I don't see a thread for this and am not sure where to put this.

Also how come this game hasn't get its forum either? Since the game has been announced a few weeks ago at E3.

Anywayz so what your thoughts on opinions about XIV, guys?

Me, I personally think its a bad idea making XIV online only. I was wanting and/or expecting to be a single game myself just like most of the games in the series.

FF games should always be single games and NOT online only imo.



Didn't SE learn anything about the criticism of XI? Damned idiots.

I doubt if I will get XIV unless it doesn't have subscribtion charges and/or offline mode as well. If doesn't have either of those things - well than forget about it.

Hopefully they did, and we'll see a more streamlined MMO in FF XIV and a more reasonable release schedule. I don't think the criticism directed towards XI can be compared to XIV though. When XI was first announced, MMORPGs was still very much a niche genre, and most Final Fantasy fans at the time were console owners who were sceptical about online gaming. Today MMORPGs are huge and pretty much every console owner have their console hooked up to the internet.

From what little we've seen and heard so far, I am not overly excited myself. WoW which is my current MMO of choice doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon, and BioWare's upcoming Star Wars MMO sounds fantastic. I will check out XIV somewhere down the line though.
 
Yes, hopefully they learned from their mistakes.... SE has the skill to make a good MMO but they lack the effort.. I didn't even play FFXI and i know that it was pretty much a big epic failure. A lot of my friends had told me that it sucked.. but since this is going to be FFXIV..... i hope they have thought about and fixed all of the areas that XI sucked at.. i want FFXIV to be the new MMO that i play..
 
Figure I'll reply to this thread with my opinions on FFXIV being a rumored sequel to FFXI.

That kinda ticks me off. I believe that if S-E is going to go to online games again, it should not take away from the main games in the series. (Ex: I-X, XII, XIII) It should be a spin-off game or something like that. This going online only stuff just makes less people able to play the game overall.

However, if it is online, I'd kinda hope that they wouldn't have a monthly charge every single freakin' month like FFXI has.
 
Of course, they are going to, because they like to be vindictive bastards. Honestly, I am way more excited for XIV than XIII, which is unfortunate because it is going to be centuries before I can afford a PS3 and play XIII (which is not on my list of first games to buy for the PS3 anyways) and if XVI is online, then I'll probably never be able to play it. My computer won't run it well enough and even if I bought a graphics card or storage space, I can't have monthly fees and still pay rent and buy groceries.

So yeah, I'm pretty upset about this.

Agreed, a bunch of haters to this game (ffxi) basically had no idea it was online only when purchasing (befuddles me).

So this time I hope people are full and aware that FFXIV will be online only. I mean FFXI had a lot of great things brought to the table as far as RPGs come but they still have a lot to go until becoming a main label RPG.

So let's just hope the devs at SE actually keep an ear out for the "MAJORITY" opinionated gamers. As in they don't turn a deaf ear to season veterans of FFXI. They take into mind what needs to be improved, rather than going down the same route and putting whatever the hell they want just as long as people buy it.
 
Well...Most of the trailers and information that have been released on FF XVI have given SOME sign that it is going to be online only...and come on, people still have about a year to figure it out XD.

Personally I am looking forward to it, yet I still can't help but to agree that there are ALOT of drawbacks...especially the fee >.>...
 
Well firstly we aren't sure there will be a fee, the games still in development and got a long way to go. Who knows they might pull a Guild Wars and you only got to buy the game + expansion to keep playing.

The reason being that they are making XIV an actually title not a spin off is because of the XIII series, theres going to be what six games in that series with three being confirmed and in the making. The XIII series is going to take a few years to get through everything and in the meantime theres XIV on the side.

XIV appears it will be a good game and after looking over it it does appear to be an online only game but they should certainly improve it over XI.
