Final Fantasy VII Remake

If they don't remake, in my honest opinion, it would be more their lose then that of the gamers. A remake could mean big profit for them, FF7 was one of their most phenominal games, and the fans would probaly like nothing more then to replay the game with the fantastic level of graphics we currently have nowadays. A remake would definetely be a worthwhile investment.

As much as I would like the remake of VII to be announced I just can't see it happening. You've got Nomura directing FFXIII Versus (as well as the majority of the VII team), KHIII (after Versus), Birth by Sleep, Coded and 358/2 as well as designing the characters for Dissidia and I'm pretty sure Nomura would hate it not to have a part in creating a remake.

All being said, it's not impossible that a remake could be announced, just a very slim chance of it.

Well, that being said, it could all just be a matter of time. Once all them games are outta the way, he might run head first into a FF7 remake. Who knows what the future holds.

(Man...Nomura is gonna have his work cut out for him for the next few years O.O)

Personally I would love to see a Final Fantasy VII remake, as long as they didn't go overboard and completely change the storyline to the point that the story seemed more like an alternate take on it.

My main reason for this is because the PlayStation's graphics didn't do justice to the game's incredible storyline. Also I personally don't own FFVII since it came out when I was very little, so I would love to have an updated version of the game to play on the PlayStation 3.

Square Enix would have to get as many of the people that made the original game involved as possible to pull off the remake without letting down the old fans, and to give any new fans the chance to play a decent video game with a good storyline and great characters.

I don't want another FFVII game, because I think this game alone has becme it's own little franchise, but I am against franchises, because they all eventually take selling-numbers over real quality products. Dirge and Crisis Core did not interest me much because I already knew how it would end and i HATE such storylines (storylines being the most important part of FF).

Hmmm. On a serious note I'm not sure if I want one. The original was too perfect that I'm not sure if a remake would do anything good for it. With good graphics coming on, and an updated emo look some of the comical scenes of the original may dissapear. Plus, the soundtrack may also decline in quality from the magical melodies of FF7 to become a hybrid of forgettable tracks and pretty ok mixes of FF7 tracks like Crisis Core seemed to be.

I accuarly agree abit there. I wouldn't want the music to be messed up because I like the orignal versions much more than some that are new. Crisis Core music seemed to be messed up when I listened to Aerith's theme, Turks theme and One winged angel on YouTube. I also agree with the scene issue you have pointed out.

On an upward point, it'd be amazing if they did because i'd like to see what they have done to some scenes and what they look like. I'd especially enjoy when Cloud has to dress up, lmao. ^.^
I really, really wish they wouldn't mess the music up because I didn't think One winged angel was good in CC.

Agreed. The story-line makes FF7. Thats why it's so popular. Take that away and you've got nothing.

MAKE IT!! NOW!!

And also, I wish they wouldn't tease us with the PS3 tech because HELL, it looked AMAZING!

I think that bringing out a remake will tarnish the games reputation, I mean they have done it enough with Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, I just don't think they should do anymore with it. You guys say you want a remake but you know what will happen, some people will start to complain that its nothing like the original etc.

So please just leave it as it is now. It's been ruined enough.

Square does seem to be setting the stage for the possibility, and as much as I would LOVE to see it happen I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Final Fantasy VII is a phenomenal game, but they're already milking it for what it's worth. With the exception of Crisis Core, and Advent Children I care less for the spin-offs.

Yes I do. But they should not change the story in anway at all. Or they should come up with another story with thew same charactors. I know so much about them!!! I know people that cried when Aeris died. Maybe they should do voice-overs but I think we all have a different opinion to how they sound like and that could spoil it for some people for example if Barret had I high pitched voice. The sound effects should also be improved.

The pieces are setting into place rather nicely, if not unexpectedly in some cases. The technical demo, Advent Children, Crisis Core, FFXIII on both the 360 and PS3.

Oh, it's just a question of when they'll announce it...

I think they will, it will also make the PS3 have a selling point because I haven't heard reports of "PS3 outsales".

