As some of you have read earlier in Square Enix news section, LR:XIII will be having a new style of logo to show of how "new" it is. Does this mean that any game that wasn't announced before LR:XIII will be having a new type-set?

I'm very worried about this. Usually they don't change type-sets unless its for spin offs or other games, such as 4 heroes of Light and Mystic Quest. Even though i never liked XIII and some of you may have not liked XII or V. We can admit that the logos were very captivating and one of the things that made final fantasy so unique. Not only was it captivating, but it looked very modern. If you compare the logos, they all look like they were done in the same time span. It's hard to imagine them not being part of the same era with just the logos.

Not only that but the new Logo looks boring and very western, the current one we have looks universal. accepted by both west and east and incredibly artistic. Yoshitaka Amano's artwork glow with the very simple yet suitable font.

I'm very worried about it, i would probably make a petition to keep the current final fantasy logo format if they do decide that. What do you all think?

You'll probably have more of a case if they go ahead and do the same thing for the next proper numbered title. Until then, I'm not giving much of a fuss about what they do for LR: FFXIII because I'm more or less treating it as a spinoff game. If all future games start having these revamped logos that - I do agree - look heavily based on what western action games would have, then we can pretty much question the point of this exercise. Then again, this is Square-Enix. Ordinary reasoning seems to be futile with this lot.

What got me worried was they representing the newness with the logo. So if a new game uses this as a stepping stone...well...you know. The old logo may be purged

It's highly unlikely that they are going to update all of the logos with the "Lighting Returns" style of art. While yes, it may be a step forward, it also represents a step backward as SE is ramming down our throats the need for Final Fantasy XIII to be successful as their predecessors, especially on the franchises' 25th anniversary. It would be wrong on so many levels.

Its the first numbered FF to have a different style (that i know of, so i might be wrong).

However, it is not part of the main series, just a spinoff or a sequel, so I am not worried.

yeh i dont want the old logo to be purged ='(, but with every dimming of a light there is a new one formed. I just hope that if they do create a new logo it will be worthwhile and memorable for the people who will be starting of with the new logo =).
