

I know that I am probably looking at this from a very ignorant perspective. But in my defence I haven't exactly received an explanation either.
