So, first of all, I have a PS2, a one MB PS1 memory card, and am on disk one.

When I save my game, it says "Data saved", but then when I try to load it, it's not there. I have tried putting the memory card in and saving the game to both slot one and slot two, but it doesn't make a difference, same result.

I know my Playstation is reading the memory card, because it says it saved, but it really doesn't. At all!

Is it my game?
My memory card?
My PS2?
Or am I just plain stupid? (knowing almost nothing about consoles)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

Have you checked to see if the data is corrupted? It might just be that. Why not make numerous saves of the same kind and see if any of them work, it might the the file in particular. And do you have trouble saving any other game on those memory cards?

That happened to me afew times when I first started playing FFVI, I just kept ramming it in until it worked.... which it did eventually, although I have a few other memory cards that just point blank refuse to work now. Maybe it's just had it's day and is nakkerd?

Sadly, this is the only PS1 game I have. Sad, right? And since this is also the first time I ever used this memory card, I know that it's perfectly fine.

Anyway, I know it's the not the file because I have tried saving it to the other files and I still got the same result.

I have also saved at two different points: the time where you meet Kupo at the steeple and at the crash site. Same thing always happens. Maybe I'm not doing something in the game right? I kind of rush through so I can get to the first saving point...maybe I'm supposed to do something beforehand? (I just rush to the ticket stand, say I want to become the rat guy's slave, and then save. Am I supposed to talk to Alleyway Jack every time?)

Also, I heard that there are automatic save spots throughout the game. Is it true? And if so, where can I find them?

Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm trying to think about what I can do to make this work. I'll stop rambling now. :)

Thanks for all the help!

You shouldjust be able to save it regardles of what you have done. I'm pretty sure there aren't auto save spots either...

Maybe your memory card is goosed..have you tried checking it on the memory card itself, like when the disc tray is open to see if it's showing up there?

Been there, done that. It says that there is no memory card inserted, or something along that line. I'm pretty sure I've got it inserted correctly, though, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to save at all on the game. It reads the PS2 cards just fine.

Thanks again!

Sounds to me like your memory card is busted, new or not. If you're seeing that the data is saved when playing IX, then it's nothing wrong with the disk.

Try using a friend's memory card and double checking this; it might save you throwing away a perfectly good memory card.

I'm pretty sure by now that's it's my memory card anyway. For it to work, it has to be a Sony one, and I doubt the one I got off of Ebay (my current one) is a Sony memory card. Probably just some cheapo one.

Anyways, I might buy the right memory card and see if it works. If it doesn't, then back I'll come.

Thanks for all the help anyways! :)
