The Nintendrone has gotten their hands on some supposedly leaked FFXIV information from this weeks Famitsu. This hasn't been 100% confirmed, but let's hope it's real. Rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt. We'll have the actual magazine translated as soon it's released in Japan.

The last line below Tanaka says the graphics are at 50%. What this means is that the current graphics of FFXIV that we've seen in the playable alpha and in the trailer is set at 50% of the actual quality. So there's 50% more to go. Basically, no details are shown yet. Amazing huh?

  • Necklaces, belts, and rings, unlike XI, will be reflected graphically when equipped
  • It seems as though westerners translated my comments as “everything would be seamless” but in actuality not everything from towns and the worlds will be seamless
  • Seamless movement in an area equivalent to the size of a region in XI will be possible.
  • You will be able to draw weapons in towns.
  • Battles with enemies will take into account front/back/left/right positioning. Haven’t thought about elevation effects
  • Characters will not age, however, you will be able to change your hairstyle
  • Deterioration of weapons may be reflected graphically as well
  • Translated in the west as fully voiced, but not all NPCs will have voice
  • Etherlite (sp?) is not just a warp device, but can also be a place for people to gather
  • Character movement utilizes motion capture. Was not used at all in XI
  • Character’s visual expressions will also change during the game
  • Basic play will be in windowed mode, rather than full screen mode for PC version
  • Miquottes only have ears above (positioning?). Some Miquotte will have glasses like Humans (forget what they’re actually called) but please don’t ask why they can wear glasses (probably due to ear stem positioning vs. ear position)
  • Tanaka: Even with this, graphics are at around 50%. Please look forward to the graphical aspect

OMGOSH!

It already looks awesome graphics wise from what I've seen! =0

Though I won't be getting the game I will download the FMV's at one stage for music videos and I can not wait to see the final result. =0

Yah But the thing that sucks is that it looks like we will not be playing this Freely. But yah the graphics are really awesome and all. I look forward to it maybe 1 month. If its really good ill continue playing.

All Square Enix have done is limit their market audience, people who work 8/9 shifts or more, or people who go to school/college and still have a social life aren't going to want to fork out monthly fees for a game they won't want to go on.

Well Ryan it actually depends on the stuff in Final Fantasy XIV. If not much people go on XIV then I guess SE will make it free. Possibly. Anyway it looks much better than XI. Dont you think so?

To be entirely fair, I really didn't think an online MMORPG of this calibre would be released as a free game by Square Enix anyway. If it followed the Guild Wars direction, I would have certainly consider buying this game as it would have meant no monthly fees, just the price for the game.

But anyway, 50% graphics? I suppose that would be incredible, but it sounds like a lot to do before its 2010 release date. Brandishing weapons in towns should be interesting. I do hope that you can't freely attack other players, as it would be so annoying. Attacking NPCs should be interesting though.
