FF7 Spin-offs

Now that I actually look at the FF7 Sub-forum descriptions, why are all of these spin-offs being developed for mobile phones and other useless systems? Would it kill Square-Enix to make non-jank games? Then again, I've never played any of the extra games, so I can't really say if they are/would be good or not... but something about playing part of the FF7 compilation on my phone just doesn't seem... appealing.

Thoughts?
 
I just wouldn't even go there on a mobile game, my battery doesn't last long enough :wacky: I can't imagine they would be any good at all. If they are gunna go mobile, they might aswel just go handheld >_<
 
Indeed. It's hard enough to text on phones let alone play full-fledged games on them. I think doing that would reduce the epicness of the original game. That's why I think all important games should be on actual consoles. :D
 
Because that would please the fans, and as we know, SE likes to piss off its fan base instead of making them happy. :neomon:
 
I never understood how they can release games for cell phones. Shit...the screens are usually way too small to be able to clearly show what's going on.
 
mobile phone games are just 'spin-offs'. They're nothing more, nothing less. They're not supposed to be epic.

can't say if they're good though, because in the UK we cant get hold of most of the stuff they have over in Japan
 
I just think it's silly. I think that all mobile phones should be used for are games like bubble breaker and solitaire. I don't like the PSP or DS either, although Final Fantasy III DS was entertaining for an hour or so. Maybe I'm just a console fanatic or sommat. :|
 
Pfft, I can't even play the default games for the cell phone, much less try to play more complex games like FF7 spin-offs. I guess they don't care that we would get sore thumbs after all.

i do agree with you. Mobile phones are good for tetris and not much else in my humble opinion..

Playing FF1 & FF2 is amazing. Graphics, beautiful, its just a great little console. Crisis Core is amazing, can't wait til the English version gets out, cos that'll be even better.

Anyway, rant aside, consoles are always going to be better for epic games for hundreds of reasons.

As i say, we both know that you wont really get epic games on a phone, they just dont have the memory like a cd, dvd or blu ray disk has. (give or take some of the newest phones with hard drives in them lol)
 
Well, if I can't play the spin-offs on the mobile devices, then I feel as if I'm missing out on parts of the FF7 storyline that I want to know. True, I could just read it online, but that's never fun... I think they should re-release the games in some sort of compilation disc for a console. True, it would be a mega long game, but it would bring in way more money than these pitiful excuses for spin-offs. xD
 
How Square could put some of the spin-offs on a mobile phone really blows my mind. I always hated the idea of playing sequels to such a good game on a cell phone where you have to squint to see what's on the screen, and you forget which button does what and all that.

I actually like the psp too. I've played FF1, FF2, and Tactics on it, and they are all stunningly beautiful. The screen is plenty big, and it's actually quite fun to play on. I'll go for something like a psp, but a cell phone no way.

yeah i totally agree.

Personally, if it was up to me and i was the head of Square-Enix, i'd make them do the following:

1) release ALL (every single FF game ever made) on 3 Blu Ray disks.

2 Blu Ray disk with all the games (from the gameboy games e.g FF Legends, to Crystal Chronicals on GC (if they had the rights to do it), then FF1-FF12)

2nd disk would have extra content, and LOTS of it.

Then i'd release FFVII remade for the PS3.

That means people have the full collection on the PS3 on blu ray disks, then a separate package for the remake of FFVII.

But you know they wont do that, because since they went to Square-Enix from Squaresoft, they've not really done anything right...


EDIT: oh and by the way, ive just remembered you have the TV out port on the PSP so you can just connect that up and play your PSP games on a big screen :)

I seriously need to get a job so I can buy a PSP...and some new freakin games. Sony continues to amaze me more and more with their stuff.

Same here, after 5 minutes Im pissed off and wanting to throw my phone at the wall, especially with the size of my stupid buttons. Never have I owned a more annoying mobile. Not good for someone who is a text-a-holic >_<
 
I wish they'd just stop with them...I loved FFVII, but I'm just getting tired of all this fanservice. Advent Children, fine. But did anybody actually want Dirge of Cerberus? Just leave FFVII alone, it was an amazing game in it's original form, crappy graphics and all.

kinda pisses me off when people say FFVII has crappy graphics. Maybe now they dont look good, but its 11 years old !!!!

Back when it first came out, it was graphically the best game out.
 
What really suprised me that FF 7 was the onyl one aside form FF 10 to get any sequels, and now with the newest game that came out for the PSP, it is the only FF game to have a prequel! But I agree that they shouldn't be making it for mobiel phones and such. Stick with the Play Station or at least the PSP!
