I got Aerith the first time, the second time, the third time, and the fourth time! Hell, I even got Aerith when I tried to get Barret, Yuffie or Tifa. Just what the hell does a person have to do to get more action around here!

It was the longest time before I found out you can take anyone else on a date. I was told on YouTube, didn't believe it, then I got the guide and found out it was true!
I was like, "WTF?!? You can date Tifa, Yuffie, or Barret (spine tingles)"

My favorite date besides the official Aerith date is Yuffie's. She gets the best action with Cloud. She kisses the spiky head hottie!


I wish I had the patients to kiss the other possible dates's a$$es throughout the entire frickin' game, just so I can see what happens on their "date". . . . .but I don't have that kind of patients, now do I? No, no I do NOT.

I always get Aerith. It's the easiest date for me to get, since I just have to be mean to Tifa

Aerith is my favourite character too, so I haven't even wanted to get the other characters dates, which I could view on youtube anyway xD

I ended up with Tifa. :] I didn't really use Aerith in batte... and while I tried to be nice to both of the girls, I probably ended up screwing some of Aerith and Tifa's answers, and Aerith's affection couldn't really be redeemed in battle... OuO;;;

None of the affection values affecting the date are alterred in battle. Only the AV that affects the HW scene.

I wouldn't have minded getting Yuffie's date. >< Though from what I understand, you have to be somewhat mean the other girls, right? Since Yuffie's affection starts signifacantly lower compared to theirs and all. I may very well be mistaken, though. xDDD;;;;

If you answer all of her 'joining' options correctly, but miss the last value, her AV points remain improved, and you can repeat the process theoretically endlessly without needing to be mean. It's like the theoretically unlimited AV you can eke out of telling Tifa it'll be okay during the ShinRa capture.
Barrett, though, requires being a cad to any and all involved, save Marlene and Jessie.
(considers the irony of saying something isn't original while using a pejorative that's even less original...)

Well, I feel stupid now. xD I'd thought I'd heard from somewhere that battles do affect affection, but I guess I was totally wrong.

Oh, really? I never knew that. I guess I'll do that when I get around to another play-through. Thank you for the information, since I didn't know there was a way to date Yuffie without being a dick.

Just to clear this up...

Aerith affinity boosts:
Buying a flower from her
Not insulting her
During imprisonment in the Shin-Ra building, choose the negative option when talking to Tifa

Tifa Affinity Boosts:
Roughly the same as Aerith apart from choosing the positive option during imprisonment.

Yuffie Affinity Boosts:
Let her steal money from you after defeating her
Complete Wutai subquest

Barret Affinity Boosts:
This guy is a bit more difficult, I only know one affinity boost which is 'Barret's snoring kept me up' (weird, no?) and being a total arse with Aerith, Tifa and yuffie throughout the game up to the gold saucer date.

That should clear up most difficulties in getting the date you wish (I also hear that having the date of choice in battle with you and healing them etc may also boost affinity too)

EDIT sorry Sandy. When I played the game when I was younger I always got Aeris, well even if I played now without a guide I probally would. I asked my sister when she was laying the game how she liked Clouds date with Aeris and she was like "What date? I dated Tifa" Then for a couple play throughs I would still get Aeris. Then I got a guide and played through to get Tifas date like I always wanted.

When i was playing, i got Tifa. This was because I was nice to her all the time. The scene was rather amusing, but... Cloud was a little sullen. Still, i enjoyed the scene. Though i never got Aerith before, i know about the details of this scene, and it is a pretty interesting one.

It was aerith first time round for me, but once i realised you could get tifa. I tended to start wiping out aerith in battles to get Tifa. Cant say i care either way i just preffered the cloudxTifa thing.
The yuffie date is hilarious but its quite hard and time consuming to get.

*Ahum* The first time I played it I got Tifa, and the second, third, ....*Falls asleep* I'm satisfied with that, seeing I'd probably be crazy enough to reset my whole game, and wipe it off my memory card if I had gotten Aeris. I don't like her, and never have her in my party when I don't have to, and of course, I'm a bitch to her with the answers. xD Besides that, I'm just glad Cloud went on the date with Tifa. Twas so cute... <3

To get Yuffie you have to be mean to both Tiffa AND Aerith. Barret's a challenge since his rating is basicaly non-existent to start with. Besides how is getting Barret worse then Cloud who's 21 going out with a 16 year old. If he did that in rl he'd be locked up.

Yuffie is a bonus character. In other words she isn't a character that you're forced to get. She is optional.

So if you did not get her, Cloud will be dating Barret if he was giving negative replies to both Aeris and Tifa throughout the game. Barret is more like a stand-in for Yuffie. Therefore the only way to get Barret is to be mean to both of the other girls and skip getting Yuffie. Or do it reversed. Gold Saucer then Yuffie. But then she will be of disadvantage in levels compared to the others.

I've only played through this once, but Aeris was the one whom Cloud went on his date with to the Gold Saucer for me. I was actually surprised, because I really didn't use Aeris that much in the game up to that point. However, I guess it all had to do with how well you treated her and such, and I can't remember ever ignoring her or speaking down to her in the game.

I always tend to try and take Tifa because I don't see the point in trying to get along with Aeris, I didn't want to take Barret and I didn't know you could take Yuffie.