I agree, and people are already prepared to buy It. There Is no telling which will make the most selling between FF VII, FF V XIII, and KH III. I added KH III since that's also Square-Enix. :D

if theys make the remake of Final Fantasy VII just like the orginal just with better graphic it will be the best one of all im sure but i heard rumors abou it that it will come out for psp like FFVIICC and KH3 so i hope it will be PS3

It won't happen. Really can't see it being remade, too many people speculated over the tech demo for the PS3, probably the only reason this is under discussion. If they were going to remake it, I seriously doubt they'd have used it for a tech demo.

Well with this "big announcement for FF7" coming up, I have to admit I've had my hopes up very high that we'd get the news of a remake. Taking in to consideration how many other projects SE has atm though, I'm just not sure it's going to happen.. At least not for a good couple of years.

Anyhow, I stumbled across this interesting article all about how FF7 will not be coming to the PS3, or so the author thinks. Take a look:
http://www.split-screen.com/2008/07/12/why-final-fantasy-7-wont-come-to-the-ps3/

I have to admit that he has a point, but I'm still going to keep hoping that we did indeed get a remake one day.

Actually, there's numerous reasons why this has been in discussion for so long. First was the technical demo, then you have the FFVII Compilation ending in the most recent Crisis Core, you've had various statements stating that SE would consider working on a FFVII remake if the original team could get back together and after recent projects are finished (i.e FFXIII), and of course, the various ports and remakes (which we are currently up to what, 4 on the DS? So 5 is up next). Now, you have this huge bombshell that FFXIII is going on the 360 as well. Not to mention that the game itself has the hugest fan base.

All of this together, continues to hint very strongly that a remake will come. It's only a matter of time. And the amount of profit that they'd make from it (whether it would be cross-platform or not) would be huge.

The problem is, who from the original team will be left? After Nomura has finished whoring Advent Children and gone back to working on FFXIII Versus he plans to leave the Final Fantasy side of SE and continue working on the Kingdom Hearts series.
Even then the FFXIII compilation is set to last 10 years and a remake of VII would be a huge and unnecessary project which means pulling people out of the XIII compilation to work on it.

It depends what you mean by unneccessary. A lot of newer fans to the series simply have no access to a game that is often heralded as the 'best', there is a huge margin of profit for SE on such a move, and they have stated that the FFVII compilation would last another decade as well.

Personally, if it means pulling people out of the remaining XIII compilation (once XIII and Versus is out), I have no problem at all in them doing this for last installment to the FFVII saga and making a remake.

To be honest I think a remake would be a pointless waste of time... If i wanted to play FF7 again, I'd simpyl pick up the original and play it...
They don't NEED to do a remake for FF7 as the graphics were 3d, and not realy that bad... Plus the graphics sort of suited the game....
If they remake FF7 the worst thing they can do is to make it like Crisis Core, which is sadly probably the route they may go.

Truth is, FF7 was excellent the way it is, it doesnt need spicing up.

In response to this, how long ago was the Tech demo made? If they were planning to make a remake at the time of the technical demo, don't you think they would've finished and released it by now?

then you have the FFVII Compilation ending in the most recent Crisis Core,

I haven't played through Crisis Core yet, so can't respond.

you've had various statements stating that SE would consider working on a FFVII remake if the original team could get back together and after recent projects are finished (i.e FFXIII), and of course, the various ports and remakes (which we are currently up to what, 4 on the DS? So 5 is up next).

The first line of this completely contradicts the first thing you said. In what way would the tech demo be a hint of a remake if months after they say they'd "consider" making a remake? The remakes of the older games don't really mean anything either. They're just being brought into 3D, FFVII was already make in 3D, so it doesn't need to follow suit, and if your believe it will be remade because the older ones are, then would you say they'd carry on remaking them up to number XII? Ofcourse you wouldn't, so that's just completely invalid.

Now, you have this huge bombshell that FFXIII is going on the 360 as well. Not to mention that the game itself has the hugest fan base.

And how exactly does XIII being released on the 360 bare any argument for a VII remake? The fan base is huge, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Don't get me wrong I'd love a remake, but I really don't believe it'll ever happen.
