Did any one else notice that FFXII has a lack of Tonberries.

Why? WHY? WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYY?

They are the coolest enemy eva. Why does FFXII not have them as a enemy?

I haven't played the game in a few months so I can't remeber if they are an optional boss, hunt or rare game ... I'm pretty sure there is no hunt for them though

(Is there a large Tonbbery in the game, a rare game or hunt, does any one know?)

??????

Where are thou Tomberry?

Yes.

Dramatic, aren't we?

Because the designers didn't want them, I guess. Get over it.

There isn't.

See above reply.

?

Where are thou Tomberry?

See previous installments of FF for this answer.

But they are the coolest .....

I want Tomberries ...

And Moomba's (From FFVIII)

Where are thou Tomberry?

Boo hoo. Get over it. If you want them so badly, why don't you spam SE's mailbox with heartfelt letters declaring your love for tonberries? Or better yet, just play the old games that had them.

Frankly, I'm GLAD they didn't put tonberries in XII, they'd probably use the same hideous design from FFXI.

Nah I only like them cos they look really cool in FFIX.

And They probably aren't in it because they wouldn't suit the battle system at all.

No, they wouldn't suit the battle system, they're too slow. If you like them so much, go play FFV through X, you'll have all the tonberries you can handle. I don't see the point in making a topic just for crying about lack of tonberries.

I can't be bothered playing them at the moment .... I've got drawing to do.

And besides I could just summon him in FFVIII ....

And yet you have time to make a thread complaining about lack of tonberries...

Like I said, it's probably a good thing they're not in XII. They turned moogles into bunny/rat hybrids and cactuars into deformed squashes, I don't want to know what they would have done to tonberries. All they are in XII is a rank of airship pilot, or something like that...so...I'd rather leave it as that.

The big thing about Tonberrys is that they'd move slowly towards you. IT builds up tension, so it would ruin the fun putting them in FFXII because you can just run up to them and hack'n'slash them to death in seconds. Poor little buggers. ;_;

They just don't work in the battle environment. Unless, it was some kind of special mission where the party is stuck in a cage or something and has to use ranged attacks, while the Tonberry knifes them through the bars.

BTW, it's "Where art thou, Tonberry?"... "Where are thou, Tonberry?" is grammatically incorrect. Not that it really matters, but just for future reference.

Looks like some people really love to imitate Cyan.
Yeah, too bad they didn't put Tonberries, but its a new battle-system and they wouldn't fit in it.

Yeah, unless SE wants to make them faster and more agile I doubt they will reappear, unless via summon like in 8 (I hope not) or not at all. I prefer the latter imo, a butcher knife weilding, toad-like creature with a strange lantern that can kill you in a hit that takes about 4/5 turns just to hit you would be pretty weak in games such as ff12 and the upcoming ff13.

Ugh, im glad they didn't have them.....I went off them imensley after I played VIII. If I ever see another Tonberry again it will be too soon. I also agree that their attacks would be way too slow for XII's battle system (thank GOD)

and where art thou means 'why are you' anyway i think......i think juliet was asking why romeo was a montague not where was he......

*edit* curse my stupidity ^^

No, "Wherefore art thou?" was the phrase Juliet used, "Wherefore" being an archaic way of saying "Why." "Where art thou?" does mean "Where are you?"

And I agree that Tonberries just wouldn't fit XII's battle system. Super-fast Tonberries would mean a very quick death for your party. And it just wouldn't feel right.

Well, I know we had a topic about this a long time ago, and I just read the similar archived thread. Judge Rulia did point out that it'd be nice to have a Tonberry King hunt. =) Now that would certainly fit the battle style, I think. I mean, we did have a giant turquoise hunt (forgot the name) that moved sooooo slow, remember?

Anyway, at least they made a reference for Tonberry. It's not like they completely forgot about them in this game. [SIZE=-1]Tonberry is the code name of the Remora airship which fights with Reks and Basch in the beginning of the game.

No surprise there, eh? They did name their airships after those popular summons. So there's where our Tonberry went off to. =)

What about Atomos though? that was an airship and a hunt. ;)

What about how a Tonberry would fight? all it had was a butcher knife which only has a stabbing motion and a lantern which unleashes dark spirits, or something, dealing damage depending on how many enemies the target had killed. And with it's slow speed it would be a rather easy combatant in comparison to it's older versions. Though the turtles were slow at least they had various forms of attack, including some magick attacks.

Well, they could always conjure up new attacks for the Tonberry. It's a game, anything's possible.

And what makes the Tonberry great is the suspense that the players experience as he slowly, but surely comes to you, holding out a knife and a lantern. Even with its slow speed, the Tonberry's HP is all that would matter, because if it's extremely high and you constantly keep attacking him, and he's not even close to dying...wouldn't that freak you out?

That's the whole point.

And uh, what about Atomos? So he was an airship and a hunt...Tonberry was just the code name after an airship, and not a hunt...what do you want me to do about it...? o.o

Like a zombie probably :P, and the tonberry has pretty much kept the same attacks, different names at times but staying the same. Though the hp is the one thing that can make them challenging, once it finally attacks you it does pitiful damage most of the time, which shortly afterwards you can easily defeat it with the right attacks.

...Are you saying that I'm implying the Tonberry can never be defeated easily? That's not what I'm trying to say at all. The Tonberry IS an easy target. The whole point for his existence is the unique way that makes the player go, "OMG, he's coming at me! And he's not dying! dkfd fid!!! ... Oh, there we go, he's dead. Phew, that was close."

Get the gist?

And yes, he's always kept the same attacks...but c'mon, we're talking about FFXII here. This game had a lot of changes, and like I said, anything can happen. Those summons we were used to seeing have always been just that...summons. But what happened to them? They were named after airships. So my point is, there WILL be changes, no matter what.

Blah, I'm going off-topic here.

Anyway, like I said...if there was such a Tonberry King hunt, you'd naturally expect its HP to be high, therefore making the hunt a challenge.
