Final Fantasy VII Remake

You're misquoting me. You mentioned that the technical demo alone was not enough reason for a discussion or hint that a FFVII remake would be possible or could be coming in the future. I've responded by showing you everything that has happened then and since, and that it's all building up towards an announcement that they will be working on it, not that they have been already.

As for your last comment about not understanding the 360 situation. The reason why they are making XIII cross-platform in the first place is because the game will reach a larger fan-base, and they will make a huger profit from it. A FFVII remake would be viable enough just on the PS3 console, but if they are really going to utilize profit from this (as well as reaching both first time players and new ones) they would really need to make it cross-platform.

The problem is, who from the original team will be left? After Nomura has finished whoring Advent Children and gone back to working on FFXIII Versus he plans to leave the Final Fantasy side of SE and continue working on the Kingdom Hearts series.

Making a FFVII remake without Nomura could be a good thing really, since he's the one who'd probably want to add in all the extra stuff.

Perhaps a re-release of the original game, so that the game isn't so hard for people to obtain anymroe would be better than a remake. Perhaps a new edition re-release?
That way the integrity of the original won't be lost, and it will allow many more gamers to experience the game...

My worry is that now, because FF7 is so hard to obtain for people (my freinds are after it, and buying it on the internet is so damn expensive), that people will turn to the remake and then feel that they don't need to play the original FF7...
If the remake is at a similar standard to Crisis Core, then that is a very worrying thing indeed. IMO.

I really hope they don't remake it, then i'd have to buy a PS3/360 which I really don't want to have to do haha...I'm happy with my PS1 and playing VII & VIII to death over and over.

If they do remake it, however, I'd call for a change in absolutely nothing except for graphical detail. Keep everything else the same as in the original, poorly translated script and all!

If a remake ever does get made, Square Enix must know not to change much and just make improvements. Updated graphics, voice acting, that's pretty much it. Maybe make slight references to Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus to connect everything accordingly. Everything else should remain the same (battle system, main storyline, etc). However, I personally doubt that we will ever see a PS3 remake of FFVII. There just isn't time. SE is busy with the FFXIII compilation and when they're finally done, they're probably going to take a well deserved break before getting back to Kingdom Hearts. A friend of mine thinks this "Big FFVII Announcement" is a PS3 exclusive RPG sequel to FFVII. He says maybe instead of Sephiroth the gang has to deal with Genesis this time around. Could be possible, the original crew that made FFVII wouldn't neccesarily be required to do a sequel and they can still have an impact on a sequel without being directly involved. My guess as to what this announcement will be, the original FFVII being made available for download on the Playstation Network ($14.99?).

I'd definitely like to see a remake of Final Fantasy VII, but it should be just that; a remake. It's story shouldn't be changed, FFVII is one of my favourite FF games, FFVIII is my favourite, but that's already got good graphics for a PS1 game.

A graphically improved, nostalgic feeling, yet fresh experience from a FFVII remake, and hopefully, also with good music like the original, that would be nice.

I'd love to see a remake, I already have a PS3, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, being as big of a fan of the Final Fantasy series as I am.

If it does happen, it may not be for quite a while, and I'm willing to wait, there's certainly plenty of fun games to play until that time may come.

Once Christmas rolls around, I'll have MGS4 to play, but unfortunately, as much as I want it, no sooner. But it isn't too far off, more than half of the year is already past, it's seemed to go by so quickly.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for that announcement in early August, but not get my hopes up too much, it could just be a letdown...

Even though I do believe in not messing with a classic, I can't see them messing it up, because they aren't idiots. Square knows what they are doing and if they did decide to add anything new I can only seeing it improving the game if possible.

I myself am looking forward to a remake, and I'm pretty sure they will get around to it, if not for a while.

I dont know... It depends on whether they do it on the same level as Crisis Core was.... As if they do that.. Then it realy will be messed up.

Personally I don't see a reason for a remake... Everyone likes the game already, it's not like they need to remake it to get people into it.
The game couldn't be made better realy, not without the original team behind it and the bringing back of many FF elements that have been lost recently...

Yes, I think the chances of there someday being a remake are quite high, but I wouldn't expect it to happen anytime soon, for all we know, it could be well over a decade from now.

Basically just an update in graphics... Thats all I would like if they realy HAD to do it... I'd prefer them not too.. As there is little point.

But we all know they probably will do more than just a graphic boost, and mess with the music, gameplay elements that made the original fantastic.

I see where you are coming from, but if you have noticed that Zack is rapidly becoming more popular than Cloud, I think it has to do with due to the lack of voice acting and realistic graphics, you didn't get as attached to the characters in FFVII as you did in Crisis Core.

I think if you can make the characters more realistic, it will shift people's views and they will be able to relate more to the original characters. Emotions will be intensified and the game will simply be more enjoyable.

You didn't get attatched the characters in FFVII?
Beleive me, I've been replaying FF7 this year so I can say in confidence that the characters are very well portrayed in this game, and the emotions felt are quite alot higher than in Crisis Core... Crisis Core was too full of running in a closed off map to have time for decent character development.

I did find it kool to play as Zack, and learn a bit more about what he was like / seeing in his personality elements that Cloud would take upon himself after the incident.

It doesnt take voice acting and graphics to bring the original characters to life though... They were full of life already.

Hate to say it but I didn't.

Just reading the text wasn't really getting to me.

Aerith died and I was like, "let's move it along already.."

Zack is the only person I've yet to get emotionally attached to.

I guess it must differ with each person then, unless you haven't played FF7 recently. It's a shame you didn't feel anything from FF7, as there were soem brillliant character developments in that game.

No don't get me wrong, it's still probably one of my favorite games, I just wouldn't say I got attached to the characters on an emotional level.

Oh, and going off topic for a second, isn't it about time for the next round of your immune and boot game?

Thanks for reminding me! :P Will calculate and update now...

Hmmm.. best make a comment or else this will be deleted as spam..

Well I could cope with a remake if all it was was a graphics update and voice overs added.. I don't want any of the gameplay elements to change.. and that includes the world map, and an airship that CAN FLY!!!
And also, that means well designed maps, and not PATHS with set CIRCLES to fight predictable BATTLES!

Haha, I completely agree with you on that aspect.

S-E has gotten really lazy with world maps.
