I've found while playing the game or watching the CGI clips that when the camera moves quite fast lines appear on the screen and cause things to be unaligned - Such as patterns on walls. and I was wondering If this a glitch in the game or is it just something wrong with my tv?

Something wrong with your TV... I dunno, this definately dont happen on my 360 version, you using PS3? I dunno about PS3, but it sounds like a problem with your TV.

Does it do the same thing to any other games? I think its the game, maybe its a glitch like you suggested. You could take it back as a fault maybe, get a new copy and see if its still happening.

I've had this as well. I think it might have something to do with the type of TV, though - I doubt HD TVs have this problem. Its barely noticeable a lot of the time, but it IS there. Especially in those faster, more action-packed cutscenes.

...if its my copy of the game, I'll go insane: I bought a special edition after my amazon copy didn't arrive on the day...

Its not happened to any other games, it just seems to be this one. I think it might be something to do with the graphics being too much for my tv? its probably worth a shot trying it on another tv in my house. But someone said to me there was a bad batch of the games that had this problem. whether or not that is true i don't know.

I sometimes get it, first time I played the game it was really bad, but then this morning when I put the game back on it wasn't as bad. I only have 1 HD TV in my house and I can't use that because everyone uses it so I think it may be something to do with your TV.

Hmm...I can't say I've noticed this problem yet and I am at Chapter 4 so far. My TV isn't an HD one, so maybe it's a faulty TV? That could be possible - though if several people are now sharing this problem at times as well, I'm not too sure about that. If it is to do with some inferior copies of the game - I haven't heard any reports of this problem at the moment until now.

If the problem isn't too unbearable, I guess you don't have to worry about it too much - as long as it's still playable. :hmmm:

Its been happening more frequently as I've been progressing through the game - it really got on my nerves in chapter 7. I've sent an e-mail to the Support Center; hopefully they'll get back to me soon. I'll post their reply here if/when they reply.

I really hope I don't have to send it back or anything, though...if I did, it'd have to wait until next Thursday, when I got Dragon Age Awakening to occupy me in its place...or when my import copy of Pokemon SoulSilver comes. Whichever comes first. I'd have to send it off, since Gamestation probably wouldn't give me a refund...

Still, this is a real pain ._.

I've been having similar problems.

I notice that when it gets to the better CGI scenes and a lot more action packed scenes that a line seems to run through the T.V.

It's not unbearable, but it does give me the shits when it does happen.

I think it's probably the T.V. to be honest. Even though it is a very expensive brand new one, it's possible that it can't take the games graphics that well maybe? It might help if I change the T.V. settings too maybe but not entirely sure.

As long as it doesn't continue and get worse I'm all good with it.

I've been having this as well, I just assumed it was my tv. Better not the the game <_<

I've completed the game on Xbox and had no problems. I'm assuming this is a PS3 thing?

I've just finished Chapter 9, and its gotten beyond the point where I can just shrug it off. It would not stop in the ensuing cutscene, and the portions of the screen that were screwing up were even bigger. I don't see how this can be due to my TV when I have no issues with any other games. Its bugging me immensely...

Still no reply from Square Enix...although I expect the office is closed weekends, or something.

I havent encountered this yet. Flipping Nora, noticed SE didnt mention anything like this occuring. If its happening to all the bloody copies, thats a joke!

When you say lines are all over the place and things are 'unaligned'. It sounds like either BAD screen tearing, or some interlacing issue. It's probably your TV, since I have the PS3 version right here and it's running just fine. Maybe try playing on a different TV and see if that makes a difference.

Ugh it's not so bad but it is annoying when it does happen.

It can't be the game having anything wrong with it if it's happening to a lot of people. The Xbox version probably wouldn't have as good graphics as the PS3 version I'm assuming and maybe the PS3 version is just a bit too much for some people's T.V's to take.

Though wasn't that what the HDMI cable was for?

Maybe I need to look at my T.V settings. I've not gotten around to it yet.

I noticed a line during a battle with Vanille and Sazh. I wasnt worried as everyone here is experincing it, but Im hoping it doesnt really interfer with the game itself to a point when I cant play it.

^^ I'm hoping so too! You'd think that they would have tested the graphics on a few different types of T.V's in order to get the settings right so that when people went and paid top dollar for this game they wouldn't get this sort of thing happening. <_<

It hasn't interfered with my game play as yet and I don't think it will. However, I'm quite annoyed that one of my favourite things about this game (the CGI sequences) isn't exactly flawless. =/ It's a bit disappointing.

Well, I got my answer back from Square Enix:

Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre,

You have contacted us recently regarding an issue with your Copy of Final Fantasy XIII. After reviewing the different info requested it is clear for us that the problem comes from the fact that Final Fantasy XIII can only be played at the screen resolution of 720p. Anything below that HD resolution will not provide you with the minimum requirement for a clear screening experience.
We are sorry to inform you that you will not be able to play the game at its best with your current screen resolution, the game is optimised for HDTVs and there is some loss of quality with SDTVs.

Whilst I am relieved its not the game, I find that SDTVs can't handle it to be incredibly stupid - not everyone has an HDTV, and I for one won't be getting one for a while yet.

Still, hopefully this has put the rest of you who have had this problem at ease as well~
