hey i tried completing ffxiii once but gave up because my weapons wasnt strong enough... soo what i'm asking is i'm starting again, i'm currently on chapter 3... any tips for helping me complete the game? :)

I don't see why your weapons were not strong enough......You can complete the whole game without having to upgrade any weapons. However if you are having trouble inflicting damage I'd reccomend upgrading accesories (ones with strength) and using deprotect and deshell on your enemies.

Also make sure you build up and control the stagger rate of an enemy before deciding to switch to an offensive paradigm and attack it.

oh :) u can complete the game without upgrading... epic :) well it was just i kept on dieing on the huge field on chapter 11 :) i dn if it was a damage problem or i didnt level up the crytalium enough or whatever :) i just don't really understand the upgrading system :(

Oh I upgraded a ton...and trust me its almost not worth all the effort it takes to do so. Unless you are a completionist.
Thats partly the reason i've given up on the game itself to much damn farming for so little gain.
You cant even realy begin to upgrade well untill the later parts of the chapters anyways so id forgo it unless you have a lot of free time you wish to fill.
Just upgrade usefull accesories if you want to ,its still not realy worth the time though, and enjoy what you can from the game.

All you basically have to do is keep the crystarium system up to a high level and if you manage to nail the paradigm system (you'll only need 4-6 throughout the majority of the game) you could easily complete the game quite comfortably. Even with the last mission which is a supposed "superboss" you can easily beat it with those two combinations and little upgraded equipment, if any at all.

I'm currently on my second play through on this game, I have completed it but I'm CP grinding and maxing out my crystarium, doing the missions, and trying to get all the ultimate weapons. Normally I'm not a perfectionist, but I'm doing this to hold me over a little bit until we get some new info on the second game. I'm also doing this in hopes of bonuses from save game data when I start a file on 13-2. Hopefully square thinks of something cool to do for those who have beaten the original game.

But really I think you should just try to challenge yourself a bit, go the extra mile and try to be a perfectionist about this title. It is quite a challenge at some parts, and I think it keeps it a little exciting when you get new trophies for completing different tasks.

Well if your weapons were not strong enough then you could have upgraded them. Pariticle accelerators help so much. Or if you are at the end of the game. Ultracompact reactors. You need a good grinding spot for Gil and I iamgine you arent far enough for that yet. But if you are like before chapter XI you should be fine with the default weapons. :hmmm:.

If you were getting killed on the Archylte Steppe, you were likely fighting enemies above your pay grade, so to speak. The majority of the enemies there cannot be killed when you first enter the area...some can only be realistically challenged after you have completed the game.

The key for this game is not in the weapons but a fundamental understanding of the different Paradigms and how they work together. You don't really ever need to grind for CP, assuming that you fight all of the enemies in each area. Make sure you spend your CP on each character's innate roles and use a party that makes a measure of sense (again, knowledge of the different roles is critical).

Tip 1: Stop Giving Up
Tip 2: Level Up

I agree with everyone else. You don't need to (per se) level up your weapons, but if you feel compelled to, wait until chapter 12 or 13.
