Anyone else here has problems beating Sin's armor? I had playing this game for god knows how long and I cannot beat Sin's armor or the game? Alos, how do you get 9999 dmg on the sphere grid?
If you can't beat Sin's armor then chances are, you'll have to grind a bit. And ZiDane, I think that's what he's talking about. I'm not trying to be rude, but I think that's what it is. If you can't beat that then you won't able to fight Yu Yevon.
But, here's a guide:
(hopefully I got this right I just looked it up. source below. If I didn't, I apologize)
Sin Boss 25.3 (Sin + Sinspawn: Genais)
HP (Sin): 36,000
HP (Genais): 20,000
Genais uses Bio, Waterga, Midaretsuki (random physical x10), and Sigh to attack. Genais shouldn't be a problem until it closes the shell changing it into the Armor-status. When it's in this mode it counters attacks with Curaga on itself. When Genais closes its shells, Sin will charge up and use Gravija in the next turn. Sin only uses Gravija if Genais is alive, but after Genais is defeated Sin will use elemental Black Magic to counter and Reset Aura. At the beginning of the battle, use Slow on Genais and use Fire-element attack on it because Genais is weak against Fire. Use the Silent Buster attack to counter Genais' Waterga attack. After defeating Genais, use Auron's Armor Break and Metal Break on Sin Deck
After defeating Sin and Sinspawn: Genais, rest up and save then talk to Yuna on the Deck for the final fight against Sin. Boss 26 (Sin)
HP: 140,000 This fight against Sin has to be fast or else Sin will use the Giga Graviton (forced game over) attack when the bar at the top of the screen is full. More or less, Sin doesn't do anything during its own turn except move closer. However, after a couple of turns by friendly members, Sin will counter with Glare (Stone, Confuse, and Zombie) on the entire party. Cast All-Haste right after the battle starts. Then use magic attacks and other long distance attacks against Sin when it's far away. When Sin is close enough, use Auron's Armor Break and Metal Break on it, then use physical attacks. You should be able to deal around 40,000 HP of damage every round.
Well, if you're starting with the fins, black magic and Holy from the distance is the best way to go. Only get close if you intend to use an aeon's Overdrive because Gravija and Negate are a real pain in the ass.
After that, going down to fight Genais and Sin's core is the biggest pain. Silence, Fire and Slow work well, as suggested by DeadFantasy, and simply using normal attacks and Black Magic to kill the core is suggested. If you have any aeons to act as meat shields against Gravija, it's a big help.
For the final fight when you need to beat him before he uses Giga Graviton, obviously starting off with Hastega is a good strategy. Don't bother with buffing moves such as Shell or Protect. Holy, Black Magic and perhaps ranged attacks with Wakka if at all possible are the way to go. Yuna and Lulu are the people to rely on in this fight if you've been following the Sphere Grid the conventional way. However, when it starts to use its Glare attack, you may need to heal, so having a couple of Mega Potions handy can be really helpful for your non Lulu and Yuna member.
Also, I assume you want to know how to break the 9999 damage limit. You need 60 Dark Matters to do so.
I will give you a few stats that you should be at before getting to that phase. First you should find the omega ruins which can be located from the nav map on the airship with the search feature.X 69~75 Y 33~38, those are the coordinates. Train near the save sphere for a while.
These are the stats that i would reccomend.
Auron: Hitting at least 7000
Yuna: at least at curaga, and possession of Anima.
Tidus: just have hastega, thats all he's good for anyways.
Riku: Have a lunar curtain or light curtain. and one of the special items (It should say "There seems to be some use for this" in the discription.) This will allow you to cast a Hyper Mighty G, which will make your party almost invinceable. (only your frontline
Lulu: doublecast, and flare.
Strategy.
Arms: Start the battle off with Tidus, Lulu, and Auron. Have Tidus cast Hastega, on his next turn have him move the ship closer to sin. It would also help if he had Armor Break, but this is not necessary. Have Auron use armor break and then mental break. Have Lulu, double cast flare, or flare and ultima. It also helps if she has Wakka's Osmose spell. So when she runs out of MP she can drain about 730ish MP from sin. This should be possible if you have one of the black magic spheres that you got in Bevelle. Sin will occasionally use Negation which will dispel all effects on himself and your party (including armor and mental break.) If the core starts gathering energy, gravitron is coming, at which point you should shield your characters. If you need to summon an aeon and use its shield, then do so. I have used this strategy on the arms multiple times and it has never failed.
Next is the hardest part in my opinion. Which is why i use shiva. If she doesn't know Blizzaga you can get the ice gems necessary by stealing them off chimera brains in the calm lands. You will need four. When you first arrive on sin summon shiva immediately. Then have her attack the sinspawn, keep healing her as necessary. You will get at least three to four overdrives out of her which will be enough to take out the sinspawn.
Sometime in the middle of this fight the core starts casting gravitron every other move which is why an aeon makes this battle very easy. Once shiva is defeated use Auron to armor break the core and then summon anima, who will take out the core in four hits, or if she gets at overdrive before that use it, only if she is going to be defeated. If you can save her overdrive this would help in the fight against the head if you run into trouble there.
Dead Fantasy's guide on beating the head is right on point. I would just suggest having double cast, so you can do double the damage with Lulu.
I would suggest Mixing those items i mentioned earlier, for the Hyper Mighty G, use it on the part that you are having the most trouble with.
Hope i helped.
If you are where I think you are........fighting Yu Yevon you wont be able to die as you have auto-life..........to get 9999 raise your strength and get the best weapons...........Make sure you raise your strength because towards the end of the game raising your strength, improves your attacks a lot.
