I'm trying to get Squall's final weapon, the lionheart, but I need 12x pulse ammo. I looked on a walkthough online and it send you can refine 2 energy crystals into 20 of the ammo. The problem is, I have no idea where I'm supposed to find the energy crystals. I also need 1x adamantine, which I'm supposed to get from the Adamantoise on Longhorn Island. I've run all over the island, from top to bottom, and I have yet to encounter one. Help please?

Also, I was trying to do the broken vase sidequest in Winhill, but I've run into some problems. First off, the guide I'm using says you're supposed to get one piece from the old lady growing flowers, one from Raine's old house, one from Laguna's old house, and one from a suit of armor inside the mansion. I acquired the one from the old woman and Raine's house, but I can't get one from the suit of armor for some reason. I've run completely around it mashing x all the while and nothing has happened. Any ideas?
 
You can get the crystals from an elnoyle I believe. The easiest way is to beat the guy in Esthar who is actually an elnoyle. The other way is to play lots of cards and refine 10 elnoyle cards in one crystal. Also the adamantine is also refinalble from one of the brothers cards, can't remember wich one. But if you don't wan't to sacrifice cards, I suggest keep searching.

Don't know about the other one though, sorry.
 
you get them from the blue dragons, you can find on the island closer to hell. Which is the island furthest to the right of the map. They're tough so watch. Or you could refine 4 blue dragon cards into 1.
 
Energy Crystals are dropped by a monster called Elnoyle. You can find him on Esthar city, to do it simply talk with a man in black that looks like a soldier and the battle will start, you can repeat as many times you want and the drop % chances is also high so it should be quick. I can't explain exactly the location of it but you can easilly spot him by having a look around at Esthar.

Adamantoises do appear on Longhorn Island, but they are pretty rare and always appear in pairs, they can only be encountered on beach not on the grass, keep trying, eventually you will find them. The Adamantines aren't rare so you should get one each 3 fights.

Doesn't the Chicobo drops one Vase Piece when you talk with him?
If I remeber correctly the one you want; you need to examine the Armor and it will reveal the last piece and the Chicobo that was inside.
 
^ Yup, that baby chocobo drops a peice and Ithink you have to do the suit of armour last, you need Quistis in your pasrty though, ot sure if anyone else is mandatory

Also, you can refine your minotaur/sacred card - whichever one it is toget 10 adamantines

Ruby Dragons drop energy crystals as do elnoyles - abeit rarely. Although apparently there is an Elnoykle in Esthar that you can get them off. Also refining 10 elnoyel cards will get you an energy crystal. Laser cannons can also be refined into pulse ammo, as can power generators rarely dropped by Blitz. You can also pick one of those up in the Lunatic pandora by tampering with those doors when you are playing as Laguna, so you might have missed that chance.
 
I'm positive that various enemies encountered at Tears' Point also drop Energy Crystals; the Iron Giants, in particular.

You can also refine 20 Pulse Ammo from one Power Generator - a rare find from a high-levelled Blitz. Find then in the Lenown Plains, near Edea's House, and use Thundaga on them to level them up. Then defeat it (do NOT mug!) and hope for success.
 
I usually waited until the drop of monsters and then run around the outskirts of the city. If I remember correctly you can't make it til after the drop anyways, so just run around the platforms and fight everything it is good spells if you want to get better abilities like holy.
 
Pulse ammo is a massive pain -- I usually get 20 from one power generator too. But I get that in one of laguna's dreams.

True enough, but Elnoyle has a high % drop of Energy Crystals and can be fought anytime without random-battle factor needed.

Yeah many enemies drop them, especially Ruby Dragons they drop them, but they are far too risky to play with, especially if you have less than 8000 HP.

Ugh, that Item is WAY too rare and difficult to be drop some 5%-10% chances of drop, I remember having a hard time getting it. That and obtaining the Blue Magic; Shockwave Pulsar
GF Griever special attack

OR she can use the command LVL UP as it raises some 30-50 lvls each use.
 
Thanks for all the help guys! I finally got the energy crystals I needed, but I'm still having trouble getting the adamentine. I've fought the adamantoise several times, but I never get any items once I've killed them. I tried mugging them instead, but they always give me the same thing over and over, and it's not the adamentine. Is there some rare drop scroll or something I'm supposed to have?
 
Might it be your level? It's easier to mug adamantines from a higher lv adamantoise. I usually use GF Tonberry's Lv Up ability
