With the improved graphics and visuals I am afraid that the length of the game will take a hit. I know the game will have a good story but I'm afraid they made the game too short. How long do you think the game will be?

*edit* I forgot to add length to the title >_<

Considering the length of time the game has been in production AND the fact the Xbox version will span multiple disks i'm expecting it to be at least a fraction longer than FF12, side quests aside. I can't see the game length suffering in favour of graphics, considering they were cut back on so the xbox wasn't made obsolete.

The length of the game won't suffer, I can assure you of that. It was stated in an interview with Wada/Kitase that the storyline of FFXIII will last at least 50 hours, but even then you've got to consider level grinding, DLC (eventually) and massive factors like which seriously lengthen gameplay. :)

It certainly wouldn't give SE a good image (whatever is left of it after all these negative comments I have seen and heard lately), and thankfully, I am certain FFXIII won't be a shortened down game. As Mercurial said, the storyline can set you back 50 hours without the grinding and the sidequests. If they decide to create DLC (however much I don't like them), that will set you up for even more hours.

I can say it will probably last you longer than FFXII. The Xbox 360 version may come with 3 or 4 disks- of DVD (I am not an expert of what type though). To me, that sounds like a lot. So rest assured. ;)

I got to admit, I am feeling a tad skeptical about FFXIII since it look as if SE is really pulling out old designs from FF7, FF8 and even a lil bit of FFX to make this game feel complete. Not to mention how similar the plot is with FF6 regarding the Esper-like people and the evil government who are oppressing them.

As for the length wise, here's hoping its more than just 50 hours and I hope the lvl grinding won't be as wicked as FF12.

If it's as long as FFXII, I'll be VERY happy. FFXII went into 70-80 hours for me without grinding or sidequests.

I think it could possibly be the only FF game to completely eclipse FFVII - FFX came close - but it seems to me like XIII is a glorious hybrid of VII, X and XII.

I'm sure the fact that the graphics are gonna be amazing will not impact on the length of the story, each FF game so far has had the most advanced graphics available, and I don't see many people complaining about the length of them xD

If FF13 can be anything like 12, then I will be very happy as well!

However, I wonder exactly what the heck was the SE team thinking about giving a majority of the main characters such lame names. I mean the name "Lightning" or "Snow" aren't terribly creative...

I've got to say, the names are tad lame so I am hoping this storyline will have more of an impact to it make it last over or just about 70 hours.

I agree with you, when I first saw that I was like, oh God.

As for the length of this game, I usually don't take the time to do all of the sidequests until I finish the game for the first time. So, I hope that it really will be at least as long as XII. The story seems very well put together at this point, so if it's a long story, that would probably make it even better in my opinion.

I saw a playthrough of the full Japanese demo on youtube (I think it was full), and it looked awesome! The combat seemed a little weird, you select I think 3 attacks or skills or whatever you need, and then the turn starts, it isn't the classic 1 at a time, this will upset some people I am sure, but it looks pretty fun to me! :awesome:
